Now I see why that play didn’t pop.

I think that's more a play design issue.  It's kind of a dumb criticism by Heff. I think Jurgens is setting like he has been coached to set.  He's not reacting to the DT but shifting to his right at the snap.  I don't think he was expecting the DT to cross his face but the play design suggests they are not that worried about him.   The DT did not disrupt the play.  It doesn't look like he made Swift change directions at all.  It looks like the real issue was how fast Greenlaw pursued the play.

I'd be good with bringing him back

Long read, I apologize in advnce. After a few days to digest the last couple of weeks and the first 2/3 of the season in general...so many games in a compressed period of time for both the Cowboys (3 in 11 days) and Eagles (3 in 14 days), I figured I would share my thoughts.

Exhaustion:

As a few have already mentioned, that schedule takes a toll on players, physically and mentally. The Eagles definitely had the harder road having to face KC, Buff, and SF. DAL not as difficult of opponents obviously other than SEA but still alot of football in a short period of time for both teams.

I could tell last Thursday night it had taken a toll on DAL, the defense was lethargic the majority of the game and just didn't look as quick and aggressive against SEA until the last hree drives. A lot of that was due to a great gameplan and execution on the part of SEA, getting rid of the ball quick to neutralize the DAL defensive strength, speed and aggressiveness.

I thought at the start of the PHI game against SF the Eagles defense was going to have a great game, they did not look sluggish at all, even after playing into OT against the Bills and taking so many snaps. I was wrong and they too began to start showing the effects of the compressed schedule against a fresher team.

SF:

Damn, what can you say really. They whipped both DAL and PHI handily. I was very surprised that they won the way they did against the Eagles. I was really expecting a break out game for the Eagles offensively, i know that probably sounds crazy, but i just thought coming off of big wins over KC and BUF that the Eagles were ready to just let it all go and put together a great game against a hated rival.

The Niners are an offensive anomaly, they have three players they can put anywhere on the field and play at a high level. The fact that you can take CMC, Deebo, and Aiyuk and line them up as WR or RB and execute your offense is a luxury no other team really has. Then add Kittle and the FB hurting the defense when you try and focus on the three previously mentioned weapons. Combine all that with the fact they move players to spots or motion them to create space, mismatches, separation, and deliver the ball so quickly is maddening. Imagine scheming all week and you think you have the answer only for them to counter almost immediately with in game adjustments just demoralizes defenses, and then it snowballs because the offense tries to keep up. F them, there will be a game in the near future where either the Eagles or the Cowboys take them out.

Eagles Offense:

I don't understand the offense there. The route combinations need to improve to get the two really good receivers open more and on time. Snapping the ball and sitting back patting the ball waiting for them to find open field isn't going to work in the NFL. You've typically got 2.5 to 3 seconds to get the ball away, design the route tree around that. Run more often, even if it's only getting two yards you have to run the ball to keep the safeties engaged closer to the box to free up passing lanes. Lastly, in game adjustments. Unless the Eagles begin to start hot, they cannot wait until halftime to make adjustments, as the playoffs come along in game adjustments are going to be necessary and critical. Having been critical of the offense I can also say this, the Eagles easily have one of the two top rosters in the league, if not THE #1 roster.

Eagles @ Dallas this week:

The Eagles can come to Dallas and win...as a matter of fact I expect a very different team shows up in Dallas this week as opposed to what we saw Sunday against SF. They are going to be pissed off and ready to go. It's the Cowboys, they're hated, and the Eagles want to show they are much better than what they just put on the field against SF.

Dallas better come prepared and start steady and control the ball, they do not need to get into a situation where they are trying to score late to win or tie, that is disaster waiting to happen.

It's a divisional game with a lot on the line, but more impactful to me is just the fact that it is a divisional rival with deep history of animosity. The Eagles want to stop DAL home win streak, DAL thinks it is still in the hunt for the division championship. It should be a great game, hopefully no fights or needless non-football related activity.

