Lotta guys look bad against Miles Garrett. Becton has been snake-bit with injuries. Played last year on one leg. However, if he is truly healthy he’s a monster. And if Stoutland wants him AND we’re paying him $5.5M, it looks like Stout thinks he can be brought all the way back. I’m over the moon about this.

Up to 5.5. Sometimes the up to does a lot of work

  • For those that know me here I wanted to pass on the good news. I will be retiring from fulltime work in October of this year. Looking forward to not working 10 hour days anymore.

Potential long term Lane Johnson replacement?

now, does he just play RG and eventually kick out to replace Lane? Too tall for RG I guess, right?

"Up to"... I'm guessing there's a bunch of incentives about playing time.

I always viewed him as LT or bust type. After his injury I wonder how much of a dancing bear he can still be though.

Way too soon to go there.   Is he healthy?  And will he resign here if he is if Johnson doesn't retire after 2024?

This is a flyer, not a long term solution as I see it.

Jackson broke the mold for eagles rookies. After his rookie year he was a situational punt returner after his value was displayed. Sure his miracle at the meadow lands play is in everyone’s mind but lined up deep for maybe 10% of punts the eagles forced during his career here. Maybe.

Coaches need to read each player and realize they all develop differently.

Punt returns helped Desean get into the flow of the NFL while he was learning to be a WR.  I think they reinforced his swagger.  They backed off PR’s once he established himself at the position.  Maclin needed to get pulled off, as did Reagor.  One ended up being a very good WR, while the other was a bust, but it was still a weight around both of them.

In general, I’d rather not see a young player that we are projecting as a starter getting thrown out there on PRs.

If the Becton signing was in the works before or during the draft it explains a lot about the Eagles strategy. All my ****ing and moaning about lack of depth at tackle was just noise and stupidity.

Nah.  Becton isn't a sure thing.  Warmack wasn't either when he came here.   We can hope for the best though.

I still think Howie wanted an OT in the draft. I would have loved Fautanu or Rosengarten. But Howie didn't have to reach because he knew he could get Becton. It worked out!

"Potential.”

No, not too soon to go there. We just signed the guy. Obviously we are projecting his health, but IF healthy, what’s his ceiling?

Players that come to the Eagles usually don’t want to leave.

True. As I said, I’m over the moon. Light-headed. Having palpitations.🤯

Nice swing tackle, if he survives camp - gotta keep him away from the meadowlands turf.

Unless they are used to playing and want to get starting OT money... and they are stuck behind Johnson/Mailata.   I think this is a one year stopover, either way.  If he's healthy, he's going to want to go and be a starter.  If not, he's no good to us anyway.

This is how you know how spoiled we are as fans. This is an issue for virtually every single team in the league

I’d argue even if healthy roughly half the teams o-line put them in a real bind

Spoiler alert: we aren’t paying $5.5m.

That news has been planted by his agents and contains the key words "up to”

Yeah.... I'm in the protect our unicorn at all costs camp. Great talent doesn't need to be risking his career doing returns. See Jason Sehorn.

But there is a limit on vets. 2 or 3 IIRC plus four with no more than two accrued seasons.

Eagles have yet to designate an International Program Player.  Every team gets an IPP slot on the PS this year.   Praise Olatoke may be that signing.  Very fast, (4.36)  practically no football experience.  Good size at 205 6’2”.  He is Mailata level green.  Never played HS or College ball.  One season of club level football.

They changed the rules. You can have 6 players that don’t matter how much experience they have.

Yeah - Covey being good and expendable was nice, he’ll have plenty of competition from the rookie WR and RB.

There’s no reason to be down on the Becton signing. With that said, expectations should be kept in check. 25 year old LT’s that went 11th overall a few years ago that sign after the draft are for a reason. He’s a decent depth $1 scratch off.

I think the wording "plans to sign” is also significant. Let’s see how the physical goes.

If Stout can't get this kid to live up to his potential then no one on the planet can.

Wishful thinking but we could luck into Lane's replacement if this kid works out.

I think so. We have guards galore anyway.  We need a third tackle.

Howie Szn in full swing.

None of those guy visited and the 2 WRs they did draft actually did.  I think people are projecting their own guys as guys Howie wanted.  I do think they wanted Fautanu in rd 1 but other tan that they definitely wanted DeJean and Hunt and they didn't seem to care enough about anyone else.  I'm sure there are different guys they'd have taken if they fell at certain spots but they didn't seem to really care

Yep, I loved Wilson and McCormick but there is no evidence that Eagles were in love with them.

I think they were in on Kiran Amegdajie and Zac Zinter. The trade downs happened straight after those picks - both visited. But like you saw I don’t think they loved them and probably were in the same grouping as Hunt and valued the extra picks and still get to g one of those guys more.

I can see Wingo being one as they traded right in front of us to grab him.
