Wait. I thought we were a home field DISadvantage and the players hate us and want to play anywhere but Philly? I'm so confused.

We know.  It's what you like most about you.

Bradberry was put on notice the instant they drafted Quinyon Mitchell.

Ringo isn't going anywhere.  He played well on special teams and didn't look bad at all when they gave him snaps.

Wouldn't be surprised if they ultimately went with Slay/Mitchell/Rodgers/Ringo/Ricks/Jobe.  Go CJGJ/Blankenship/DeJean/Brown at safety and then use DeJean and CJ as backup slot options behind Rodgers.  Maybe they go really deep at corner and try to sneak Tyler Hall in too.

He should have been put on notice at the end of year interview.

He watched one highlight of him picking off an FCS QB and now he thinks he's Brian Urlacher.

We've been trying to get UrlacherzzzZ!1!Z for 3 decades!!

OT, Dan Sileo is the only media guy I think who's ever actually pissed me off. Like this man is so obnoxious and so dumb, that my rationality goes out the window

Have you ever seen/heard/read this guy?

With hin and Ward gone its the last of those heros of the 2019 season that were left.

Oh wow, Sixers immediately blow a 9 point lead while Embiod is on the bench.  What a shocker.  Team is completely useless when he isn't in the game.

how many of those people we were looking at there are on this board?  How many post here?

The true identity of @TEW revealed. Biggest plot twist since The Sixth Sense.

Jalyx has a 10% shot at being a Pro Bowler, a 15% shot of being a ST player only and a 75% shot of being a complete bust and not lasting to the end of his second season.

That's his profile. We can disagree with the ratios, but it's a boom/bust pick. The most likely scenario is we spend a top 50 pick next year on a fantastic EDGE class.

I'd give him 50/50.

But, there's only a 10% chance of that.

Sixers never had a chance.  Embiid has to go.

hmm.... nothing in there about being thankful for the opportunity to play with a franchise QB like Hurts. Interesting.

So how do you think his skill set projects to Fangio’s scheme? Fangio doesn’t blitz much and drops players into coverage a lot.

I mean, I don’t think even if he unlocks his potential he will ever be a pro bowler.

Assuming he develops as well as coaches could reasonably hope, he isn’t going to be a double digit sack guy. His stat line will be something like 6-8 sacks, 1-3 INTs, and a bunch of tackles. But he’ll have a really good pass coverage rating.

You are aware 3-4 olbs rush a ton right?

In a vacuum, I agree.

However, given the lack of talent and depth we have at LB, I think there is a path for Hunt to see the field this season.

He projects as a good special teamer, which should help get him on the activist list for games. From there, an injury or poor play by our mediocre vets is all it will take for an opportunity to emerge. I wouldn’t count on it of course, but he may surprise some people.

the Eagles could go into the regular season with the ILBs remaining from last year,  Dean and VanSumeren and be good.  There are a lot more in addition to them.

If you look at where the Eagles were last year at this time,  it was Dean and Morrow,  as well as Elliss.    There are like 5 ILBs right now,  6 maybe.   It's possible that Jalyx Hunt is playing all over the field.  I don't know.   I like the idea of a lot of players playing all over the field.

I'm curious about why a DE who runs a 4.64 40 is the particular player who is going to be playing Safety,  when the Eagles have multiple players with serious big time speed -  Nolan Smith - 4.39 40 at 238.  VanSumeren - 4.45 at 231.   Jalyx Hunt has long arms,  34.375, which I think would be good for line battles and run defense at the edge.    But I'm very much into the idea of the de's and the olb's and the ilbs all blending together,  all capable of doing anything,  all capable of switching positions.  Maybe even there's a Safety spot that could be incorporated into this group of pretty heavy, very fast, interchangeable group.

Pretty much all of the de through ilb group could be capable of doing this.

I think what's happening with Jalyx Hunt is - Graham's future replacement.  He's a little smaller, and has the ability to cover.

To be fair .. Tobias and everyone but Maxey needs to go

Once again, look at Van Ginkel:

6 sacks, 1 INT, 8 PDs, 69 tackles. Played MLB to start the season, known more for his coverage ability than pass rushing.

That’s the type of player they’re looking to replicate.

Well, that makes at least two of us on the island.

Here's what I'm thinking. If you are interested, @austinfan posted links about Fangio's defense a few pages back. Eminently worth the time and effort to read. Fangio runs a ton of fronts and coverages, including your basic 4-3-4, a 4-2-5, a 2-4-5, a 4-1-6, and a number of other variations. There are a few basic themes: two high safeties, and disguised coverages that change AFTER the snap. To do that, you need versatile defenders and Hunt is the most versatile of them all. I see him lining up BEFORE the snap as EITHER a SS OR a SAM but AFTER the snap he may stay at either position but, if it's SS, he may drop down into the middle zone - what's called a "robber", or rotate down on the TE while the LB or other safety on that side does something else, or key on the RB, or, especially in a defense without the MIKE, move up to shut off shallow crossing patterns.

Think of him as running the three sides of a triangle with the vertices being the SAM, short middle (SM in my hopeless diagram below at varying depths), and deep middle - SS. Where he starts is not where he'll end up.

                                                                        SS

                                                                                              SAM

                                                  SM

This may all be nonsense, of course, but it's what I'm thinking.

Actually, I think Smith is the one who'll be used like this, we forget he's a tremendous athlete with a high IQ.

I suspect he's been in the weight room, get up to 240-245 and move like a safety, that's the guy you move all around b/c he has the speed to get to where you want him post snap.

Hunt is more likely to be limited to SLB/rush end, dropping into coverage or rushing from a SAM spot, he's got good but not great speed and will probably lose a step as he bulks up to 260 or so the next couple years. That agility at SAM will make him a good matchup over TEs, but I don't think he's got the speed and burst to play deep and come up.

I feel like this season is going to be a deep playoff run or total ish show. 13-14 wins or 5-6 wins riddled with injuries….

I’m going to also predict that if there’s anything remotely similar to what happened in the last 2 months of last season that Siri will be out the door. Feel like his job may be on the line anything short of making the NFC championship game

Smith has the speed numbers of a WR, so he certainly has the movement ability of a safety…but that doesn’t mean he has any clue in coverage.  Not saying he does or doesn’t, just that I haven’t seen him do it.  Some of the value to Hunt, regardless of numbers, should be that he has more comfort and fluidity in coverage as that is a skill set he has utilized coming up as a DB.

I hate this sixers team this Yr

Maxey can’t hit a FT to save his life now

I get the same feeling. I'm leaning far more toward a deep postseason given the revamp in coaching and hopefully a leash around Sirianni's neck.

If it's yet another F up, goodbye Nick and good riddance. Either way, he needs to cut out all his antics this year. Don't want to see anymore childish crap from him.

So Fing grateful to have the Phillies and Eagles when I see the Sixers "hustle" (yet again).

Don't know where they go from here. Daryl better wave a bit Fing wand in the offseason.
