EMB Blog: 2023 Regular Season... and Post Season Blog

Featured Replies

Seahawks will be trying to stay alive in the playoffs and Division tonight.   If they beat Dallas and The Eagles take care of business against the 49ers.  They would be 1 game out of 1st place for the NFC West.  Pete Carroll is 5-3 Vs Dallas since coaching for Seattle including going 4-1 in the last 5.  That one loss was a playoff game where the Seahawks lost in Jerry World 24-22 so even that game was close. Maybe the Seahawks matchup well with them.   The Cowboys have won 13 straight Home Games.   I would not be shocked at all if the Seahawks pulls the upset tonight.  The Eagles play in Seattle in 2 weeks.

Why? He improved a team from 1 to 4 wins.

SI really puts itself in an awful spot by selecting this person so early (due to scheduling for photo shoots, writing, etc.). It’s an embarrassing choice.

FYI, he had 3 regular season losses after the bye before this, so they gave him his 4th.  Still an impressive stat.

Also btw, Siri is now undefeated (4-0) after the bye.  Smaller sample size but off to a good start.

Does the SB bye count?

Soon....

I have very little interest in a 4th/5th round CB.  That player would basically be the same as Jobe, Ricks, Ringo.  No need for a 4th guy that's basically the same as these 3.

Maybe an ace slot DB, Sainristil or something but stacking long shots seems to have been done. I expect that Howie targets a FA as the long-term solution as CBs actually do become available. Getting through 2024 with JB and Slay seems dicey, but that’s what the contracts portend, right?

I'm just hoping that the secondary can stay healthy for the next matchup. Would be nice to have the actual starters out there matching up with Dallas. Slay should follow Lamb wherever he goes.

I said the same thing but I'm sure we will see highlights of Lamb beating Morrow and Vansumeren down the sideline for a TD.

Wow right in Jerry's backyard.  You know he's pulling the trade this off-season now

LOL, Hell nah! for what a 3rd down only pass rush specialist? No thank you.

Why would Seahawks wear those unis in a road game? Way to stick the middle finger up at your fans. Imagine the Eagles doing one of their select kelly green games on the road.

The fans were excited to have them again this year, and I'm sure merch sales were strong.  If they expand it next year (are there rules for how many times you can do it?), having 2 home games then adding a road game like in Dallas or NY might be fun.

Me personally, I would love if the Eagles wore KG in Dallas. It's more of a big F you to Jerry and puts a lot more attention on the Eagles. Plus you know Eagles fans travel. I also always liked the way the Eagles KG looked under the lights/roof at the old Cowboys stadium.

Seattle wearing them on the road is weird though.

I agree.

But they likely won't draft a corner high with Slay and Bradberry contracts so I think we're stuck with what we got, except maybe a depth free agent.

Of course this happens when they play the Cowboys in 2 weeks.

Sims could be a Pascal type. We don’t really have that dirty work slot guy who will block his butt off.

Does Slay ever cover Lamb?  Doesn't seem like it.  Anytime Lamb makes a big play or TD it's usually Bradberry or someone else not named Slay.

Don't see why they can't put Slay on him and let other guys beat you.  Slay may not be who he used to be but he's still our best CB.

That is difficult to do with any receiver that moves inside and outside unless you are playing straight up man every down. Even then you are asking other slot corners to move outside, or boundary corners to move inside. Not all corners have that flexibility/skillset.

Geno has regressed this season after a career year last year.  If you get pressure on him, he tends to make some really stupid decisions.  DAL will likely get pressure from their DL, so I doubt SEA will seriously threaten them.

It should, the site I was on said 4-0.  Reid it said 3 losses prior to the recent one and wasn't clear if they were counting SB or not.

Seattles defense looked horrible the last I saw them. I expected more.

Well... if its about who creates the most buzz... Deion wins.  While they didn't get the results on the field, they did get the University of Colorado in the news.

It was, at best, a mixed bag for BJ.

And yes, the 2 turnovers were bad option decisions. Needs to get better. However, when so much of your offense is RPO, you’re going to have some plays that the defense fools you in to the wrong decision.

Hurts needs to recognize when they have lost and just eat it. On the INT, even if he somehow gets the ball around the edge rusher, Stoll was blanketed. The play was DOA, just throw the ball down at his feet and try the next one.

Regarding the bolded sentence.  I respectfully disagree.  We will know when this Offense has gotten its act together when it is consistently dictating to the nDefense what is going to happen, and the D is reacting to it rateher than it reacting to the D.

😏, well damn! Thanks for sharing this, good stuff, I hadn't really started looking into Miami yet...time to change some narratives 🙂 .

This one is a little more specific, but can you guess the last time Dallas won an away game against team that won double digit games that year? (Which Miami is certain To do)

Then not 4-0.  🤷‍♂️

So it's now five months until the 2024 draft.

The priority should be to maintain dominance on both sides of the LOS.  It is the team's identity.  Kelce may retire.  Driscoll is a FA.  Lane is becoming fragile.  Cox and Graham may retire, although neither look like they are ready to.  We may not be able to keep Williams around after '24.  After Hurts, our lines are the reason we have been this good.

After that, the most glaring need is CB.  Our starters over 30.  Our NCB can't stay healthy.

Then you have basic roster construction.  Off-ball LBs, a successor for Goedert, RBs, general depth.

The allocation of finite draft resources and how Howie uses free agency will be interesting and well-discussed, as always.

Well said, very well said.

Whose the odd man out then? No way we have 7 active WR's on gameday.

He wasn't much of a factor in the Eagles game and isn't even in the top 20 of PRWR for the season, Von Miller is not what he used to be, only played 21 (32%) snaps vs the Eagles.