Looking forward:

Teams lose games, and most have a stinker of a game somewhere in the season, DAL has had two (ARI & SF). What really matters is what kind of football and cohesiveness does the team play with in the playoffs, what is their mental make-up?  I have said a few times that DAL will maintain the #5 seed and play the winner of the NFCS in the WC, I still believe that is how the season unfolds. The only question right now is who gets the #1 seed and where does DAL go for the divisional round? PHI or SF? I would love to see DAL make a run through the playoffs and meet PHI in PHI for the NFCCG. It will send notice to the league that the NFCE is once again the NFCBest.

I'll make a prediction and bonus pick later in the week or the weekend.

Oh...congrats on the LB Leonard pickup, you guys do need the help and I hope the guy can continue a good carrer, just not against DAL. I hope it doesn't come back to haunt DAL.

Since Cox injury doesn't look all that serious, I don't think Suh is necessary at the moment. At most he'd be DT5 and get maybe 10-15 snaps a game. I think we'd be better off trying to get S/LB depth. I'd take him over Tui though.

@mattwill

iggles - 34

cowturdz - 27

bonus - One of the Eagles defense will suplex a cowboy on thier sideline. Dolly Parton will then break it up by shoving Shaq Leonard out of the way, who will then poke her in face, rupturing one of her botoxed lips.

It isn't. It's a fake account and it's always shared on here.

What are the odd the Jets let go Saleh? And would the Eagles be brave enough to fire Desai after one season for Saleh?

If we make it to the Super Bowl, no need to fire Desai, someone will just hire him as a head coach.   And then we hire Saleh.  Boom.

Win - Win.  :smoke:

Been advocating to bring him back for a couple of weeks now.  We need another DT to add to the rotation to keep reps for Cox, Davis and Carter down.  Would allow Williams to play more outside as well.

When was the last time we won at dallas?

They could lose out and they wouldn't fire him. They're incredibly stubborn doing things their way and with their guys.

Desai definitely deserve some of the blame. He needs to be better. But like solak said, he’s tried all sorts of stuff just to see if things stick or get guys reps in case they eventually need them in a big spot.

But I went back and looked the 2021 defense had the same exact problems in that tweet. When I look at this team, there’s 11 guys on defense and we are terrible at the slot And bad at linebacker. Our safeties are maybe average. I think Blankenship could be your Marcus Epps if you have a CJGJ making interceptions and plays but they don’t. Kevin Byard has been about average. So your safety position is average. You can be average at safety if you have good linebackers and slot corner. You can’t be average at safety and be bad at the slot corner position and bad at linebacker. You’re not gonna be able to cover up 3 positions and have 2 average positions. Basically playing with half a defense that’s either bad or average. That’s the biggest issue is the lack talent to be an upper tier defense.

Last year I don’t think people realize linebacker we were probably closer to above average with edwards and white. And at safety I would argue they were at least above average to good. Imo they significantly downgraded at both positions, and now don’t have maddox for the entire year, so again really significantly downgraded

I don’t know if desai is good or not. However, I do think he would be giving you better defense and performance if he was given the talent that Jonathan gannon was given last year this year. Personally, I don’t think you can be a good enough defense and have 3 positions with lack of talent the Eagles have.

This is why I think it's funny that people say the Eagles were "exposed." Anyone with half a brain that's watched them play know that they struggle covering the middle of the field due to the lack of talent. Aiyuk, Deebo, CMC and Kittle versus our backup LBs, backup/replacement slot CB and an average (but below average in pass coverage) group of safeties stood literally no chance unless if the DL stood on their heads.

Given his reaction last night, you'd think his career was over. But he's not even ruled out for this week.

I don't feel great about Sunday, but I still think the Eagles will get the 1 seed even with a loss. The Niners will lose at least one more game.

I always wondered if Wentz screwed up his knee even worse by playing 2-3 more plays, then walking to the locker room after his injury.  Was thinking about that when the Jags couldn't be bothered to put Lawrence on the golf cart.

Swift very clearly takes a wider angle and retreats a yard or so toward his own end zone to beat the immediate pressure.
