Sweat with 140+ yards rushing and a TD

Sweat seems to be doing a Bobby Quinn impression where running from the hash to the numbers is a challenge - guy needs to get his knees right somehow.

I'd usually agree that sending a 5th and 6th aren't a big deal but as of today, the only picks they actually have are:

1st, 2nd, 2nd (NO), 5th and conditional 6th from Kentavious Street that is going to end up a 7th because he played 5 of the 6 games needed and is on IR.

Now, they are projected to have a 3rd and 3 5th round comp picks but I'm not banking on them until they are actually handed out.

This is the current draft pick value chart, which includes projected comp picks. I'm a firm believer that the 4th round is where you really need to build your team. You still have top, fringe level players here. There is a huge gap between picks for the Eagles, which is a trend I've pointed out in the past. Things can and will change between now and the draft but I absolutely hate when the Eagles go for rounds between picks. If this is how the draft laid out, there are almost 2 "rounds" worth of players selected between the Eagles 3rd and 5th round picks.

I don't think Byard has done enough to warrant 2 draft picks, no matter where they are. 5 5th round picks and 2 6th round picks would give them much better ammo to get in to the 4th round, but again, we all know Howie will move up and down as he pleases.

Sure, except our track record with finding value in those 5th and 6th rounds isn't exactly stellar. I agree, in theory, you can build a roster with role players from those rounds but who on this years or last year's roster was actually drafted there by us? Kelce from a decade ago under Reid? Mailata might be the only one. The near unanimous consensus that this roster is one of the best in the leagues, and yet only a couple players were late round picks. Byard trade was worth a shot, we need help there because our other attempts to address the position fell hilariously short. Is he a top-5 safety? Of course not, but he's serviceable, and holding on to those 5th and 6th rd picks while trotting Edmunds out there every week would've been incredibly dumb.

Had Sweat on my mind after reading Vikas post.  I meant Swift of course but maybe I should leave it as Sweat and really go out of the box with this one.

You’d have double 0 covered for sure.

Would be nice to see Sweat break out. When was the last time he had a sack?  Must be 5 or 6 games now.

This doesn't make a lot of sense. Consider this:

Does that mean that every defensive coach ever is doomed to fail because offensive coordinators will always leaver for greener pastures? That's obviously not true.

Additionally, does that mean it's impossible for an offensive coach to maintain a good defense because the defensive coordinators will always leave? This is also not true.

The answer is one that's existed for a long time: You get an older coordinator who isn't a heavily sought after hire, because right now the trend is 'young guns with a lot of grass ahead of them' as a head coach. Young coaches generally do not have a lot of cards in their pocket. If the first offense they learned is mostly ineffective by later tape, it's often the only offense they learned. As a result, they struggle.

This is why young coaches tend to either be pretty good, or suck really badly and get fired in a couple years. The fix to this is pairing them up with older coordinators, like I described above, that help them grow their understanding. Football is a team sport, and it's a team sport with the coaches too unless you have somebody like modern Andy Reid or Kyle Shanahan. But those guys don't grow on trees so I don't think we'll be finding the next one of those any time soon.

I really don’t think it’s that complicated.  The HC needs to be independent enough and fluent enough with a good system that the team can endure change at OC without blaming major problems on the OC.  Siri isn’t.

People really overrate 6th and 7th rounders. Similar hit rate to UDFAs.

I feel like it was the game sealing sack in the 1st DAL game.  He says that he’s getting pressures… I guess the QBs have had such an easy time escaping the pocket recently it doesn’t seem to be effective.

Desai's defense was better heading into the bye having shut down Miami and beating Dallas.

So excited to be able to root for the Cowboys tonight.  Going to have to dust off my TO Cowboys jersey.  How bout them Boys?!

You don’t need to put this much effort in. We all dislike you already.

Sorry, not rooting for the Boys under any circumstance. If we see the Lions in the Playoffs, so be it but I hope the Boys go into the playoffs on a 4 game losing streak.   Vikings will be playing for their playoff lives against the Lions in Week 18.  Plus winning the NFC East at Home a whole week early would be great.

I would too…but if we get a better OC, have a great 2024…then they are a HC in 2025 and our offense is back to square 1.  The HC needs to be able to be the constant.

How often does that even happen when the HC isn’t the one calling the plays?

Couple of player updates for tomorrow

I know we technically need them to win but I feel this is a ban hammer offense

Well maybe that's the point.  What does Siri bring to the table?  Incredible offensive scheme...nope.  Play calling (good or bad)...nope.  Defensive insight?  Nope.

Sweat was the one in the process of sacking Josh Allen when he was called for intentional grounding in the BUF game.  That’s the last big play I can remember
