I feel like it should be the opposite and this logic has been the main driver of their offensive concerns this season. It’s also led to the regression of Hurts playing dumb football and looking for the homerun.

Agreed. I think they should use more "dink and dunk” strategy and use it to set up the long ball. Short slants and some drop offs to the RB. Use Goedert in the middle. Aaaaaand consistently run the ball! And sprinkle in some plays were Hurts is under center, not just on Tush Push.

I feel like we've been seeing this all year -- teams are sitting back in a 2 safety shell and not letting us beat them deep. They are forcing us to take the underneath throws and/or run the ball, betting on us being impatient eventually. The Patriots did it in week 1, and basically everyone is copying it. It's like we can't beat the friggin Fangio defense...

In a 17 game season with 2 elite WRs, a really good TE, and an elite OL, Jalen Hurts might not reach 4,000 yards passing.

The following are the best/only starting QBs in the NFL with QB ratings below Hurts: Geno Smith, Gardner Minshew, Justin Fields, Will Levis, Deshaun Watson, Sam Howell, Kenny Pickett, Desmond Ridder.

I'm more down on the Phillies than I am Eagles and Sixers tbh. They're winning nothing with that lineup as currently constructed. And Nola and Wheeler aren't getting any younger.

Here's one thing I'll guarantee though: they'll be better than the Dodgers.

At least they are being aggressive with Yamamoto

I'm guessing he just assumed Hurts would slide but still. No effort at all.

Make an example out of him and cut him.

Just grateful that I was able to share a Super Bowl victory with some of them before the end came.

This hit me hard when the Rangers won the WS this year. My grandmother (passed in 2009 @95 yrs), who helped raise us, and my mother (passed in 2019) who cared for her until she passed, watched or listened to the Rangers pretty much every game. I caught myself thinking how happy they would have been to see it, then I thought of all the games we shared. Tough night, but enjoyable, what I would give to have shared that with them.

I used to let my Mondays be affected by game outcomes. The older you get the more you appreciate the stuff that really matters. It's entertainment, and we are all invested emotionally as sports fans but at the end of the day, the time and memories shared of those games together with the ones that you love is really the most important thing.

2002 and 2003 hold the same place for me.  I couldn't believe they lost to Carolina any more than I could believe Tampa -- both were terrible losses.

Neither one was as bad for me as the 1980 Stanley Cup Finals, though.  That Flyers team was historically good; best hockey team ever to lose IMO.

The 2002 team would have coasted to a SB win, while the 2003 team would have lost in the SB.  So 2002 is more of a lost opportunity to  me.

That patriots game caused me to burn a waiver priority on Mac Jones.  I was thinking "wow, maybe this kid is taking a step forward this year".

Nope, it was just that our secondary is trash.

So very true.   I've had students come to me complaining that some minor issue makes this the worst day of their life.    I've reassured them and told them not to worry about this... they will have far worse days.    Somehow that's not reassuring to them.

Iggles - 27

VAGiants - 6

Bonus - The night before the game Wink Martindale wakes up in a cold sweat, after a nightmare of Boston Scott scoring four TD's. Tommy DeVitos agent is seen being pelted with Crab Fries at pregame warmups. On a fourth and 1 inch, Hurts checks out of the Tush Push, for a long failed bomb attempt to Quez. Big Dom is named Defensive Coordinator pregame and will call plays. Matt Patricia will move to the box upstairs, and Sean Desai will move to the bag checker role at the front gate.

And when short quick passes work they throw them out and never go back to them

It is kind of funny how the blueprint for the offense is right in front of them just by watching their own defense. Attack the middle of the field, get mismatches against linebackers, and be content taking the underneath routes. They continue to try the square peg into a round hole approach of trying to assert their homerun plays and in turn, play right into what the defense wants.

You have to strategically work for the right of earning a deep play. You can’t just run four verts every play. You do that by showing that you have the patience to take underneath routes, running a balanced offense, and then maybe you get a play action shot deep on a safety biting.

As some QBs got hurt, looked at per game stats.

Eagles are 16th in passing yards per game, and Hurts is 14th in DYAR (passing efficiency above replacement per DVOA stats). Eagles are 7th in yards/ATT, meaning when do throw it, we're good at it.

Note that this do not include strength of schedule or that we have played 4 rain games.

Offense should be a lot better. Talent is there

100% the same for me.  Above all, I've realized at the end of the day that the vast majority of these players don't give a single hair off a rat's ass about the fans.

Yep. I enjoy coming on here and discussing our thoughts on the Eagles and our frustrations as well but I'm more of an objective fan now. It's nice to see the Eagles win but I don't get upset when they lose and I talk about it with fans of other teams. I was just talking to my nephew about being too invested because like you said, at the end of the day, these players don't care about the fans.

With that being said, the Bucs playoff game gutted me as a fan. THAT was the game for that team. If AR was ever going to win a SB with the Eagles, that was it. Everything was there for the taking. Duce looked unstoppable on the first drive. Last game at the Vet, Bucs never winning in sub 35 degrees. And then...ugh.

We have guys who are great at getting YAC. Just get these guys the ball with some space. And yes run the ball.... dust off Penny for Christ sakes we need to have a little change of pace and power back there other than Hurts.

I think if nothing other than to change the look of the offense, they need to get Penny in the game. The problem might be that they see Swift and Penny in the same role as opposed to Gainwell and Penny as interchangeable. Gainwell and Watkins are JAGs or below. I don't get the freaking coaching romance with these players.

Hurts never attacks the middle of the field, but when he does, I feel like he is good at it. Goedert should be feasting against the defenses we are seeing. AJ on slants. Screens to the RBs.

It just seems to be a stubbornness on offense among Sirianni, Johnson and Hurts.

But why throw the ball 4 yards to the middle of the field when you can throw screens instead?!
