As far as cheesesteaks go, I’ve heard (haven’t tried them yet) that there’s a few new good places in the Suburbs - Gazzo’s steaks (Pottstown) Jay’s steaks (Royersford) and Steaks (West Chester).

Sarcone's on 9th St. Their bread is used in a lot of delis and hoagie shops and the ones that use it usually advertise that fact. Sarcone's bread is like perfect pasta. It has just the right amount of crust, sort of al dente. It goes back five generations.

I’d add the daughter and the entire family is awesome.

Oh on the topic of bread. I’m a Bread freak. I love bruschetta and make at home a couple times a month. French baguette, sourdough, Italian loaf, I love it all but it has to be fresh, or as someone else said it can make a meal less than great.

Cape May is gorgeous, had to be there a few times for a contract @ USCG, first drive from Philadelphia to CM I was surprised at how rural it is.

Heading down to our shore house in Cape May with the wife and kids in about two hours. The town does a great "Xmas in Cape May" every year. Whole town is lit up, outdoor shopping, great food and drinks at Congress Hall, etc. One of our favorite Xmas traditions.

The Eagles secondary is focused on stopping the ‘second play’ with CeeDee Lamb

In week 9 the Dallas Cowboys racked up 333 passing yards, the third-highest total the Eagles defense has allowed this season, with 191 of those yards coming at the hands of star receiver CeeDee Lamb. As Eagles cornerback Bradley Roby looked on, it became increasingly clear why the Cowboys were having success through the air, especially in the first half, Olivia Reiner of the Philadelphia Inquirer reports.

"A lot of the stuff last game was like the second play,” Roby said. "They were extending the plays, and they were just freestyling and running everywhere. So that’s just really what it was, in my opinion, that [quarterback] Dak [Prescott] would extend the play and they would run another route and we would just not win on those routes.”

Prescott ripped up the Eagles' secondary in the last meeting.

"Guys were kind of able to uncover and make some plays on the back end," safety Kevin Byard said. "And I think that's where a lot of our explosive plays came from in that game. So I think just going into this week, being conscious of that, like, OK, we could be really good on the first play, but also making sure to, hey, Dak can get outside the pocket and extend those plays. So we have to be really good, just make sure we're plastering receivers down the field. We may have to cover two or three routes within one play."

An Eagles secondary that has been scorched for most of the season knows it can't continue to give up big plays against Lamb and the Cowboys if it wants to retain its NFC East lead.

"Simple things, just like being [as] deep as the deepest," Byard said. "Understanding that you can have an aggressive mindset. But at the same time, you have to be careful, because you can be trying to jump some underneath receivers and things like that. But when he does extend those plays, you don't want somebody to get behind you. So just being conscious of that, and also just making sure we're helping out elsewhere on the field. When guys uncover, being able to be the eraser when things like that happen."

And neither is Alex O.  The difference is that Alex O hasn't produced anything for this team, or really even contributed a little bit.  Meanwhile, Elliss has.

They screwed up on this one.  And it's ok to say it.   Every move they make doesn't need to be defended or minimized.

When I suggested a couple of days ago that Elliss might be the guy they released and that he might actually be claimed if they did so because of his special teams productivity, I don't recall a single Eagles fan getting upset about the idea. So all this angst about losing him now seems a bit hollow to me.

Also when you listen to Sirianni's press conference and hear his answer about Elliss, it is pretty obvious that they were not taken by surprise by the claim. They weren't caught with their pants down like they were with Casey Toohill. They would have added him to the PS if things had broken that way, but they weren't really expecting it. They seem satisfied with the addition of Leonard on defense, and they apparently like what they've seen from VanSumeren on special teams.

Also, can you imagine the outrage if they had released Albert O. ("Oh my GOD, they traded a draft pick for him! How could they do that!") or Penny ("He's our power back!") instead. Two days ago no one gave an ish about releasing Elliss and now suddenly he's irreplaceable and Howie is a moron.

I just wanted out there I’ve been saying for a couple weeks they should just cut Julio Jones (or put him on IR with a phantom injury if they didn’t want to risk losing him) because he doesn’t really offer anything and taking up a roster spot cause his name is julio Jones. At this stage of his career he’s not better nor getting reps over Watkins and Oz. Frankly I’d rather call up Greg ward off the PS then keep julio.

No one has even come close to that level of hyperbole. At most has been said was hopefully ST's don't take a hit and Howie may have made a mistake.

I didn't see your suggestion of releasing Elliss two days ago, but I would have had the same response. Why not IR Julio Jones whose hurt and doesn't do anything? Why not try to get Penny or Albert O on the PS? Why not try to get Morrow back on the PS since he already cleared waivers before? Why not Patrick Johnson? Why not Sua Opeta? He cleared waivers last year and is inactive now after his last performance.

Point a finger at Leonard too. Why couldn't he have gone on the PS temporarily for the benefit of the team? Because of his pride?

