July 1, 20214 yr I get the sense that this was all a formality. They said the prosecutors have had the evidence and all the documents against Weisselberg for 6 months. And its a Grand Jury, so its not going to proceed like a normal case. All we know is Cy Vance is retiring in December. So it won't drag on past the new year. That said, this is pretty weak sauce based on how they were hyping it up. edit: silver lining - this is still very bad for the Trump org. This certifies they are going after the whole company, including the payroll and everyone on it. Can't pin it on Weisselberg. DA's framing it as an elaborate, multi-year conspiracy.

July 2, 20214 yr https://www.nytimes.com/2021/07/01/nyregion/allen-weisselberg-charged-trump-organization.html Trump Organization Is Charged With Running 15-Year Employee Tax Scheme Quote The charges against the Trump Organization and Mr. Weisselberg — whom Mr. Trump once praised for doing "whatever was necessary to protect the bottom line” — ushered in a new phase of the district attorney’s inquiry into the business practices of Mr. Trump and his company. And while the indictment was narrowly focused on the tax scheme, the charges could lay the groundwork for the next steps in the wider investigation, which will focus on Mr. Trump. Quote In the next phase of the broader investigation into Mr. Trump and his company, the prosecutors are expected to continue scrutinizing whether the Trump Organization manipulated property values to obtain loans and tax benefits, among other potential financial crimes...
July 2, 20214 yr Not quoting the long post, but no lender is defaulting a borrower on this, especially since the underlying collateral is impaired. That was a Tweet thread from a clueless person.

For misreporting employee expenses? Legitimately nothing by the lenders, and at most a small waiver fee. Accounting restatements happen all the time, as do tax investigations. There are numerous companies where criminal charges have been filed and lenders don't accelerate or foreclose. Think it through to its conclusion -- the lenders accelerate and foreclose on the underlying collateral. Great, now banks own some Trump property which is at its valuation nadir, and banks/lenders aren't in the business of owning assets (especially guys like DB or Ladder Capital). So they'll go to Trump and ask for some VERY nominal waiver fee. But these guys exist to make and collect interest, not own illiquid real estate assets. This is why clueless people shouldn't try to read credit agreements.

July 2, 20214 yr I can forsee a cash flow problem, which explains Trump campaign's endless political fundraising, even though he lost the election and holds no official government position (besides former President). How many more old people's retirements can he rip off? Could be leading to another one of Trump's famous bankruptcies. @vikas83 is right, lenders don't want to hold property, they want to collect interest payments on the loans. Lenders will make some arrangement. Trump org is far from dead. The Twitter thread reads like fan fiction.

When he defaulted in the past, it was the entity which owned his casinos. They defaulted on bonds because they could no longer sustain the interest payments. Each time, the company voluntarily sought bankruptcy protection to reorganize its balance sheet because of cash flow problems.
July 2, 20214 yr Fraud, Larceny, False Pretenses, conspiracy, They under reported income, lied to accountants, and failed to disclose income and falsified and manufactured fraudulent documents. They have Wisselberg and Trump Org. by the balls.
July 2, 20214 yr I'm old enough to remember when trumpbots claimed they were eager to vote for him because he was a super smart businessman and they hoped he'd run the country like one of his companies.
