So, let's talk strategy.

With Brown out, where's the power?

Could the coaches actually commit to running the ball to set up the pass?

How are the Bucs versus the run?

Again I agree, @vikas83 said they have to sign him before they can trade him though. I’m not that familiar with the 1st rd rookie contract terms so I don’t know.

What I meant was anyone trading for him would need to extend him as part of the deal. Like the Eagles did with AJ Brown.

You can’t give up multiple high picks for a rental.

Just got up for work.

Sees Dallas result 😁.

Chortle. Guffaw.  🤣🤣

Wonder if they opened all the doors in the 3rd quarter so that all those folks who couldn't wait to run in could run out again 😆

Saints beat writer. Well played

Giants were the top rival before Dallas entered the league.  Old timers have the Giants as the number 1 rival, everyone else has Dallas.  Their lack of success should make them an after thought... but any time they show any signs of life, they get overhyped nationally and their bandwagon troll fans get loud and obnoxious.  When they go down, we just get a reprieve from that and enjoy a brief respite.

Yes and the old timers are fading. If you are under 65 or 70 it is going to be the Cowboys.

Just watched Invincible and American Underdog.

Suddenly, I'm believing again.

Did Jalen Hurts ever work at a grocery store?

Ok, so we have one final path to host a playoff game. The Packers beat the 49ers, and we win each of the next two games. Then the NFCCG is in Philadelphia.

It would be awesome for us, but at the same time, I'd REALLY enjoy reading the Cowboys message boards if that happened. lol

The thing about the Cowboys for older Eagles fans has a long history of hatred.  The DVD set of the Philadelphia Eagles history does a good job showing that history and the buildup to the 1980 NFC Championship game.  Clips or maybe even all of that might be on YouTube as well.

Younger fans that only knew the team after Lurie bought it and they started having a lot of regular season success under Reid and then a Super Bowl win with Doug don't know the struggles of the past.  They also got used to winning and they've called some games the "worst loss" they've ever seen or worst seasons.  Lurie has fired a coach anytime the team has had a bad season.  So under Lurie they haven't had a long drought of losing.

But in the past: they were awful with bad ownership and losing teams.  Long droughts.  Younger fans also don't realize some things about the game.  There used to be a lot more rounds of the draft, there was no salary cap and free agency was different.  The teams with the richest owners could buy all the players.  Also before cable, national fans only really saw the most popular teams like the Cowboys, Steelers and Packers. Teams who were winning and popular got air time.  That's one of the reasons certain teams have fans all over the country.

Philly had an inferiority complex for a long time as well with Dallas.  They were the flashy ones with money and celebrities.  1 reporter called them "America's Team" on the air and that was it, that stuck for a long time.  Finally, Dick Vermeil brought a winning culture to the team.  The phrase "Beat Dallas" became so important.  They got over the hump by beating them in the 1980 NFCCG.  Then in the 90s the Eagles had a brutal defense under Buddy Ryan. He talked a lot of trash.  The team beat up the Cowboys in the regular season, Aikman still talks about getting hit by that defense.  But...Buddy Ryan never won a playoff game.  And for all the trash talk about tough defense, we had to watch the Cowboys win 3 Super Bowls in the 90s and the media went nuts over them, bandwagon fans all over the country (the type that happen to like the Bulls, Lakers, Yankees, any team that wins multiple championships) came out like cockroaches.

Yes it's true they haven't won a championship since back then. And it's understandable that younger fans see the modern Cowboys as frauds and choking and easy to laugh at.  There's a long history of hatred for the Cowboys and it's great seeing them choke like this especially Jerry spending so much money on a new stadium and them having high expectations.  We can laugh at them, but many Eagles fans are also bothered by the media hyping them up, announcers always talking them up and showing bias and always, always want them to lose.

