I could see ownership wanting trotter jr

That would be a decision to move the green dot from Nakobe, is Howie ready for that?

Dean's a 3rd round pick who hasn't been healthy or effective enough to warrant much time on the field.  I'm not sure he's ever even flashed.  I have my doubts the organization is all that tied to him at this point.

I calculate the difference between the Eagles' score and the prediction, then calculate the difference between the opponent's score and the prediction, and then add those two numbers together.  If you guessed 58-0 in the Seahawks game the respective calculations would be 58-17 equals 41, 20-0 equals 20, and 41 + 20 equals 61.

Gotcha. So Total points and Eagles score.... the opponents score is irrelevant.

I started Com Sci but decided I wanted to party so switch to IST so I could coast to honors and get the same job as the Com Sci nerds.

Sorry @Westbrook#36.  I just didn't see the point learning machine language, which they would have had me doing.

Someone remind what the reason for trading for Albert O was?

I actually thought that was a nice little under the radar move but he never got a chance. Same for Penny. I really have next to zero faith and confidence in Siri & Johnson anymore.

Meh. Overreaction, imo.   Much too soon to determine how good Davis can/will be.

There are various options for a real QB to hit here. Smith on the out is tough because he has to hope to get it past the free blitzing defender if they put their hands up it could be batted down. Stepping up in to the pocket, he has whoever was lined up in the slot, breaking across the middle of the field. But he might not have the space and time.

Lastly, and most easily accomplished, ff he keeps his eyes up, he can hit Boston Scott on the curl route. Instead, he put his head down and continued his blind scramble in to the DTs arms.

Davis has been somewhat disappointing so far but so has everyone on that d-line for the most part this year. If Davis doesn't flash next year then I'll be convinced he's JAG who was drafted too high.

Best ability is availability…

If he does what you suggest he gets hit as he throws. All the receivers turn too late.

the other 2 are questionable. Boston Scott is a definite completion if he does it right.

These are valid points, but if I was going to guess the Dean + journeymen combo is the most likely Howie play.

Brandon Lee Gotwon I have had the weirdest obsession of defending Brian Johnson Jalen Squirts at all costs this season and shielding him from getting any blame at all.  It's very odd.

There are two problems on this particular play:

1)  There is no "look at me" target against the obvious blitz here.  The ball needs to come out within 2 seconds to avoid a QB hit.  This is a drop, plant, and throw to a hot target

2)  QB recognition is the bigger problem here.  It should be obvious to a high school QB that McKinney is the free rusher pre-snap; he's in a track stance displaying his intention to rush the QB.  Hurts defaults to his Plan A of running to his right, around the pass rusher -- not gonna work against a SS with agility, and the play is dead because of it.  Hurts should recognize that fact pre-snap.

Should Kelce decide to hang em up, how would people feel if we drafted a center at some point and left Jurgens at RG?

No.  I like the plan of grooming him to learn from Kelce.  He's picking up all the details and preparation throughout the week, learning from his character and work ethic, being a sponge for his knowledge, getting first hand experience at the line in how he observes the defense and calls out blocking instructions and makes adjustments, learns from him in the film study and meeting room.

Finding a decent RG is easy compared to finding a Center to replace what Kelce does.  Obviously there will never be another Center like Kelce but I'd rather the guy who learned from him for 2 years and has game starting experience at RG then a rookie Center.

Jurgens was drafted as Kelce’s replacement. His size and speed make him more of a natural center. I loved Zack Zinter from Michigan as their future guard before his leg injury.  He reminds me of Landon Dickerson.  Maybe use one of the second round picks for him and keep Steen as a swing tackle and possibly Johnson’s replacement.

I’d love to get zinter cause i thought he was going to be a great olineman before his injury. I think the issue is unless they believe steen can play RT, they invested a high 3rd rounder on him. Jmo if the eagles are spending a top 3 round pick on an olineman with stoutland in the building it’s cause they believe the kid is going to be a quality starter at some point. I just dont see the eagles taking zinter unless they fully believe steen can play right tackle once lane retires.

art there’s also another thing if kelce doesn’t retire after this year, and you draft center then he’s really behind Dickerson and Jurgens. He’s not going to play for a year. Maybe they think that’s the best for him with the injury he suffered.

i love zinter so i wouldn’t be mad if they did it. He’s gonna be a stud at the nfl level. I just don’t see it unless they think steen can be RT.

I agree.  I like Davis and the combo with Carter should solidify the position for years.  But they did trade up for him and give up 3 additional picks to do it, so you kind of expect more of a beast.  He already had known conditioning issues in college and wasn't an every down player.  He had limited snaps last year and this year as he's been called on for more due to injuries to Cox and Williams, he's exhausted.  Maybe another offseason of conditioning and continuing to rotate in Williams will keep him fresh next year.

Davis was great first half of the year and then seemed to hit a wall. Let’s see if one more year of professional conditioning does the trick or if he only stays at the decent level.

He had an injury earlier in the year and since failed off. Similar to last year he was good until the injury. Just hope during his career he’s not always getting banged up and then it effects his play.

I'm not much of an X's and O's guy, but when I watch clips like this to help me learn, it seems clear that they should expect the blitz, and he has a wide open option from the slot on the left, and if Goedert had cut to the left quickly he'd also be wide open.

They are focused on the big plays, which take more time to develop.  With the receivers they have and their YAC ability you'd think they could dominate and march down the field with more ease.  The route trees that get posted like the one earlier for Smitt show the coaches play design and play calling are the main issue.

No wonder the receivers are mad after games.
