Yeah it’s week 14 and he hasn’t made any adjustments. If it really takes a complete ass whooping at home to make changes then so be it but I doubt anything changes.

Vic would have been nice but Gannon and AZ screwed them

Since Cox injury doesn't look all that serious, I don't think Suh is necessary at the moment. At most he'd be DT5 and get maybe 10-15 snaps a game. I think we'd be better off trying to get S/LB depth. I'd take him over Tui though.

If it is either/or for a LB or Suh, then that isn't even a real choice.  Gotta get a good LB (or even an average one, which is what I am expecting from ShaqL), if we can.

If we can do both, add Suh even for 15 snaps a game.  He still had the mustard last year.

Too late. Time to cancel the three ring circus.

He's an immediate upgrade over Marlon Tuipaloutoaotualuato, and more importantly, let's us use Milton more at DE.

There are definitely adjustments to be made. And there’s been some over the course of the season. If you go look against the dolphins, there was definitely an adjustment.  the commanders in the second half there were definitely adjustments. Desai has to be better and not wait til halftime in most games to make them.

that said I think people  comprehend how bad the eagles linebackers are and how bad the slot corner solution is. You essentially have three guys out on that field that have no business playing. You’re you’re essentially playing  with eight competent starters, and 3 that have no business either being on a team or being a starter. Because that’s how bad Morrow, Ellis and Bradley Roby are.

And then you compound all of it because you don’t have the safeties like you had last year to make up for the fact that you have bad linebackers and a bad slot corner. The reason the Eagles were able to survive last year when  Maddox went out with because they had Chauncey Gardner Johnson just moved into the slot. When the Eagles struggled they had a play Scott and cjgj/maddox were both out.

This is really more like 2021 where had a talent problem. Your personnel is not good enough. Whatever adjustments he makes teams are going to eventually figure it out and they’re going to attack where your weakness is. You’re not fixing the overall problem with this defense until you get to the off-season where you can draft and you can find some guys to fill voids that they didn’t correctly do this off-season.

Scott has the best game of his career against Miami.  Then got cut 😅

My overall point in this is basically there’s only so many adjustments you can make for basically having three guys on that football field that are not any good. You are essentially playing with 8 competent starters and 3 guys who are basically bargain bin 99 cent store players. Really hard to make adjustments and cover up for the fact that you have 27% of your defense that shouldn’t be out there.

@mattwill

31-27 Eagles.

Goedert goes 6 for 60 and 6, baby.

Marlon T is the JAGiest JAG to ever JAG. If your whole thing is elite DL waves then you can't send him out to get steamrolled in front of Nicholas freaking Morrow.

Sign Suh. Or give Ojomo a shot. Or just risk giving Carter and Davis more snaps. Or really anything except more Marlon T. Should have always been a PS guy, his usage has never made sense. Must be awesome in meetings, I don't know.

Agree.

Desai isn't great and has lots to improve on, but he's dealing with these personnel issues.

He DID in fact make adjustments throughout the season.  Against the Rams, Kupp was killing them and then was shut down in the 2nd half.  Against the Dolphins and Chiefs, they shut them out with 0 points in the 2nd half.  He's been making adjustments.

Some of it is also the players.  Slay and Bradberry are veterans that both got contracts to remain with the team...and haven't been great.  Part of that issue, is that they relied on injury prone Maddox again.  They've had to add a bunch of pieces this year from trades, signing scraps and practice squad to fill in the roster.

It's coaching and game planning for sure, but it's also personnel.

Yeah I meant more so in-season adjustments than in-game. It probably is a personnel issue but also tough to believe that the rest of the talent on defense can’t make up for it with better scheming or something.

As long as he doesn’t expect us to reimburse him for the $10,000 he’s about to lose.

Yeah just because of his experience he could probably have more say in what they do. I got a feeling Desai has his hands tied.

Brandon Graham also plays snaps at DT.  59 defensive snaps against SF, Reddick had 42 and Graham had 25, so I assume 7-8 of those are inside.  You've got Cox, Davis, Carter, Williams, and some from Graham.  Not sure Suh would get much at all.  EDGE is Reddick, Graham on one side and Sweat, Nolan Smith on the other.

Hopefully Cunningham can go against DAL, which would mean he and Leonard would see the bulk of time with Morrow backing up.

The secondary is in a spot where they have to get better play from Byard and Roby.  Hopefully it's a question of them getting acclimated to the scheme and they will improve.

I agree. Desai has made some and he has a long ways to go as a DC. I don’t know if he’s good or bad. He might get a talented defense like 2022 in 2024 and see him make leaps like Gannon did and maybe he’s even better against better offenses.

but to me, the biggest issue is personnel. Bradberry and slay have regressed a little bit. Which I think we all kind of figured they would at their age. The problem is you regressed significantly at linebacker. You went from above average to bad. At slot corner because Maddox went down early in the year and McPhearson got hurt and you don’t have somebody like CJ to just step into the slot. So your slot position has massively been downgraded. I would also argue byard and Blankenship hasn’t been as good as CJGJ and Epps. And Blankenship was playing better as a backup then brown has so far

Speaking of bets, a podcast I listen to challenged the Kelces to a fundraiser bet. Wants to see which side can earn the most money for charity. It's a far more popular podcast than the Kelces so they'll have an advantage, but the Kelces obviously have connections too. I want to see if they take them up on it.

Ellis had no clue what he was doing. Not sure how much you can help that. He was out there guessing and he was wrong just about every time

Just saying with morrow, Ellis and Roby out there you are playing with 3 bad players. It’s essentially 8 on 11 against the best offense in the league that exploits linebackers

Whatever.  Desean spent less on a bottle of champagne when he signed with the R-words.
