Only reason i can think with penny is they want an insurance policy if one of the top 3 gets hurt that knows the offense/system. Otherwise I’m with you. I don’t think he gets claimed. Then again i didn’t think Barnett would either.

Yea, but if he's inactive then it's not a gameday insurance policy. Just a week to week, which he could probably do on the PS. He got peanuts on the open market and hasn't done anything since. Maybe someone claims him because he's cheap, but I dunno.

Cowboy Joe on here is more of an Eagles fan than you today.

Because I'm right? Nah. Ertz wanted to go closer to his family hence AZ. You think he'll turn down a shot at the 49ers to win a ring and be near them? Doubt it. Do I want him? Yes, but at the same time I think location will win out.

I think more of insurance policy for the season and not as much in the middle of individual games. Like if swift got seriously hurt in the Dallas game. Not so much for that Dallas game but the next 4.

There’s probably a team that would. like with robinson hurt for the commanders or Taylor out multiple weeks for the colts, wouldn’t be shocked if one took a flier. Also forgot about Seattle right now. Walker is still hurt and the rookie is also hurt. So he would make sense for them to claim as he knows their offense

Hurts last season could do it all. Not sure why we’re seeing some type of drop. Could it be because he has a new QB coach and OC?

Defenses have figured out how to take away the zone-reads. The only successful runs are designed keepers.

Saw this on ESPN yesterday, opponents are also playing a lot more split safety to take away the go routes.

Johnson may not be as good an OC as Steichen.  But he's not facing the same schemes that Steichen did last season either.

Wow - surprised they cut Elliss. Maybe he signs back to the PS if he clears waivers I guess. Good special teams guy.

Hopefully this means Cunningham is ready.

Odd move.  No depth there whatsoever.  One injury at the LB position and we are screwed.

Could be like josh Allen. He’s not as great as his best year of his career consistently. And he’s not as bad as his worst year. argument could be made jalen is somewhere in the middle of 2022 and 2021.

I think Allen is more like Wentz without the injury. Lots of hero ball. Just surprised he’s not injured more like Wentz

Ertz lost 3 steps a few years ago.  He is washed.  He also gets injured all the time now.

It’s not about josh Allen the player. More about josh Allen’s best year was a couple years ago. He’s yet to play at that standard consistently. But he also hasn’t been as bad as his lowest point. He’s likely somewhere between the two which is still very good just not ridiculously great like his best year.

Seems more like a game plan and play call issue than Hurts. Nick and Johnson should adapt better

Dak? Gross

It'll be nice to get Cunningham back.  He's the most important defensive player we've had since Brian Dawkins.

I might actually hit on my offseason prediction that Blankenship would be a Pro Bowler.

49ers want Zach Ertz just so that we don't get him.  They've been trying to play chess with Howie all season long.

Maybe that’s why it took so long for Leonard to sign. He wanted 53 and the Eagles had to cut Elliss to make it work but they needed him against SF.

Good, I’ll chip in some money for some of those world-class Baltimore hookers and blow.

Also, reported.

Nobody is saying they don't need to run. What I and I believe @ManuManu overall point is they failed at it early against SF and due to the flow of the game and situation, they found themselves in a quick hole when 49ers scored basically back to back TD's while our offense had 2 plays in between that Nick was fine giving up on. Once your down 21-6 in the 3rd, establishing the run isn't at the top of the priority list.

NEXT TIME, they need to do a better job with both success and establishing the run before the game starts to get out of hand. It's not that complicated.

That is incorect. Down 21-6 you are 1 score away from making it a one possession (7 point) game. There was most definitely time there to try to establish the run. Since passing on 3rd and long wasnt working, it would have made sense to hope to get in to some 3rd and 5 scenarios. Which doesnt even require any big runs. Just get 2 yards here, 3 yards there...

I would have loved to pass from 3rd and 5 and have the option of Hurts running to pick up those yards. I believe we would have sustained more drives. Scored more points, and limited SFs opportunities.

I love the recognition for Reed, but as one of the biggest Blankenship supporters around, Im shocked that he leads the position in voting.

I don’t know if anybody else listen to a Philly special podcast where they broke down the 49ers and Eagles game. But they discussed about the pass rush. Which is frankly after listening to it, really not good.

After the first two drives by the 49ers where they had two QB hits, the rest of the game they had one. Purdy threw on average 2.85 seconds. Add on when the Eagles tried to send five or more guys, Brock Purdy was 10 for 11 for 238 yards and three touchdowns. And he had a 9.4 yards per attempt, which would be the highest of any quarterback this year, when facing five or more rushers.

On top of all that, the eagles on the season have seven sacks on third down, which would be the lowest in the NFL . And they’re only getting a sack on third down 5.3% of the dropbacks on 3rd down. Also, worst in the NFL.

The DL regressed over the last month, it was on par with last year's through the same number of games until the last 4 weeks. Part of it is playing tough QBs to sack, but I also think they've been overworked because of injury, they aren't sharing snaps nearly as much this year. Because last year, the Eagles sack totals absolutely exploded in the 2nd half of the season. This year the opposite. But last season they were fresher so it makes sense. Also think scheme has something to do with it. Nothing I've seen from the Eagles defense this year has impressed me on any level and they're capable of so much more.

Great points all around.

He played his tail off against us, looked pretty good.

I wonder if his so called "regression” has more to do with the team around him.  (Both offense and defense)

Except we passed our way into a one score game and then it once again became a 2 score game. Because, they tried to run, failed and it led to 3rd and long and a 3 and out.
