Sweat is 26 going on 60.  He's got his initial burst then it's like his legs turn to concrete.

Depending on what system we run next season I think we need a big DE overhaul.

Wisconsin choked about as hard as we did

Why did they cut Barnett? He could have provided some useful snaps and relief for BG and Sweat.

They randomly decided to stop rotating DL like they've done for years now.  Why?  Who the hell knows.  One of many baffling decisions that will never be explained

Nick looked so defeated in that press conference

I guess he can't cover anyone in practice either.

I'm no Barnett fan but I've been saying the same thing. Not only did they cut him and his snaps, but they never replaced him. Never called up Tarron Jackson, never made a move for a veteran DE. Just spread it out over the guys already playing too much.

Yeah i don't get that.

Yeah that's fine but it just seems these mid season trades don't work.

The last 2 trades for Quinn and Byard, problem is both guys are old and past their prime.  Maybe Howie should aim for some younger guys with these trades.  Not to mention it's got to be difficult for a player to join a team half way thru the season and have to get up to speed on everything.

Why i said during preseason/TC they should’ve made a move to get a safety. Not waited til the trade deadline. Evans is perpetually hurt in his career. So relying on him in any capacity was foolish. Wallace is a backup. Edmunds is a JAG. And hoping Blankenship and brown would solve your S position was asking for trouble. Blankenship has never played 17 games so if he could hold up was an issue along with if he’d get more exposed. And brown was a 3rd round rookie. Asking a lot of him.

Take out the DL issues (although t said their depth would eventually be a problem if Williams and Davis didn’t make bigger jumps), the issues this team has on defense were what we talked about through the off-season and into the preseason that would be an issue. We said they were gonna have issues at safety. We said they were gonna have problems with older corners staying healthy and regressing/declining because of their age. That’s exactly what happened. Said linebackers unless Dean made a significant jump we’re going to be really bad. Even if Dean did they had only 1 viable linebacker and lousy depth. Yet here we are Dean is injured (not great when he played) and the depth is lousy. Then you add all that with bad coaching by desai and Patricia.

Brilliant! Must be why they have their WR blocking too. Don't want to give away what their best players can do so let's have them do something else so the other team doesn't see it coming.

Yep, seeing DeVonta pissed and talking about it is what opened my eyes the most. Agree with you 100% and posted about it this morning regarding these guys coming from esteemed programs. they have 25% of the roster who has played for Saban or Kirby Smart at Bama and UGA respectively. You can't get better coaching at the college level. It's just my opinion and I could be wrong but I'm guessing they hear Nick talk about flowers and all of his other ra-ra stuff and roll their eyes and laugh based off of where they come from. You mention Sydney Brown and he played for Bret Bielema at Illinois. He's another no nonsense coach who's always pushed his players. I really think these guys are over Nick's schtick.

Honestly. I feel like the expectations of the team never matched the reality of the team from anyone.

And by anyone, I mean anyone. It feels like the team got too high and got disappointed. It feels like the fans got too high and disappointed. It feels like everyone got too high and disappointed. And rather than admitting the expectations were too high, people are looking for heads to roll because their expectations didn't make sense.

Apparently the 2023 Eagles were supposed to be the legendary team that defeat the Super Bowl Loser curse other than the late 90's Bills and 2018 Patriots and the other handful of teams to do that. Unfortunately, even with two new coordinators of unknown quality, that was still the expectation both from the team and the fanbase.

At the end of the day, the Philadelphia Eagles at one point made a choice to move away from Chip Kelly, who was more of an X's and O's and scheme oriented guy, for guys who were more about locker room stuff. Everybody said that's what was needed. Now with Nick it's the opposite, and people are saying we need more of an X's and O's guy.

People love to say 'we need something different' but rarely provide tangible approaches to what that 'different' is. So basically people are saying we need someone who does everything? Well okay that's fine, but most of the people who do that for the long term are called 'Top NFL coaches'. Everyone wants one, but that's easier said than done.

My kid could run through this defense and he's 2

Then, stop playing that stupid 5 man front that mever works and dropping our best pass rusher into coverage.

They play 5 man because the LBs are trash and can't stop the run in 4 man fronts. Hell they can't stop it in 5 man either.

I didn't say he was a GOOD X's and O's guy, but he certainly was NOT a player's coach, right? I'm talking about archetype, not quality.

Eagles never really replaced the quality depth they lost in suh and Joseph. Hargrave would still be the best DT on this roster. Carter is great but he’s not at that level yet. Looking at the eagles DL it’s Cox, Carter, Davis, Williams, sweat, graham, tui and jackson. Last year the eagles were suh, Joseph, hargrave, graham, Williams, sweat, Davis, Cox and Quinn. Eagles depth last year was insane. This year not so much.

Their run defense showed some cracks before he missed 4 of the last 5 games, but Cunningham at least made it somewhat competent. He’s about the only linebacker good against the run. morrow, Leonard and vansumeren are awful and they just guess hoping they are gonna be right.
