I saw a handful of catches.

The two against the sideline were exceptional throws and catches.  Coverage wasn't the issue.

Better teammate than Bo Callahan.

Love Mike Vick and how he resurrected his career and life with the Eagles but this is too funny.

Here we are reminiscing about using our magazine draft guides, meanwhile we're probably closer to teleportation than we think. This tech is wild. Caleb better work on his Da Bears though.

Best teammate in 30 years.

Going back to the trade down, never up theme.

Panthers got Bryce Young - First overall.

Bears got D.J. Moore, Darnell Moore, Tyrique Stevenson, Caleb Williams - first overall, a second rounder yet to come in 2024 and a second rounder in 2025.

Houston got Will Anderson, third overall, and, if I can trace the deal correctly through myriad other trades, they got our 2024 3rd rounder. We got Ringo.

Arizona got Paris Johnson, B.J Ojulari, Michael Wilson, Darius Robinson, and a third rounder yet to come in 2024, not to be confused with our 3rd rounder.

I'd say the teams that traded down did really well.

One of the worst parts of that movie is the asshat coach they made Sam Elliott.

That's a good analysis. What is the likelihood, however, that a team that wants Ringo in a trade would pass on DeJean? I just don't think he would be an asset for that kind of trade.  It's possible they could trade Bradberry but I would think it would be more like a throw in rather than a real asset to make the deal.

DeJean and Ringo are radically different players, so I don’t think a team that wanted Ringo would necessarily have any interest in DeJean.

DeJean is a safety/nickel hybrid. Ringo is a boundary corner who might be able to play safety if he doesn’t develop on the outside.

It’s all moot because we aren’t going to trade Ringo one year after we traded for him and put in the time to develop the raw, young but immensely talented Ringo.

Ringo is a long term project to get a chance at a high end starting boundary corner for only a third round pick. DeJean would be an impact nickel corner who’s versatility would allow the Eagles to matchup with 11 and 12 personnel interchangeably without substitutions.

If we want DeJean, we are trading draft picks for him and calling our secondary complete for the foreseeable future. Long term, Mitchell, Ringo and Rodgers would be the corners while DeJean, Blankenship and Brown are the safeties.

I am really happy with the cohesion in the Eagles approach going back to 2021.

It's pretty clear that the attempts to "keep the window open" in 2019 and 2020 were failures.  It's also apparent that Howie learned from those mistakes.  They are not jumping at immediate needs anymore, but rather following a simple set of rules - focus on the trenches, don't reach during the draft, and keep young talent in the building.

The jealousy/admiration for the Eagles and Howie around the NFL is not a bit.  The Eagles are a very well run franchise.

Dang, you suck.

I wonder, are there any starting or high caliber role players with 1 or 2 years left on their rookie years available we could get with one of our picks in the 170’s?

Back to the Michael Mayer situation in Las Vegas. Do they need a vet CB? Could the Eagles possibly fleece the Raiders with Bradberry and a late round pick for Mayer?

Raiders have no reason to trade Mayer.  There are lots of 2 TE sets, and now they have 2 pretty good TEs there.

It doesn't always work out, but if you believe in a player enough, you should go up and get him.

Successful trade up examples off the top of my head: Josh Allen (Bills moved up in the 1st to get him), Lamar Jackson (Ravens traded moved up in a trade with US to get him!)

We traded up to get DeVonta and that worked out OK?  (Sadly, the pick we traded turned into Micah Parsons....so...)

I love that team so F'n much  Well except Castellanos

Would not hate if Eagles doubled up at corner. Not saying it would be my #1 preference, depends who's available. But I like Sainristil. He's older, but he's a stud at nickel. Max Melton wouldn't be a bad pick either. The Eagles don't really have a long term nickel corner on the roster. Don't think Ringo fits the profile for one either.

Any chance Howie goes LB'er with one of these 2nd round picks or will it be OL and DL? Thoughts?

I think if Edgerrin Cooper is there we take him. Maybe Payton Wilson depending on what we think of the ACL situation.

Could be where the Rakestraw interest comes in to play.

And (hopefully not) Andru Phillips.

Bullard would be an excellent pick. 4.4 speed. Solid build for safety/big nickel hybrid role. Plenty of man coverage experience. His film study and preparation is otherworldly. Theres no way he isnt successful in the league with his smarts and work.

Rodgers can play in the nickel.

The only corner that would make sense to me given our roster would be DeJean, and it’s precisely because he’s less of a corner than a nickel/safety hybrid and not really a pure corner. He would let you get your 5 best DBs on the field.

Just want to add that Ringo is only 21 years old. Now. After a year with the Eagles. I loved that pick. He's not Jordan Mailata, hell, he may only be half of Jordan Mailata, but he's a project with a huge upside on a team that knows the value of patience.

The idea that there's a 'never' preference is to mistake the fact that each trade is unique.

Eagles traded back in 2014.

Cleveland traded up to pick 22 - Johnny Football.

Eagles got pick 26 and 83...
Eagles traded 83 back to get 101 and 141.

Eagles came away with: Marcus Smith, Jaylen Watkins, Taylor Hart.

I'd say no one 'won' that trade.  Incidentally, #83 was Louis Nix, who also bounced around the league never having played in a game.  Short, sad story post-NFL career.  He was shot in 2020, and survived.  But was found in his car, in a pond in 2021.  M.E. said that his death was by drowning, with alcohol in his system.

Moral of the story:  Trading up can pay off if you have the right target in mind to acquire.  Equally, trading down can pay off if you can leverage those extra picks into something.  But, ultimately, it all comes down to your evaluations, both in trading up and trading down.  Good teams make good evaluations and 'win' these trades, whether they are trading up or down.  And the opposite is true for bad teams.  They are going to 'lose' these trades whether they are trading up.   In the previous example, the Browns traded up, and 'lost'.  The Eagles traded back, and also 'lost'.

The Browns could have had Teddy Bridgewater or Derek Carr without making the trade, both of whom fared much better in the NFL than Manziel.
The Eagles could have had Dee Ford had they stayed put.  But, even in the trade down scenario, they could have had Demarcus Lawrence or Trent Murphy... both of whom had far better careers than the combination of players the Eagles ended up with.

Back then, both teams had bad draft processes... and both screwed up.  It had nothing to do with their trade... and everything to do with their evaluation processes.  They just failed to identify the talent that was available to them.
