He didn't quit on his route. He adjusted his route because he beat Sneed off the line so bad

Different play. He might have a had a TD catch in the right corner but he slowed.

I don’t quite get the rule. So 2nd and 35 for example there’s illegal contact, 5 yard penalty and an automatic first down. How does that make sense? Surely on that basis offside should be an automatic first down.

I think the league wants to disincentivize defenses from using penalties as strategy and discourage them from just doing it and hoping they get away with it. If it’s just a 5 yard penalty, you’d see defenses being more aggressive and grabby since the punishment if caught isn’t as severe. Now that it’s an automatic first down, the risk/reward favors the offense and pushes the advantage in their favor. That leads to more plays, points, offense etc which is what the league wants.

Good team win but I have to give props to Hassan Reddick.  He played like a man possessed from start to finish.  You could tell this game meant more to him.  His energy was present the whole game.  Love that guy!

Everyone in the media keeps mentioning how if MVS catches the ball they win the game. 1:40 left on the game clock and I believe we had a timeout left. We would have had a chance to score.

We had all three timeouts at that point. Definitely weren't out of it had they scored.

Woke up and got the rush of euphoria all over again. 9-1 baby!

They put him in victory formation plays in case of a fumble

Thought we would see a Nolan Smith a little more out there.  We could have used his "freakbeast" RAS out there chasing around Mahomes during his chicken with head cut off routine.

@Connecticut Eagle

I’m not going back to find the post but want to reiterate a great point you made about the Eagles struggling against Indianapolis and Arizona last year, the Arizona game in particular because of the reliance on the WR screen. We survived an exotic defensive game plan and can now learn from it.

We never throw into the blitz 😞

If we run into KC again, you’d have to think Spags emptied most of his clip. We should have much better answers next time.

Fine with the rule - should just be a point of dis-emphasis.

I'd be fine with that... if I could trust the officials to understand 'situations' and not be stupid with it.   (Exhibit A - Super Bowl ending.   That was a moment to keep the flag in the pocket and let the players determine the outcome, that was not egregious... and that's what it needed to be to be flagged.).  But some of them seem to think that they matter more than the game itself.

Surprised it took this long.   My guess is there were some visa issues involved.

I'm ecstatic we won a Super Bowl six years ago. And I love that the team right now is very good. I like Sirianni and I liked Pederson. But good God almighty, firing Reid is still something that pisses me off. Maybe I'm silly but I actually like being one of the top teams in the league year after year after year after year.

In his heart of hearts, Lurie has to admit that he absolutely blew that. He had the modern day equivalent of Shula or Landry and gave up halfway through his coaching career. Moronic.

Revisionist History on Reid.   He NEEDED to go, it was the best thing for him and for the Eagles. He was burned out here. I mean it's like you forget all the stupid stuff he did the last 3 years he was here. He would have never won a SB here.

The end of games or halfs would be egregiously tough to watch. I think it's one of those things with unforeseen consequences that would change the entire dynamic of the game.

Some of them already are with how frequently we see flags as it is.

Trouble is.. the 'unforeseen consequences' of the rule as written already HAS changed the entire dynamics of games.  It can literally determine outcomes... and has.

I’m good with automatic first downs. Eli Ricks needs to stop panicking and grabbing players for absolutely no reason.

This was low key the most important take away last night.

I said win or lose that I like the fact that we got to see them prior to a possible Super Bowl match up.

We had at least one, but I believe we had all 3.   There was definitely time for at least a tying FG attempt.     So, everyone in the media who says that has a clear bent towards KC, OR they are morons who didn't watch the game and understand the full situation.   It was a 'go-ahead' TD drop, not a winning TD drop.  They might have won had he made that play... but they might NOT have won too.  Plenty of time left.   Hell, Mahomes and KC got into FG range in a playoff game (to win) with only 16 seconds and 3 timeouts.    The Eagles definitely would have had a chance.   Of course, they also had a chance against the Jets... and did nothing with it.

After last nights game its clear to me that Brian Johnson holds this offense back

All year we've been told the eagles are top 5 in yards and points so how Bad could BJ be

This offense with all its talent is over coming BJs awful play calling.

On a side note everyone will be talking about WR Scantling big drop yet no mention from the media if the obvious holding call against jalen carter, the O line got knocked down and beat and from the ground grabs jalen carter and tries to drag him down.

I get the refs were letting guys play and holding could be called every play but when its so overtly obvious it needs to be called, sure the dude dropped it so it didnt matter but it could have.

I could be wrong, but I feel like illegal contact isn't thrown that often. We see it maybe once every 10 games or so? Technically the flag on Bradberry in the super bowl was for holding, not illegal contact.

Poe-tay-toe, Poe-tah-toe.    Same result.

Chiefs were giving up 16 a game and have a really really good defense.  The Eagles stuck with the run and scored when it mattered.
