Nah. Brian Johnson might get a HC job this cycle (2 3rd round picks!) and the offense is still top 10 in every important metric. I'm not even a Brian Johnson fan, but that's an off-season move at earliest.

I can see that happening but honestly any team that gives that dude a HC job is absolutely brain dead. Every game his offense comes out lifeless, he has no feel for the game with playcalling, and his players can't stop turning the ball over.

This is why metrics on their own are useless, but hopefully there's a team who doesn't care and brings him on cause F that dude.

Honestly depends on which Patricia you get. Early in pats tenure then good. Get later in tenure pats and lions then it’s gonna have same issues. frankly they get back maddox it’s gonna immensely help before he gets hurt again. However morrow at linebacker is still a massive issue and if byard continues to play slow also going to be an issue

When has a team had success with a coaching change during the season?

@mattwill

eagles 31

sea pigeons 28

Hurts gives gainwell flu, so Rashaad Penny gets activated and has 125 yds rushing with 2 TDs. Pete Carrol gets so mad he breaks some teeth furiously chewing gum. Jason Peters has two false start penalties then falls down on turf hand signaling to the sideline.

Do you think it could get worse?

Bottom line, this may or may not work, but they were going absolutely nowhere in the playoffs status quo with Desai.

It was a risk they had to take.

Sheil is wrong.

Anyone know which hotel the Eagles are staying at?

No. We aren’t stalkers.

Yeah they did it with Juan Castillo and Todd Bowles wound up having the same issues.

Matt Patricia is a brain.  I’m relatively confident he will bring some new looks to this defense.    I certainly hope to see more aggressive blitz concepts and the front 4 being used more aggressively, etc

With Slay and Cunningham out while going against DK, JSN and Lockett, worse might not be that far off. Hell, with Drew Lock playing against garbage at LB, don't be surprised to see Noah Fant go off.

They were far worse since the bye. Before the bye week they faced 3 top 10 dvoa offenses held Miami’s offense to 10, rams to 14 and Dallas to 23. They were immensely worse after the bye then prior to it.

I can't get on board with those who said Desai and the defense were sucking for weeks, suddenly saying the Eagles panicked by demoting Desai. You can't have it both ways.

The defense has literally been near bottom of the league in all categories for the season….those injuries were there regardless of the coaching change.

Depends on what lock seattle gets. If he’s competent and not mistake prone they likely have success. If he’s like the end of his Denver tenure the eagles will get a couple of turnovers. Eagles still should look better next 3 weeks. You are gonna get maddox back and Cunningham. Plus facing giants, cardinals and giants. Gonna see how well the defense looks when they likely run into Dallas, lions or SF in the divisional round or nfc title game.

I defended DeSai for the majority of the season but the past 2 games were tough to swallow - mostly because the defense just looked overmatched and were dominated.    Obviously that couldn’t continue, imo. I guess we’ll see how much of that had to do with scheme, DeSai, etc

Whether the change was necessary or not, this is just terrible optics for a team supposedly competing for a SB.

I couldn’t care less about optics.

I guess I will stream boys @ bills

for some reason commanders @ rams is a 4:00pm game

I honestly get Greenlaw’s side of this.

Everyone cheered the Dawkplex and now vilifies Greenlaw?  Like Dawk, he came in too high for a tackle and couldn’t get 130lb Smith down.  The whistle blew once he was already trying to lift him to get him on the ground.  Justifiable flag for sure, but I don’t think it was the world’s dirtiest play.  Then he’s got someone who doesn’t belong on the field shouting and putting a hand on him.

I get it.  You’d all be pissed at the Eagles if roles were reversed.

Greenlaw isn't being called dirty for this particular play.  Greenlaw is a dirty player, as evidenced by a long list of offenses, some fined, some not.

The scuffle between him and the sidelines was a whole lot of nothing.  And I mean that, NOTHING.  He wasn't pushed back, he had a hand placed on him.  More violence happens when people enter and exit a subway car.   His REACTION is what caused the escalation.  But, like I said, he's likely dealing with roid rage.  This is who Greenlaw is.

There are other examples, feel free to peruse at your leisure.

If a fan runs onto the field and starts screaming at a player, puts a hand on them, and the player throws a half effort punch…who is going to get in more trouble?

Apples and oranges.

This is gonna look like a personnel issue if the Eagles have the same issues when they run into a team like Dallas, San Francisco, or the lions down the road. If they look as helpless down the road with Patricia, then is it just both DCs or did you not have good enough personnel. Granted Patricia when he gets to those games should have maddox back (if he doesn’t get hurt again), slay healthier anfter knee surgery and Cunningham healthier. So we theoretically should be in a better position to have success.

But the last two games were not the only poor performances they have had was my point.

It’s in Los Angeles. Of course it is a 4pm game

If the status quo was an atrociously bad defense with Desai, then changing things up and seeing if Patricia can somehow get more out of the D was a good move IMO.
