Very few places on earth can be as exhausting as the blog on what otherwise should be a fairly non-controversial aspect of a football game.

Then stop arguing semantics with everyone…

Cripes, Matt. You were replying directly to me and my point and in doing so completely missed the point.

Good lord, you guys.

He got into the peyote again…

That takes us back to the Dandy Don and Howard era.

You're only off by about fifteen years. Meredith and Cosell retired from broadcasting in the mid '80s.

Had their time in the 90s.

Well we can agree to disadree. Cause Reid was beyond repairing here. I mean the Juan Castillo debacle alone is enough proof he needed to go.

He thought Kevn Kolb WAS the answer at QB? If Mike Vick didn't fall into his lap- his last 3 years would have been even much worse.

For the record, Braden Mann's punt at the end of the first half which ultimately led to the really stupid extra three points the Chiefs got just before halftime was actually a WORSE punt than the one Siposs hit in the Super Bowl. It landed 34 yards from the line of scrimmage with a pathetic (roughly) 3.20 hangtime. That's four yards (38) shorter and about a third of a second (3.54) lower. At least there were no Eagles defenders like Zach Pascal around to miss the tackle the instant Toney picked up the ball.

I disagree wholeheartedly.  The definition of luck is "when preparation meets opportunity."   As a result luck favors the people who are better prepared.

You’re conflating luck with fortune.

Again, he needed to go also.

 this place is the best

Try catching a wet ball running at full speed, leaning forward, reaching with your fingertips.  I wouldn’t record that as a drop.

It's okay to be fortunate and to acknowledge good fortune.  The Eagles were fortunate MVS dropped a sure TD pass, and were also fortunate the Chiefs didn't convert their 4th and 25 play when the Eagles allowed Justin Watson to get open on a 27-yard route.  Even a bit of good fortune Slay wasn't called for early contact on the play.

The Eagles are 9-1 and very likely to be the #1 seed in the NFC.  I believe they will win at home against BUF and SF to go 11-1.  Barring a lapse in preparation there should be 3 wins at the end of the season against the NYG (2X) and ARI.

It's a fact of life in today's NFL a team can go 13-4 or 14-3 and still have deficiencies that need to be worked on.

SO this narrative that if MVS catches that pass the Eagles lose is kind of based on assuming the birds couldn't tie it up with 1:40 left on the clock and 2 time outs, and all they needed was a FG?

It cannot be assumed that the Birds lose if MVS catches that pass. I am not saying you are saying it, but it is implied, and all we have heard about the past day from the "talking heads" was just that. That the Chiefs were one dropped pass away from winning.

And thats just not true. Not even close to being true. I trust Hurts, Brown, Swift, the Oline, smith and Elliot enough that with 1:40 and two time outs only needing a fg... they would likely get that done.

42 degrees in the rain. Worth mentioning.

Doug looks pretty dialed in. Just not about football.

"I like when the Eagles blitz”

I give credit to Desai here, I was calling for him in the game to start pressuring Mahommes, he did it on the second play, but sparingly. After half time he did ramp it up. And IT WORKED. rushing Mahommes made him rush his timing, and in that weather, you only need a split second, or a few inches of differences between a catch and not a catch as we saw.

I'm enjoying all this luck talk nationally. Give the Eagles a chip on their shoulders.

The Eagles are lucky talk is also overblown. Look at our own red zone turnovers, 1st down turnovers, lack of tipped INTs (just watch the Jets game), incorrect offsides calls on the tush push, etc.

Do you need some fortune? Sure. But we'd be what...8-2 instead? Because we were much better than the Jets.

Don't let the facts get in the way of a warm fuzzy thought.

Fair enough.

As frustrating as it was to see the Eagles rush not "get home" the fact that they made sure not to give Mahomes any seams between rushers to escape the pressure  ... and make first downs the way Sam Howell did in the Commanders game ... was a huge plus.  I too give Desai credit.

The one frustrating aspect of Desai is that we seem to get two different versions of him.  The Dolphins and Chiefs games are one version and the Commanders and Cowboys games are another version.

No, fortune favors the bold.

I never said anything about the Eagles losing if MVS catches that pass.  The Eagles wouldn't necessarily have lost if Watson catches the 4th and 25 pass, either.

Both results were good fortune, though.

Building on the luck/good fortune theme, were there any injuries Monday night?

Wasn't that a beer commercial in the 90s?

I have a weird feeling that this Bills game is going to be an absolute handful. Even tougher than the Chiefs game. Not necessarily based on outcome, the Chiefs game obviously came down to the wire, but the Chiefs and Eagles both didn’t play particularly great in that game, but I think the Bills are goin to play well. The Bills are kinda desperate, their offense is dangerous it just makes a lot of mistakes, but the biggest reason I’m uneasy about it is it’s sandwiched between two revenge games. The Chiefs and then the Niners for whining and talking all that trash all off-season, you know the Eagles had that game circled.

Id be super impressed if the Eagles came out and played their best game in this spot, this is a classic letdown situation. The good thing is if anyone would play their best game here, it’s the Eagles. They don’t have a ton of letdowns under Sirianni and Hurts. But if there’s one spot they would, it’s this. Could see them falling behind early again if they come out flat and having to come back. Still gonna pick ‘em to win because they’re the better team, but we’ll see.

This place never fails to amuse me...  We are now on day 2 of whether it was luck or not that the Eagles won.

And me?   Well...

The Game Score Predictions window for the Bills game is open

As always, please tag your prediction post with @mattwill that way I will be sure to see/record it.  Score predictions can also have an optional "Bonus Pick" tiebreaker prediction.  So far over the course of the season 109 different EMB posters have made at least one prediction.

For anyone who missed the results of the first 10 weeks, the link below takes you to a recap of those results

With any other QB, I'd agree with you, but Jalen doesn't have 'letdown games'.

Since the window is open, I'm in:

31-13 Eagles, Bonus: Byard with another INT
