Your statement was too politically charged for the Blog.  It belongs in CVON.  Frankly, I am surprised you didn’t receive warning points for it.  Drop it now for the sake of the Blog.

I dropped it right after I posted ,you and another felt the need to continue speaking on it.

Notice i havent said anything else about it, nor attempted discourse on the matter simply responded to a poster who responded to me nor was I the poster that originally brought it up.

The OP could have chosen any number of topics in the news cycle to make the same point yet chose what he did, which i dont  have a problem with other than the factuality of the statement.

Were you also surprised the OP didnt get warning points for his politically charged statement as mine?

It's an absolute lock that we would look back on any Reddick extension and regret it.

The price is what I expected given the market… back to ARZ/Gannon in a trade?

Nah its close enough they will get it done

I'm pretty sure the Eagles used a 1st round pick last year for a Reddick replacement - Nolan Smith.

It's not just answering questions. It comes down to: Is this the environment a player (in a position to choose) chooses to enter or remain in? If the media is going to embrace every rumor as if, "well ... it sounds like it could be true," then they're indeed causing distractions for the team as those questions will come up in interviews repeatedly. Distractions can have a negative impact in more ways than one.

Totally agree, i think the local philly media is toxic.

They arent the only local toxic media but Id consider them near the top

I grew up in Utah and the Jazz UofU and BYU dominate the local sports airwaves but those are all small fries compared to anything in philly.

I lived in SF for 5 years but the niners werent good and rhe SF giants were winning championships but So they got a lot of coverage but I dont remember the local sports media in SF being as toxic as the guys in philly.

When AJ called out WIP Ike reese basically said thats how ut is if you dont like it leave.

Why not attempt to fix it? Why let the media run rampant and not have any repercussions?

Bout time a player called them out, maybe if more players from the major 4 teams did the same the idiotic local media might try something different, and maybe I just have no idea what its like and it happens in all big markets🤷‍♂️

Josh Allen is going to get closer to 33 than 23 if he signs a long term deal.

The media does have an impact on the team because NFL rules dictate the players and coaches have to interact with them.  The days are long gone when Steve Carlton could simply refuse all interviews

You can't refuse them but you can definitely not say anything you dint want to. See: Marshawn Lynch

What do you propose they do to "fix it"? "Calling them out" isn't going to do anything, the media these days only care about clicks and views and acting the way they do gets them. There isn't a fix, this is how sports media is in a big market and passionate fanbase

In other news... I know where the NFL could improve their product.

This looks amazing!

Not sure what they can do.

Are all large market teams local media as toxic?

Im not sure, if not what do they do?

Seems its more philly culture and local media is just feeding and eating it.

I dont know ive never lived in philly or a big market football town.

Like i said when I was in SF the niners werent and now im in wichita KS where mostly chiefs fans but as far as sports media even in KC its a smaller market.

I mean people here are passionate about their chiefs but they still have that midwest politeness I guess.

I think philly media reflect the culture of the fans there and or vice versa🤷‍♂️

I do love the TD celebrations🏆

Interesting draft notes

I have heard since senior bowl that scouts arent so high on Penix and 1st round isnt happening. Im not hearing Kollman re-iterating by saying he wouldnt be surprised if Jordan Travis goes before Penix, in round 2.

Also, Kollman said he is hearing 4.3 for Roman Wilson. I dont think anyone thinks he is that fast. If he runs a 4.3 he will go even higher than people are expecting.

I stole this screen grab from Underdog NFL podcast too

Kollman's WR sleepers- Corley, Malik Washington, Tajh Washington.

Disappointing list. I dont think any of them are sleepers, especially Corley. I guess the Washingtons are not talked about much, but they are still some higher rated guys. Not really unheard of.

Watch for Jonathan Brooks to the Cowboys. They need an RB and their team doctor did his surgery. They know more than anyone about where he is coming off the injury. Hes expected to be ready to go.

Roman came to Michigan and that was his MO, speedster. He has developed into more than that.

Penix before the late 2nd would be a shock.  He got away with what he did at UW because of a great WR room and a cupcake conference.  His mechanics (or lack of) will hurt him in the NFL.  He’s a serious project at the NFL level IMO.  Don’t think it’s at all interesting.

@Utebird I tried to send you a private message unsuccessfully.

I don’t like Penix much at all.  I haven’t viewed a lot of McCarthy and Nix yet, but to me Penix isn’t anywhere close to the top three QBs

Kollman and the other dude seemed to have those 2 and possibly even Jordan Travis ahead of Penix.

Talked about numbers without pressure vs with pressure.  Stark contrast.

Compared him to Goff.

Philly fans are more vocal and demanding but other fanbases discuss the exact same things we do in here, just take a look at other boards. After a bad game, people go in on all the players talking about who sucks and who doesn't. Who's a diva and who needs to be fired. The "philly fan culture" is something perpetuated by the national media. The expectations are higher here and fans let teams know when they aren't playing well, but that's not something you can use to blame the media for being a bunch of a-holes.

Like I was saying they want clicks and views. The way you do that is by doing controversial stuff and writing stuff that generates discussion. Negative stuff generates the most discussion and gets the most views, it's the way of the world.

For example, what do you think would get talked about more in here: a tweet about AJ Brown buying toys for kids at Christmas; or a tweet about AJ Brown freezing out the media?

One might get a few likes on the original post, the other would generate pages worth of discussion.

Would easily take penix in the 3rd, I think he'll be good. Especially in this offense where we have better WR talent than he had at UW. He could be a good backup, and could possibly grow into a good starter either if hurts turns out to not be the dude or if he gets flipped to a team that needs a QB

I wouldn't say the Pac 12 was a cupcake conference, at least not this year.

But yes he had an unreal WR group.

I hate that he's left handed but one thing he does have is incredible accuracy.

If I had to take a guess I can see him in the league as a backup for a long time like Chase Daniels and Jacoby Brissett have been.

Penix with one of our two 2nd rounders would be a no-brainer.

Insurance for Hurts and a cheap backup.

Yup, its shy loud mouth jerks like skip bayless have jobs.

No one in the media should try to emulate that jack wagon but sadly as you say that generates more clicks...☹️
