I’m not sold on brown or Blankenship. Blankenship can be solid. I think he can be Marcus Epps to CJGJ. I don’t think he can be your best safety and frankly i don’t think he’s played as great as he did early in the year. Also slay is 33. I’m not trusting a guy who’s about to miss 1/4th of the season. Also ringo, Ricks are unproven commodities. Don’t know what rodgers looks like after his suspension. I think they need a massive upgrade at corner. Relying on 2 players who are inexperienced, guy coming off a year long suspension and a 33 corner sounds an awful lot like the Wr plan in 2020 that blew up in their face amongst other things.

I think a lot of us fans would agree.  But Howie and the coaches don't do things that way.  We've seen this movie before. They're really excited about the young guys, they made some plays toward the end of the season, etc. etc.  They don't prioritize safety enough.  Depending on salary cap will they make another big free agent signing at corner or safety?  With Bradberry and Slay's contract?

They haven't drafted a safety in the 1st round in 54 years, corner in 22 years.  If they don't draft one of those in the 1st or 2nd, the guys they get in the mid to late rounds won't be any good anyway.  They probably don't have the money for free agency splash at those positions.

Agree, however the current setup would work better with 2 quality LBs who can blitz (if the DC would call blitzes), help stop the run and not be a liability in the short passing game.  It's a combination.  But as you noted, BG is only 33% of the snaps.  He's a rotational guy so they really have 1 DE who plays full-time snaps.  I didn't say adding a DE was the only thing needed, I also a new DC (which means scheme change), new quality LB as well.  They also need a free agent replacement at safety after Byard is cut, depth at DE and other LBs as well.  But if you had to only make 3 top moves on defense, I'd get a DE, LB and new DC.

Brian Burns is a pipe dream but would be the exact kind of splash move Howie makes in an off-season he knows he needs to win. He can't stand pat this year.

If not Burns, my list includes the following:

-Yetur Gross-Matos

-Chase Young

-AJ Epenesa

-Jonathan Greenard

-Casey Toohill...yes that Casey Toohill.

I'm also looking at DT:

-Bilal Nichols

-Justin Jones

-Fletcher Cox...there's gas in the tank but he needs to be in the 40% of the snaps range.

I'm not sure.  People have been excited about Ringo and he's played well, for a 4th round rookie thrown in at the end of the season.  I would like to see upgrades but I'm just saying what I think Howie and coaches will think:  they don't prioritize safety enough, they will think Brown, Blankenship and another cheap free agent will be fine.  They will cut Bradberry and have money committed to Slay. They haven't drafted a corner in the 1st round in 22 years, and they will say they already have 3 young corners (Ringo, Ricks, Rodgers) to pair with Slay.

He has not played well... he's been getting cooked and when he's not cooked he's grabby.

RB - I think bringing back Swift makes sense.  Gainwell isn't an adequate replacement.  Swift should be relatively inexpensive.  He's young and has low mileage.  My guess is the market will be set by Saquon and Joseph.  I think they should consider paying him around what Sanders got. He's a better RB than Sanders.

OL- OT is a big need.  I would like them to take one on day one or two.  I also think signing a mid-level FA as a back up may make sense.  Josh Jones with the Texans or even Isaih Wynn.  Wynn could be potential competition to start inside.

DE - I don't see them signing a big FA.  DE is a priority pick in the draft.  I believe they will extend Reddick over Sweat.  Reddick is the closest thing we have to a playmaker on defense. He probably won't be cheap.

LB - I don't know who would be a splash FA.  Maybe they would sign Patrick Queen but it seems unlikely.

I'd definitely take Queen and pair him up with a rook such as Trotter Jr. or Cooper. But I feel like Queen is going to be priced out... There's other outside backers that will be ok I feel but a 2nd round ILB is a must.

I think they should target jaylon Johnson as their prize in free agency. He’d make a massive difference especially if ringo hits.

They have signed safeties before. Mcleod and jenkins. They weren’t the top choices. They also tried for Marcus Williams and missed out to the ravens. I think they’ll sign a veteran free agent safety. I just don’t think it’ll be of the quality we think. It’s gonna be of a backup type guy like edmunds and Evans.

I'm more confident in Ricks hitting on the outside than anyone else on the roster.

I'm not expecting a 1st round pick at LB. That guy would have to be the top guy on the board by at least a tier.

But I think you have to throw a bunch of smaller resources at it. A long term contract type of guy in FA. A 2nd or 3rd round pick. The top UDFA LB.

If they want to change my mind about LB philosophy then none of their starting LB are on the current roster.

Draft one of Trotter, Edge Cooper, Danny Stutsman.

Sign one of Kenneth Murray or Patrick Queen.

Huge indictment of his processing

His processing wasn't a problem last year when we had a competent OC.

It's going to be damn near impossible to accurately gauge these players in the offseason.  Especially the rookies.

Another guy I'd bring in as a veteran presence. Denzel Perryman.

Baldy did not watch the film if he's calling Davis unplayable.

Sure it was. And the year before…”he cant read” and all

last year was a superior roster on D and far weaker schedule.

He's had passes broken up, an INT, limited targets (they're going after Bradberry instead of the unproven rookie thrown in at the end of the season).  In his first 2 games he didn't allow a single catch.  It's an exaggeration to say he's not played well at all and getting "cooked."  He's made some plays.  He's a developing 4th round rookie who was thrown in since Slay was out and only played 3 games, for a defense that is collapsing and changed DCs.

I'm not saying he's great.  I'm saying the team will take him as a positive along with Ricks, Slay returning, Rodgers coming off suspension and think they are fine at corner.  They may sign a cheap free agent especially for the slot.  But I would be shocked if they sign a high priced free agent or draft a corner in the 1st or 2nd round.  I'd love that, because they haven't prioritized it in the draft but I don't see it.

If we are being honest, i think it’s a better chance that jobe, ringo and ricks are not in the eagles long term plans by 2026 then any of them hitting as a starter on the outside.

One silver lining to the defense collapsing is maybe...just maybe...Howie will realize the importance of LB.  For the run game and the short passing game and not allowing the opponent to easily march down the field and convert 3rd downs (and 3rd and long) automatically.  Can't just invest in D line and corners, have to upgrade LB big time.

We’ve really slipped down the power rankings - now 11th behind the Texans 😂

The entire defense looked unplayable. No one could shed a block, no disruption, everyone in slow motion.

Yep. It's the Pinkston, Thrash effect. Maybe now they know they need a TO level move at LB after this disaster.

I didn't like how AJ initially acted, then started to understand and respect him more, but back to disliking.

He's making this so much worse than it needs to be.

Wouldn’t be surprised if the eagles overcorrect the issue where they sign one and draft one in round 2

As long as he's not doing sit-ups in his driveway, we should be okay

Feels like this is announcement that acho or skip bayless makes about what they are gonna talk about on their show after a Sunday of football.

insane that they don't have a plan.

The plan is to check into a QB draw or a WR screen

Bruh... he's getting cooked. The int wasn't because of great coverage or something lol. Have you seen what these amazing receivers from the Cardinals did to him?
