Next is firing the QB and WR coaches. Hire a strong OC who isn't Frank Reich or JBC. Maybe there is a chance....

3 simple options to break it down with Hurts.

A.  Hurts plays like 2022.  Everyone is thrilled.  Discussion over.

B. Hurts plays like 2023.  There is some debate over what coaching he needs, the time he needs, if he can get back on the right track.  But we all know where this is headed.  They need out of that contract as soon as it permits.  Welcome to purgatory.

C.  Hurts is better than 2023, worse than 2022.  Same can be said for the Eagles as a whole.  Another year goes by and everyone hopes 2025 is another incremental improvement.  The contract gets played out as we debate if Hurts is good enough.  Or is this the purgatory?

There were plenty of times over the season when the camera did pan to Hurts just staring out onto the field and not looking at the tablet or talking to someone. I'm not saying he's a bad leader but just saying that it did happen

That definitely happened. No one has denied that.

My argument is that's not the ONLY reaction. He was also shown engaging with coaches & teammates, smiling, hyping guys up, showing emotion as well.

But some fans will refuse to acknowledge that and only run with narratives that fit their bias.

Starting the offseason perfectly

This is good news on both fronts; I didn't really get the appeal of Cooter.  Apparently Shane Waldron is being hired by the Bears, so that takes one good candidate off the board.

I would assume (or hope) the Eagles will be interviewing some established OC candidates like Kellen Moore, Bieniemy, Pete Carmichael, Reich .... as well as a couple of younger guys.

Thinking Hurts is a cap casualty is hilarious. Howie got a 1st for Wentz. He's not cutting Jalen.

Is hilarious not because he couldn’t get draft capital for him but is literally impossible to cut him as a "cap casualty". Cap casualties are people that you want to keep but can’t because you’re up against the cap and it saves you money to jettison them.

Everybody’s fault but Nick’s. Fire everyone but him!

Bye bye QB1 butt buddy

Hurts' contract dictates he is a centerpiece, and you build the roster around that player in order for him to succeed.  For roster construction purposes related to the cap, that might mean a solid offense and a budget defense for awhile.

When was the last time a head coach stuck around after firing the OC and DC in the same year?

The coaching was atrocious across the board last year. Fire them too. Then when it's just a complete mess, fire Sirianni anyway like you should have done last week

These are pretty normal things in the NFL when teams lose, unfortunately. There's a lot of money involved and things get messy. It's not a uniquely toxic situation.

@bpac55 he’s gonna surprise her with butt stuff

He was Juan in a million…

I mean if I'm a top flight OC or DC do I really want to come to Philly where I know the head coach is on thin ice. Another bad season and the HC gets canned and the new HC will gets thier own coordinators. Not a good option imo.

Exactly. Makes no sense to keep Sirianni around if things are so bad you have to replace both coordinators. If it goes bad again next year, then you have to clean house all over again. Who wants to walk into that situation?

😕. No one is suggesting that he would be at this time... but in the future that changes, and given that he has a no trade clause, that changes things significantly.   Can Howie pull off the magic again... in say 2026 after a couple more down years... with Hurts having to give permission?   Who knows?    Ideally, this is all moot and an offseason time sink for us to pass the time before opening day.  The hope, obviously, would be that Hurts rebounds, they bring in the right coordinators, the right extra pieces on defense and things turn around again quickly.   But, there's no guarantee of that.   2017 Wentz was a thing of beauty to watch.  The knee injury and the mental scarring from the team winning the Super Bowl without him changed a lot.  His play slowly deteriorated and the concussion from Clowney was basically the death shot for his career.  We have to hope that we aren't watching a redux of that.  The details being very different with Hurts vs. Wentz... but supposedly, the Super Bowl loss was very hard on Hurts, he took it badly and it might have drudged up something from his collegiate career (like being benched at halftime in the championship game).  The issue could be more physical and more related to the mystery injury/injuries that he was plagued with for much of the season.   Will his legs no longer be the same level of threat?  How will the lack of running threat impact not only his effectiveness, but the offense as a whole.   This past year, his lack of mobility seemed to hamper the offense as teams didn't have to respect it the same way.  And more importantly, even if he stays healthy moving forward, he'll need to learn to play QB in the NFL without his legs being a major component of his game, but rather just another tool... not a primary tool.   The offensive architect will also need to build the offense in such a way as to use his other strengths more and rely much less on his legs.   This isn't the NCAA where an offense can be built around a 19-23 year old QB, who is only going to play for a couple of years, and can take the punishment from (generally) smaller, weaker players, over fewer weeks and be younger with less tread damage to the tires and able to rebound faster.   The NFL isn't built for a 2-3 turnover at the QB position.  Bad teams do that.   The teams with prolonged success have QBs that they can build around for a decade or more.   This offense needs to be built with that in mind.  No more short term gains for long term detriments.  Build something truly sustainable.

And with all that said, THAT is the reason I wanted to move on from Sirianni.  They decided to go with the short term last year with Hurts... and it worked.  This year, we see that come back to bite us in many ways offensively.  Granted, the total collapse was precipitated by the defensive ineptitude, but the offense was also completely exposed as well, and the second half of the season, we saw an offense that averaged only 18.9 points a game in the final 7 weeks.  And that includes games against the Cards and Giants where they put up 30+.    They scored some garbage time points against the 49ers.  They got a defensive TD in the 2nd Dallas game.  The offense wasn't quite as bad as the defense down the stretch, but 18.9 ppg puts them even with the Atlanta Falcons for the season.

Add to that, on the road, this team averaged 19.5 ppg for the entire season.  That's 18th in the NFL for road teams.   Long story short, this offense needs a complete and total overhaul schematically, and I'm not sure that will happen with Sirianni at the helm.  And that means that the restart won't happen until at least 2025...