When you're there, go to George's on Beach Avenue.

And nobody giving the Eagles a chance to win the game at all, everyone picking against them except for Eagles fans.

Name 3 teams, ALL-TIME that have done so. Matter fact, give me 1.

2011Giants 25th

2006 Colts 23rd

2009 Saints 20th

2007 Giants 17th

When we played the Chiefs, they were pretty healthy (all their starters on offense, only missing Bolton on defense). Now? They're missing a bunch.

This is why I can't get too upset at the defense. They've faced healthy, rested top 6 units for over a month. There's a good chance our first two playoff opponents will have worse offenses than these teams (ex: Packers/Rams, then Lions).

For sure there are really good places in the suburbs for hoagies, pizza and steaks.

For hoagies, we used to go to Civeras deli on State Rd and Lansdowne as it was right down the street from my grandma's.  Really good and always on point.  Paganos on Township Line makes bomb hoagies.  Probably the best I ever had.

I think, for some reason, they wanted a look at VanSumeren before officially signing Leonard. Eagles wanted to sign him to the PS, Leonard said only to the 53. We saw what happened last week with the LBs, so the Eagles said ok to the 53.

Right, my problem is the "only to the 53". Leonard could have just went to the PS, get elevated and play against the Cowboys, while the Eagles keep VanSumeren and Elliss on the team. In a week or two you can re-evaluate where things are and cross the road of signing Leonard to the 53 when you get there. He's getting paid from the Colts so it's not like money is an issue.

In the end, it makes more sense to sign Leonard to the 53 if he insists. Just pointing out he could have helped the team more, but didn't.

I've been hesitant to make my pick this week because i just don't have a feel for how this game will go. It's a toss up in my mind.

I think the Eagles are going to come into DAL to prove a point. They are better than what last week showed, and are better than than what the majority of the season has shown, both offensively and defensively. I think they are looking to get on track these next few games leading into the playoffs. A win at DAL, against a hated rival, assuring the divisional championship, and stopping DAL home win streak are all the motivation they need. A win will go a long way to getting the Eagles moving in the right direction going into the last few weeks of the season and the playoffs. The Eagles are a really good team, they have had their challenges lately, but really good nonetheless. As I've said before, I am waiting for the light to just come on for them, when it does and they play with confidence, look out.

As big a fan as I am of DAL, this game is set-up to let a lot of DAL fans down. It is being billed as a must win for the team, for Dak, and the division (I don't agree with the div impact, I don't see PHI losing again IF they lose this game). Will DAL rise to the occasion? I will believe it when I see it. This is the type of game DAL typically falls short in, they play well for a few weeks and have a let down game when it is hyped up the way this game it is being hyped up. In these types of games DAL may play well enough to win but ultimately make mistakes late that costs them the game or they come out and lay a turd like they did at SF earlier this year. DAL still hasn't beaten a really good team, if they are even a little bit satisfied or feeling good about what they have done over the last 4 weeks, I can see that affecting how they come out and play early. They cannot afford to start slow and try and catch-up, they have to match the intensity of a pissed off Eagles team from the get go. I can also see DAL coming out knowing they were in the game in PHI a few weeks ago late and want to show they can beat the defending NFC Champion.

It should be a lot of fun for us fans, I likely won't follow on the board Sunday night unless it gets ugly, which I doubt happens. I've found that I don't follow the game as well while trying to chat it up with you folks.

OK, the pick.

DAL 34

PHI 31

2 TOs for each team, Hurts has 50+ yds rushing.

So what is going to be the LB split this weekend?  Who is starting, who is wearing the green dot?

It's not about production.  It's about uniqueness.  Tone-setting and pulling players off of piles are not unique skills.

Regarding Albert (formerly Alex) O:    I was listening to the Philly Special podcast.  They noted on several occasions since Goedert's injury that Albert was open and for some reason Hurts chose to throw the ball to a covered Brown or Smith.  Albert has the potential to be something special at TE.  Elliss didn't have any upside.

I don't comment on every move.  Enjoy your weekend.

Albert is 25 years old and he's in his 4th year in the league.  And he was available for basically nothing.    I don't see Alex O as having anything that's truly unique.  Does he actually have upside left?  3 years in the league and he's basically a footnote.  What makes Albert have the potential to be anything special?  He seems like LJ Smith, if even that.

Elliss doesn't need to have upside when he has production.  Alex doesn't really have potential to be special.  He's an athletic JAG.   If he truly had the potential to be something special, he'd have started to show it by now.  He's not a rookie, and he's not new to the position, nor the NFL.  This is 4 years in the NFL.  And he played 3 years at Missouri, all at TE.  He is what he is... and what he is isn't good enough to get playing time over Stoll or Calcaterra.

This is a Super Bowl or bust year, and they weakened themselves ON THE FIELD in the present for the misguided hope of better things for the future.
