  • For those that know me here I wanted to pass on the good news. I will be retiring from fulltime work in October of this year. Looking forward to not working 10 hour days anymore.

Smith. They do a better job drafting O line replacements than finding an actual great WR.

Having said that, Howie will extend both.  Dickerson and Mailata will retire Eagles.

I probably worded that badly. I didn’t necessarily mean one stays and one goes. More so you can only lock one guy in early and you have to make the other guy wait a year or so.

Dickerson would make sense to lock up first, IMO, because he only has a year left where as Smith has one + a 5th year option. But that could piss off Smith.

If you lock up Smith first, you might be able to get him slightly cheaper but then you are allocating a ton of resources into one position, and could possibly create a weird dynamic if he gets more than Brown. And then you have to risk Dickerson testing FA.

I wonder if he brings Arthur Smith with him for OC.

Would not be surprising. I also think there is a shot where he doesn’t end up as a HC and is BB’s defensive coordinator

It's ok.  I'm mad at them still for getting rid of the Carrot and Raisin salad.   :nonono: Inexcusable.

If you were Howie and could only extend one this offseason, would it be Smith or Dickerson?

Smith

This guy isn’t a news breaker or anything, but he’s a decent follow on Twitter.

Everyone knew that there would be massive changes.  The question that existed and still does is how many changes there would be.

Would love these guys to come fish with me in Mexico.  Hell, it would be my treat for the gift of the 2017 Lombardi.  Bring T Cole along as well!

Disappointing that he likely gets to stay, if they don't win a super bowl next year I think he gets fired as we'll be doing this exact same thing all over again when the coordinators are poached. It's not worth the headache unless they find coordinators with no interest in becoming a HC (like Andy had with Jim Johnson).

That would be what I figured all along, but the more interesting question is the DC another young guy like Gannon and Desai, or an older more established coordinator?

They can’t really make a move at OC until BJ’s interviews have resolved; I mean, they could fire him if they wanted but that would be a really crummy look.  He might be back almost by default if he isn’t hired away

Oh, you’ve got THAT kind of money, huh?

Pretty confident the Eagles won't put out a statement, but the insiders will definitely report on it. They have to, they put out the initial report of the meeting, they'll have to do the follow up report.

They aren't going to chance losing out on those comp picks

I agree there will be no formal statement if he stays, but somewhat surprised it hasn’t leaked by 8pm EST.

Lol.  Just the fishing.  I'm not chartering a PJ or putting them up at 4 Seasons.

What makes you think this is not Brian Johnson's offense? I don't remember this extreme overuse of failed WR screens or the allergies to using the middle of the field, if this were sirianni's would we not have seen that last year?

It wasn't Brian Johnson's offense in 2022 when he was the QB coach. Siri brought in Shane,  and the offense was installed,  2021,  apparently Shane took more control mid 2021.   But it wasn't Brian Johnson's offense.  It was Siri and Shanes.   And there wasn't a lot of new stuff this year. New players didn't play.  It was remove most plays and just throw to Brown Smith Goedert.    No changes, shrinking the playbook,  Hurts and BJ not liking what Siri is doing.  That's what it was.

Put Brian Johnson 100% in control of the offense.  Find out if that's something that Jalen wants.   Get feedback from players maybe.   If you're looking at a "problem" that needs to be solved,  the simple solution of putting BJ in charge of the offense completely,  able to completely replace anything.  Listen to Brian closely on players.   I'm going to look at Brian Johnson as a franchise head coach of the future.  Maybe he doesn't get there, but treating him as someone who might care who the players are in 5 years, not just today, seems like a reasonable way to go.

I really like a lot of what Brian Johnson has on his resume,  I like a lot of players he coached,  who could be on the Eagles in camp,  doing innovative stuff.

2017 Houston Cougars.  Johnson's first year as Offensive Coordinator.   D'eriq King starts the season as a Wide Receiver.  Has 5 games there.   29 catches 264 yards.  Then moved to Quarterback.   Has 5 games there.  154.6 passer rating, 1260 passing yards,  379 rushing yards.   Brian Johnson did that.  Have a guy move from WR to QB.  Innovation.   Do more of that.   Brian Johnson's offense, which contains more of that. Problem solved.

We know the changes needed. Hell my kid could tell they were inept

this comes down to who they can get

Recent reports are that not only is the meeting with Sirianni still going but he may have won a power struggle we weren't aware of and not only will Howie Roseman be fired but Sirianni will become the new GM as well as HC.

Agreed.  But, first they need to fire people... and we don't know the full list yet.  We all have our opinions on who should and a shorter list of who shouldn't... but we continue to wait for a morsel of information.

I can't see him as a DC this year.
