Let's not cloud this. Parker is going to be a number 4 receiver here. Should be mainly a 3rd down and red zone specialist. And serve as a good vet and fill-in/insurance if someone gets hurt. At the minimum vet price he's a no brainer. Also a long big target for Hurts in tight spots.  Like to see if he can carve out a Jason Avant type role. And get clutch on us. Had no faith in any receivers not named Brown or Smith the last couple years. This a very nice addition. We haven't signed or drafted our number 3 WR yet.

Isn't Parker like a non-guaranteed $1 million with NE picking up the rest of the tab? Just seems like a kicking the tires type signing.

Wasn't clear to me whether we guaranteed the 1million part or not

Looks like it may be guaranteed. Not much. What's that vet min?

Parker was one of the absolute worst WR's in the league the past few years, some categories he was actually even dead last. Complete and absolute waste of time going down this road. Maybe Howie had too many Irish car bombs before that signing.

I think it's a reasonable goal to climb to average this season.  They had some extracurricular stuff going on with the team last year, whatever it may have been.

They can't just easily fall into average though...they have to climb to that and it will take some work.  But it's reasonable to hope that Carter's improvement more than offsets the loss of Cox.  I don't know how much Davis is going to do for them beyond eat some snaps and stop the run.  That's probably just going to be who he is.  The edge rotation should be deeper and more disruptive this year.  Safety play should be better with CJGJ stabilizing some sort of Blankenship/Brown platoon.

Morrow, Cunningham, Byard were really just replacement level guys.  The real loss will probably be the further decline in Slay's play.  We figure to get very, very bad CB play next year.

Throw that all together and we may get an average defense out of it.  The question is where we go from there.  Fangio is sort of a specialist at cranking out average defenses.  Right now, that's going to be great for us.

Fangio has put top 10 defenses at each of his last three stops before Miami, and if he had a couple more years there, he'd probably do the same.

Obviously, it was easier in SF, but he did it in Chicago and Denver with dysfunctional GMs.

No guarantee he makes the team.

He's not being asked to be a 1/2 receiver at this point. He may not make the team, but prolly will. They don't really have anybody better right now. You can't really spend any more at that position  with D. Smith about to break the bank. I think peeps want an all pro at every position here. Barely can keep Goedert, Brown & Smith happy with sharing the ball. And now add Barkley. Not too worried here. I mean, sure, would like to add some depth here but they won't be spending much. Another min vet and a draft pick will fill this out. To nitpick at this is foolish.

He's going to be Julio Jones 2.0.  I suppose that's what they are looking for.

He's not going to contribute on ST.  He's not going to get open.  He's here to be a stationary target that catches the football when someone forgets to cover him.

Yes they had to offer vet min and that's all they offered but it might have been guaranteed which I don't understand the need for

I don't think he's good but if the list I saw was accurate than there are some good WRs in that worst separation list so I might take that with a grain of salt

I wouldn't be opposed to them going with a 1st or 2nd day pick WR for the slot. Ladd or Pretty Ricky. If they dont want to invest such a high pick there are other options. May have to trade back into the 3rd though.

Is he worse than Quez The Elite? 😆

Safeties aren't exactly big anymore. Used to have the bigger box safeties but these archetypes get exposed now.

The post to which I originally responded referred to Brown as "diminutive” and denigrated his size. @greendestiny27 seems to disagree with you and I with him.

Quez was super fast and sucked and was clueless on the field. Gimme this savvy vet. Patriots literally just gave this guy a 3 yr/$33M extension 8 months ago. We are getting him for $1.2M. He will be useful and a different skillset here with good hands, precise route running, and wide catch radius.

It's not like Parker's taking a good player's job or anything.  Everyone outside of Brown and Smith sucked.  Covey had the excuse of being a core special teamer.

I don't want to see Quez on this team.  Bad things happen when Quez is in the play

I was agreeing with you.

Very likely could be. With KJ you get a guy that's very good in the slot and younger. Just makes much more sense to me than a guy who struggles to get separation and is more suited for the outside.

Yes, everyone is against me. At least I'm not crushing unlit cigars in anyone's faces for it.

A lot of beat writers have said it’s not guaranteed for the Eagles. Maybe it’s a situation where the total amount is guaranteed by NE but as long as he makes the team the Eagles have to pay vet min. Maybe if he gets cut the burden goes back to the Patriots.

I really liked him but he’s probably done at this point

Quez is drawing interest from Miami, FWIW

Brings back a memory/funny thing Bill Parcells said about Roy Williams…”biscuit short of being a linebacker”. I think Williams playing weight was 235 or more…safeties have definitely gotten smaller, but so have linebackers.

A few different reasons but the 4 and 5 receiver sets and pass happy offenses off the last two decades are the primary reasons.

Gone are the days of Steve Atwater and Ronnie Lott having to tackle Christian Okoye, Bettis, or the like…is D Henry the biggest back in the league now?

It's one reason I'd like the 3rd TE to be a H-back type with FB experience, teams don't know how to defend the I formation anymore.
