Deferred the Lane replacement strategy until next draft (trade up required).

Or we consider the possibility that drafting a replacement OT for him wasn't in the cards this year.

Lane could be here another 2 or 3 seasons for all we know.

  • For those that know me here I wanted to pass on the good news. I will be retiring from fulltime work in October of this year. Looking forward to not working 10 hour days anymore.

yes they did, and then they basically said - this draft is over, lets get ammo for next year.  I'm not wrong.  Took a huge Project in the 3rd rd, and a meh rb in the 4th.

meanwhile. Ol/DL  are thin  and LB's are weak at best. I guarantee a team, some team,  will find a LB in the 4th that will out produce what we have on our roster.  it is what it is.

Yes, because the draft WAS over for all intents and purposes.

Even NFLN announcers conceded that there were about 50 good players and after that they were all basically the same.

Let's go for the trifecta. Drake Stoops in the 5th.

Sure - and we might be doing the same draft pick roll over next year.

Will Shipley was a very nice pick.  I was a bit bummed they traded out and Wright got taken with the pick, but Shipley and a 2025 3rd round pick was the proper way to go.

I think Shipley is a better prospect than Gainwell was (and I liked Gainwell).  Shipley can add a lot of versatility

Thats not my point. My point is these guys who are professionals are basically saying there wasn't anyone, and I am saying these other teams will still find some players who will, and could have helped our team. I dont get paid to eval talent, they do.  Apparanetly our LB's are good enough.  HAHAHAHAHA

It is your point though. You literally mentioned "impact players this year". So clearly you think there were some in round 4. So who were they?  Or are you just whining?

Shipley is more dynamic than Gainwell across the board.

If we get "Mahogany" it will all even out

He played both at Utah

Kind of. He was more S and filled in to help at RB. He said in interviews at the combine he wants to play defense and S in particular.

He's not beating anyone out.........this year.

I don't know, maybe he could develop into a good pass rusher in a year or 2.  If you're taking players this late in the draft that's what they are anyway most of the time, developmental players.

All those guys except Sweat and Huff are unproven.  Sweat is good but nothing special and Huff has had 1 good year.

Yes, but now do you try to get him on the PS, or do you have to use a 53 slot to keep him. You've got 5 edge rushers, 6-7 DL, 4 ILB, 9-10 DB.

Didn't see this until now. @ManuManu this is your boy?

There is one LB off the board that I had as a target for Rd 5

Agreed. I’m way more excited about Shipley than I ever was, or am, about Gainwell.

Shipley is kind of a fun pick.  Could be a nice rotational 3rd down back.

A lot can change between now and then, but we just don't know.   Lane and the front office are the only ones who do.

Personally, I have a very hard time believing that Howie would get sniped for a OL that he truly, geniunely wanted and had his sights set on.  He's just way too aggressive for that.  Did he want that Amegadjie guy from Yale, or Zinter?  Probably, yeah, but I don't think he was panicked when they went.   I think he had an acceptable alternative to pivot to if they didn't work out.

I'm not a big Hunt fan and there's a 95% chance he busts, but to totally punt on this part of the draft and end up with a DE that has some talent and a fun-to-watch possible 3rd down back isn't so bad.

4th rounders become starters about 15% of the time.

And this is a weak draft, so likely lower than that.

And we DID trade up in the 2nd round to get a blue chip player.

Stop using logic.  It's better to complain

Damn. Magee is Washington

Howie may not be able to help himself with Spencer Rattler.