In the 70's to early 80's, before my father bought a big satellite dish (not DirecTV, a C Band dish), I LIVED for Monday Night Football and Howard Cosell's highlights. Unless the Eagles played the Redskins ( grew up in Redskins territory), I rarely ever got to see the Eagles play. So MNF halftime highlights were all I had to live on to cultivate my Eagles fandom.

Once we got the C Band dish, I could find the satellites where the Playboy chann... err... I mean where The Eagles games were being played, and I was all set! I loved it too, because there were no commercials. During the time when everyone else was watching commercials, I was listening to the announcers talk amongst themselves or review replays and talk about what they wanted to talk about after the commercials. Then Sunday Ticket was invented and ruined everything.

Oh what a glorious morning, oh what a glorious day

So, what do we want tonight?

A blowout and national embarassment so all the coaches get fired?

A close fought loss?

A Close fought win?

We blow out TB and siranni and johnson get another year

none of the above

Yep, MNF was it.  I remember at first only being allowed to see the 5 minute intro which I loved,  Then, as I get a bit older I was allowed to stay up until the halftime highlights and that was the highlight as you say.

Later on I was in NoVA and we had the ESPN highlights but also Eagles Digest from Spads.  I lived for that weekly drop and eventually that turned into this place and the website.

Regarding the commercials, the GamePass feeds internationally have done some different things over the years but sometimes we'd just get the feed from the stadium with the announcers talking about preparing a replay, etc. just as you say.    Sometimes we get the US commercials.  Sometimes just a static "we'll be right back" screen.

I mean look at this point we are in the playoffs and the #2 seed just got eliminated. There is every chance we could beat Tampa and then who knows what might happen. Sure if we win tonight and then play Detroit close but lose then Sirianni gets another year and BJ might well be back but I think every time you make the playoffs you've got to go all in right?

So after the jubilation of the Cowboys getting pounded in Jerry’s World, it’s back to the reality of what will happen with this Eagles team at TB tonight.

As a lifelong Eagles fan, there has never been a moment where I contemplated about watching the Birds play, especially a playoff game. I would even listen to the radio broadcast back in the 80s, as the American Forces Network was single TV channel and only able to broadcast one NFL game per time slot. And most of the time it was Cowboys/Niners or Steelers. Monday Night Football games meant / means getting up at 2:30 am. Going to work after watching those night games wasn’t always fun, but it was an automatism in the past.

It will most likely be that way tonight as well, but for the first time ever I’ve actually thought about not watching at all. I know I’m beating a dead horse by saying it’s been the most frustrating season ever for me. Sure, there have been plenty of disappointments and heart breaking moments, but nothing has come close to being this upset with a team that is in the playoffs.

I wish there was one glimmer of hope that this team can miraculously turn things around and actually play a good game on both sides of the ball, but realistically I just don’t see it. Our D really stinks and having Slay back isn’t going to transform them into a competent group. Can’t stop the run or the pass, so how will they get off the field?!

It’s so weird that I can’t get excited about a playoff game… More worried about another embarrassing beat down…

I'm not watching. Would mean me staying up until likely a 4:30 finish and i aint doing that again to see a another turgid eagles showing

I'll probably wake up in the night and check the score

Yeah I mean I am still torn. After the Giants loss I said I was not going to get up at 1am to watch but as the week has gone on and with Dallas losing yesterday now I am starting to toy with the idea. In all likelihood I will put the Steelers Bills game on in bed and if I wake up during the game then I will watch.

I'm not trying to go to bed early, not really sleeping, and then waking up at 2:25 to watch.  Not happening this time.  First playoff game ever that I'll not watch live.  Never thought that would happen but here we are...

I still expect so little out of this team. I’m just seeing what happens. I take comfort knowing we can’t lose in Dallas next week. Beyond that, I’m just sorta apathetic as to what we do. If we win, and look good doing so, then maybe some excitement will creep in.

I think my problem with this team is that week after week (since the SF loss) we've been saying this team needs to respond. And week after week they haven't. They've played bad sloppy football and they've lacked fight.

btw - How bout dem boyz!!
