Somewhere, Bacarty is crying.

There was some idle chatter yesterday that the Steelers may be looking to move on from Tomlin in the off-season.  His post game presser looked like a man who knew his job was at risk.

Frankly it’s likely time the Steelers move in another direction. The team has basically been stuck at the same spot for multiple years now. They are in purgatory. They are not good enough to win a SB and not bad enough to be picking extremely high in the draft. The fact the Steelers lost to the 2-10 cardinals and patriots at home is is an issue. the patriots tried to give that game away and the Steelers still managed to lose it. Tomlin is still a good coach but sometimes a change has to be made cause need a new direction and voice.

Still can't believe the NFL gave us a rest disadvantage against the Bills, 49ers and Cowboys in 3 consecutive games.

Off topic: I can't believe it but the strength of the Flyers is goaltending.  Both Hart and Ersson are legit #1's.  We've been waiting so long for this.

I went to the game last night in Tempe and Hart was fantastic. They’re a fun team to watch. Lots of hustle and some good pieces. They’re building something there.

I have less issue with the fullback/big back idea. However the get tyree jackson back is not happening. He is on the crap giants with Waller is out and he’s done nothing. Cause he is what he is a fringe roster player. Then saying Nolan smith should just be taught how to be a Rb when he’s a DE and having trouble adjusting to that role is laughable. Also the whole premise because vansumeren was good in Hs as a fullback means he’ll be great at it in the nfl. Just cause you did something in Hs at a high level doesn’t mean he is just "more advanced than the normal fullback” nor that he would even be good at it at the nfl level. He had 9 carries, 5 games in 1 year at Michigan at FB then he went LB. So he hasn’t done it in nearly 4 years. If Michigan or Michigan state thought he was going to be more advanced then the normal fullback then they’d likely had kept him there and he would’ve continued doing it. There’s plenty of kids in HS who put up good numbers at one position but that doesn’t mean they are just automatically more advanced at the position at the nfl level.

Like I said, I don't agree with who the other poster said should do it. At all. I just do think a FB would help us immensely. Preferably one with some experience.

Let them do the math.

Yup, and it confirmed what I've been saying. If we lose to Dallas and win out...and the Lions win out, the ensuing 14-3 tiebreak comes down to strength of victory with the Lions having the edge when you pick games in a rational matter. But if you give the Commanders, Giants, and Patriots wins you normally wouldn't, it will tilt in the Eagles favor.

Of course these things never go the way you consider they might but it's fun to explore the "what ifs".

Incidentally, I learned something at that debacle of a game on Sunday. VanSumeren's name apparently isn't pronounced the way we've all been doing it. It's not "summer-N". It's "Sooo-merin", like you're talking about the Sumerian people. At least that's what the public address announcer called him.

What's shocking is they didn't trade him before he improved

What's it like to watch an NHL game in a 4000 seat arena?  Every seat has to be pretty good and obviously close to the ice.

Ain't that the truth.  Hope they don't trade Hart but if they do they have to get a top pair defense or top 6 center (center a must rather than a winger) plus 1st round pick(s) and more.  A ransom.

There’s been a lot of talk this week about overreaction to the Niners loss.

Look there’s absolutely been an overreaction in some ways. This is not a bad bad team. They’ve deserved their wins and that shouldn’t be overlooked because of one loss.

That said… That loss should not be under sold. It was a drumming to a really good team. Everything we’ve seen all year was on show again. The difference? Calls went against us in crucial spots, big plays weren’t made by our offense or defense at key times when in other games they have.

This week they play another really good team. A game on the road against a team who have had easier games and come in with more rest than us. It’s a huge game and we need to see the team bounce back. Can they? Of course they can and they have earned our trust. I just really don’t see it. I think Dallas are going to win by more than a TD. They are a really good team at home.

@mattwill

So the little superstitious streak of picking against the Eagles ended last Sunday with the loss to the 49ers.

Murphy’s Law and my negadelphian upbringing aside (not from Philly, but have endured all the hardships of being an 🦅 fan for ages), I will pick with my heart this week.

We go into Dallas and end that home winning streak to shut up Bayless, Irvin and the rest of the haters.

Eagles: 31

Cowboys: 27

Bonus: Our D recovers two fumbles

Eagles - 33

Cowboys - 30

Bonus: Shaq Leonard is involved in a turnover

That is all well and good, but years ago I remember hearing about how great Billy McMullen was in practice.

But, if he's so good... why can't he get on the field in the defense?  Its not like the guys ahead of him are lights out right now.  There's opportunity for him to get some action.   Maybe they are afraid of putting him in a nickel spot and losing his confidence and they only think he can handle outside CB right now, and they can't dislodge Slay and Bradberry.  BUT... it is discouraging that we have a guy that could be that good and he's not on the field, meanwhile our defense is scrambling to cover on the back end.   But, so far, Ringo has had EXACTLY ONE defensive snap.  ONE.

Someone... make it make sense.

If the Eagles come out and look respectable, a lot of the criticism will fade away.   If they beat the Cowboys in their house... it will almost entirely evaporate and last week's game becomes mostly a matter of circumstances and a tough spot for the Eagles.  And more importantly, a win against Dallas, in Dallas, would put them back on their confidence and get them back to playing like they are the better team.  Last week, they started that way... then stumbled in the red zone twice, and the entire game went sideways as soon as the quarter changed.
