We trade up for DTs to get 2-3 sacks and rotate.

Yeah again, overall we had less rotation than the 4 conference championship teams last year, rotation is the norm, it was our norm in 2022 when we made the Superbowl. Carter likely has to up his workload this year (it should be noted he played more snaps this year, than Cox did his rookie year) but we do need to bring in at least one more guy for the DT rotation.

Davis was always a more effective run stuffer than pass rusher, that was clear in college, he was never going to turn into Aaron Donald.

  • For those that know me here I wanted to pass on the good news. I will be retiring from fulltime work in October of this year. Looking forward to not working 10 hour days anymore.

And 500 yards from a TE doesn't seem so bad compared to the return we get from our relentless assault on DTs in the first round for them to not be Aaron Donald, not give us a good pass rush, and barely even give us a good run defense.

He’s got us trading a 2 and a 2025 3 to move up six sports for Arnold. No way Howie is that dumb.

Also has Mitchell falling to 23 and Texas WR Worthy to the Jags?

Yea dont see much of that mock playing out. Everyone just wants to be different.

What are the chances we see a current stud player (from any team) get traded tonight?

Surtain?

Micah Parsons or CD Lamb?

Jefferson?

It may not be any of these, but I wouldn’t be surprised if a major current player is dealt tonight

Only 6 spots?  50 or 53 alone should be enough to do that…and I wouldn’t want to for a DB.  I’d break your new remote if they did what PS suggests.  I like Schrager…just think (and hope) he’s wrong here

In this scenario Mitchell goes 23!!!

It's pretty simple: If Worthy/QBs go in the top 15, we don't need to trade up.

I better buy two remotes today just in case.

@mikemack8 This is odd.  After "Kirk Cousins is the next Drew Brees", I was told Daniel Jones was the next big thing

Is his agent less than 10 years old? This reads like a kid who wants a cookie before dinner

Penix is a bad fit for the Giants.  What concerns me most about him is he holds the ball and wants to makes the downfield throw too often.  Behind a bad offensive line that is a recipe for disaster.

So... we are in agreement we all want this to happen?

someone on reddit graphed this based on PFF data.

More stats that someone asked about.

Renardo green: 56.3 Man, 77.8 zone

Jarvis: 115.8 man, 90.9 zone

Andru: 131.8 man, 86 zone

And if theres a CB who is ranked pretty highly but has been underdiscussed that I would actually be happy with if he was our earliest CB pick, thatd be DJ James.

Good article, reminder of how good he is.

Elijah Jones qualifies as well. James is a year younger though.

He predicts the Lions moving up 7 spots and only giving up a 3rd round pick while we give up a 2nd to move up 6 spots?

Trevor Sikemma on XM NFL radio. Says he thinks there are about 20 consensus 1st round picks this year (better than last year). But says likely only 5 defensive players: Murphy, Turner, Verse, Mitchell and Arnold.

They interviewed Terrion Arnold on GMFB today. The kid seems like a really solid dude, personality wise - clearly what happens on field matters, but he doesn't give Cam Newton "look at me" vibes. Can see why teams love him.

ESPN has us trading to Seattle for Mitchell. Swap our 2nd for their 3rd.

That's best realistic case scenario IMO

@HazletonEagle In case you have other plans or are busy tonight, would you like everyone in the blog to hold off on posting any feelings or results from round 1 until you’re available?

Yes, that would be reasonable. I like it.

It's funny I feel like Mitchell was pretty much universally listed as CB1 in this draft...until this past week or so. Now Arnold is #1 in about 50% of mocks I've seen. Nature of the process I guess.

Has anyone seen a mock they actually like? These are all so bad.
