Republican Who Lost by 3 Votes Challenges Democrat Daughter's Ballot

A New Jersey Republican committeeman who lost his reelection bid is now suing to throw out his daughter's ballot after he discovered she voted for his opponent.

On Friday, New Jersey's Observer-Tribune reported that the Morris County Republican Party would be filing a lawsuit contesting the results of a November 8 election in which one of Mendham Township's Republican committeemen, Tom Baio, lost his reelection bid by just three votes to his Democratic challenger, Lauren Spirig, in the GOP-dominant suburb 30 miles from New York City.

They claim approximately 29 Spirig voters in the election—all young Democrats—improperly voted by mail from their residences outside of the state, including the local Democratic Party chairwoman's daughter, a recent college graduate who is currently a Tennessee resident.

What local GOP officials did not initially mention, however, was that one of the ballots cast belonged to Baio's daughter, New York City journalist Ariana Baio, whose ballot Baio himself had mailed to her earlier this year.

What's hilarious is that apparently Baio was cool with his daughter potentially voting illegally from Tennessee when he assumed she'd be voting for him.

This isn't run of the mill "every politician does it" stuff.

Both Citigroup and Goldman Sachs denied he worked for them as he claimed.

He claimed to run an "animal rescue" non-profit - apparently he ran off with the funds.

He was convicted in Brazil for fraud, and this "wealthy" guy was evicted twice in the last 7 years.

He also claimed he lost four employees in the pulse nightclub shooting, which appears to also be a lie.

Crazy that the party of Trump would elect this guy, eh?

So if he wins that challenge, only 2 more to go?

Who is this guy Santos? Nothing in his background holds up, except he says he worked at some investment firm owned by his family that was dissolved for failing to file annual reports. Was it fraudulent? Where is the Republican party finding these people?

And why did opposition research wait for Santos to win an election before looking into his background? He already ran for the seat and lost in 2020. 2 years had past since the last election. Voters should know about this stuff as they vote for a candidate.

apparently there was a 87 page opposition research document. this guy had run before, all this should have been known.

most of the opposition research was "here's all the times he supported Trump" and "here's what he said about abortion"

the look into finances was limited to "looks sus" ....

(I'm getting this from the Bulwark podcast, btw.)
