This in and of itself is relatively harmless, but I do find it funny their last two franchise QBs who they loved enough to pay big contracts to, at the first sign of trouble they start taking issue with their leadership. Not ideal. Reeks of micromanaging.

I dont see how else it can make sense in their cap strategy. Theyll have to sign an expensive vet to replace him. None are as good. Or theyll have to rely on a rookie, which obviously would throw off their draft strategy as well.

If they can get a player back in a trade on a rookie or relatively cap friendly deal, it changes their strategy. Using Kyle Hamilton as an example only, if they got him in a trade then they can reallocate the cap they had planned to use in FA at Safety elsewhere, even at DE.

The problem is I don’t see a team giving up a young player on a good contract for a guy who’s going to be 30 years old in September and wants a new mega deal That lines up with some of the top pass rushers. That’s the biggest issue with this trade. Eagles want good value for reddick (understandable as he’s a great pass rusher) and teams i don’t think want to give up that value (player/picks) and also have to dish out the type of contract Reddick wants.

i’m betting the solution in this is the Eagles do something like the Cardinals did with Buddha Baker that smoothed it over for a year. Where they give him a little bit more money for 2024 to make him happy, he plays this year out and goes into free agency next year.

lets do it. Patrick Surtain.

Not sure if this was already posted. From yesterday. Big news. Running backs coach expected to be retained on Kellen Moore's staff. Its also funny to hear it referred to as Moore's staff. Siriani is the HC and doesnt have a coaching staff. His coordinators have their own staffs.

Sirianni is just a puppet now

For once, I actually agree with ESP. If you deal Reddick in your Super Bowl window and that’s all you have out there on your team, you are in trouble. Nolan Smith has never proven he could play 17 games and then the playoffs in a major role. He got hurt at Georgia. Brandon Graham wasn’t great this year so he’s a year older and likely to decline more. Johnson is just a guy. And sweat had a bad year. That’s a bad group. There’s no way with a SB window you could just add a depth piece or a guy in the draft and think that’s good enough. Especially an organization that relies and covets pass rush.

I am fine if they wind up trading Hassan Reddick. But if you do that and you trade away that type of pass rusher, then I’d expect the eagles to fully use resources in FA to replace him. And not just a depth piece. It would have to be a significant piece cause sweat didn’t play well in 2022, smith has never played a major role in the nfl for 17+playoffs and Graham might just be done next year.

Yea. A trade doesn’t seem likely. Howie kinda painted himself in a corner here for that with how many hurdles there are needed to clear for it to make sense. You just gotta hope Reddick is happy enough to take a bump and play out the year. If everything played out like Ertz where promises were made but not followed through, it could get messy.

He will soon be ready for a new mega contract too. Along with Smith and Dickerson. If you want a corner, how about just signing Jaylon Johnson or Sneed then.

I kinda look at it this way, hypothetically, if the Eagles regress, things get messy and at the trade deadline they aren’t true contenders then I could see the Eagles dealing Reddick for whatever value they can get at the deadline. A team gave up a second round pick for Montez sweat. Another team gave up a third round pick for Chase Young. I think you probably could get something like that at the deadline. So if it doesn’t work out, I think that’s ultimately the solution in season.

Gotta hope Johnson makes it to FA. I still think the bears tag him. like sneed but I’m curious to see what happens to him in his next stop.

Tush Push even failed in the puppy bowl but we gotta ban it because only one team can do it

Right, how vocal of a leader is Trevor Lawrence or Internet god Herbert? Why is it only ever our guy a guy who got us to a Super Bowl. I mean 3 year starter two playoffs and a sb appearance isn’t bad. The criticism would be zero on 27 other teams. I’m sure he knows what he needs to do the guy isn’t some bum qb.

I agree that they would definitely use resources to address the position. The problem is, the Eagles seem to be spending more resources on defense lately fixing things that aren't broken than they do actually fixing the positions that are lacking. Their DL has been the best part of their team for years, yet the majority of their premium resources have gone to that position. This is the biggest reason why the defense was so bad and why they never seem to have any building block players anywhere else on the defense.

Now, missing on the picks they did use at those areas is part of it too. But you're much more likely to hit on those picks when you spend your best picks in other areas on defense. And they never do. It's defensive line all the way. If they're unwilling to pay Reddick, then I don't see how they'd go out and be able to afford a Brian Burns. At that point you might as well keep and sign Reddick. If Reddick gets dealt, this reeks of Jared Verse in the first round. And them trying to piece the back 7 together via free agency(again).

But that's Howie's motto, a reset of average back defenders and spend all assets on DLine. It worked once...and the weasel is gonna continue that trend as long as he has control on the roster.

Jeff and co. micromanaging? Nahhhhhh.

My guestimation is Reddick would fetch a 2nd then maybe a conditional pick that is in the 3-5 range. If I was a contender in need of a pass rusher, that’s probably what I would give up.

I'm cool with trading Reddick. He's not worth 20 plus mil at his age. Wonder if the switch Milton Williams to DE. Maybe sign a guy like Chase Young in FA. He'll be on the cheaper side since he hasn't been able to stay healthy. Howie special right there

No thanks on chase young. Been a ton of reports the niners are really unhappy with his effort. Which was the exact same thing the commanders had issues with.

Comes with the contract

If we trade Reddick we can always bring back Casey toohill who’s a free agent…. :howie:

I haven't really checked out the list of pending FA DE that could be available. I know he's one. Unless they go DE in the 1st rd... not a deep DE draft this year

I don't think they care because of how it affects the team, like I talked about a week or so ago they care because of optics. He outwardly looks like he doesn't give a F and as the face of a billion dollar franchise with a rabid fanbase you can't do that. That's not to say he doesn't care, but when you're in a high visibility leadership position perception is reality whether you like it or not.

You can get away with being like that in San Diego or Jacksonville where the fans don't give a F and are just happy to be relevant, can't do that here.
