In this scenario, they would have to sign two high end players at CB/S/LB. Because if they don't land a top flight CB/S/LB in FA then this draft would be an absolute disaster.

A backup OT, a THIRD premium pick in a row spent on a rotation player, and then one player at one of the three positions they desperately need help at. In a vacuum, this draft would be an abject failure for the team as currently constructed

Trust me, I'm not advocating for this.

Just feels like a Howie draft.

He'll sign a Van Ginkel or Jewell at LB, Elliott or Curl at S, and take a run at one of the top or mid tier CBs in FA.

Then we will be sold that Slay and one of the young guns will rise up in Fangio's new defense. They will bring a new face in, but it won't be a gamechanger.

I would love a CB at 22

History says it's not happening.

Is there a good place to watch it now?

The Eagles’ Facebook page has the whole thing.

Let’s say ESPN offers 10m for New Heights to be on their network and him to be a part time contributor to NFL tonight, First Take, and Mcafee.

You would convince him to turn that down and go play NFL football for 1m$ when he retired partly due to physical issues?

Why would he ever do that?

Because

They're not gonna use a first on a CB. Not Howies style

He never drafted Sec guys either…until he did

June 2 should really be kelce day in Philly. (6-2)

Yeah DT is not like LT or WR where these guys are the starters and those guys are the backups…

It’s just pure snap counts. With Carter and Milton and Jordan they will still have a starter’s worth of snaps available with how they move those guys around.

and pure snap counts show that Jordan Davis plays less than 1/2 the snaps on defense which is a terrible use of pick 13 and 3 other picks.

I can't believe he actually retired

Sure he did. Where do you think Cox and all of the other SEC players that have played for the Eagles came from under his watch?

I would have liked Kelce as a backup Center and starting FB.  Cheap contract,  which becomes expensive if Kelce starts.  Vet minimum + $1M a game as a starting Center, or any game where he plays Center.  Kelce gets TDs as FB.     In the future,  the same type of thing for Lane.  Backup OT and Blocking TE who gets TDs.

The players that people like are the OL more than whoever the RB is this year.  I'd rather Kelce and Lane scoring TDs than some generic RB or WR or TE.   Getting Kelce and Lane TDs would get them into the hall faster and the people would want Kelce and Lane in the hall faster.

I’m surprised how open and honest Kelce was. I would have never thought he and the team disliked Foles so much.

Me during the entirety of Kelce’s speech.

Cox and who else? Mills, Riley Cooper, Barnett (even though Tennessee is a low tier SEC team), I truly don't remember anyone else prior to the Smitty draft. "All of the others" probably accounts for like 6 dudes from the Cox draft to the Smitty draft, and maybe two of them had an impact.

Edit: Jordan Matthews was vandy I think, so there's another basement dwelling SEC school.

Are they not SEC players? He has drafted SEC players is the point. The comment that I was responding to implied that he didn't. What Howie hasn't done is draft a 1st Round CB EVER.

Slay is not a guy you want young players to learn from. He's a me first a-hole with a social media issue

That seems like your opinion from the outside. Not sure they’d vote for the me first a-hole as a team captain in two straight seasons.

For many reasons, I've emotionally detached myself from professional sports the older I get, to the point where I almost forget how much I used to love the Eagles. Finally got around to watch the Kelce retirement and hearing him speak from the heart today really brought me back to what my fandom was. It's refreshing to hear an authentic man show his emotions and share how he felt. To hear Kelce talk about moments that he lived and we fans watched just brought a sense of realness and connection. He IS Philly. I don't think athletes should be idolized, but I think we need more Jason Kelce's for our youth to look up to.

Hearing him talk about the locker room and men from all walks of life getting together is what America needs. Sports locker rooms are the epitome of diverse cultures and there's nothing forced about it.  For every Malcolm Jenkins, there's a Trent Cole. For every Carson Wentz, there's a Jalen Hurts. There isn't a forced quota of how many of each player to have. You can tell he meant that from the heart. It's the absolute best thing about sports. I wish we had leaders in America and leaders in the media who would spread that message.

Jason Kelce is an all-time Eagle and an incredible man who we should all aspire to be like.

From a football standpoint, the Eagles are a worse team today without Jason Kelce. However, like I said earlier, this decision  now is best for this team moving forward maybe not in the immediate future, but for the long term success of this team. Cam Jurgens has every tool to be the real deal. Don't think for a minute that Jason Kelce isn't going to do everything in his power to help Jurgens succeed.

I hate retiring numbers, but 62 should hang from the rafters.

The top 100 player list every year is for the upcoming season, therefore Jason Kelce had his last appearance in 2023.

Looking back on it, an interior lineman made it into the top 40 players in the entire NFL. The players decided that barely 1 player per team was better than him. That is wild

Facebook doesnt seem to have it

I feel grimey, I don’t like losing Kelce and Cox at the same time, these are heroes.

I can't remember if I was on that bandwagon. I probably was. Thank you for refusing us

I definitely wasn't a Hurts fan heading into 22, but no one seemed high on the rookie QB class, (I don't follow college myself), and I didn't want Rodgers or Wilson due to age, and I wasn't too high on Watson either, so I actually, begrudgingly, wanted to stick with Hurts.

Don't be obtuse. You know what he meant

Who watches video on Facebook?

If you want to watch a retirement video your first stop should immediately be YouTube. I couldn't comprehend any other option, honestly.

Because he gets along with the other type A personality football stars does not mean you want them to follow his example.

Unless you want a bunch of players whose attitudes are "well we got crushed and the whole team sucked, but I had a great game". Then he's a great choice to lead.
