Big news @bpac55

Well, the NFL season is almost over. She has no use for the NFL to bring in new fans.

Because it would take to long to walk.

He's playing the Amazing Race.

Bi***es be crazy.

The product is definitely hurting... the economics of it haven't caught up yet.

Just judging from my kids and their friends, it's gonna be a while before that catches up. The NFL marketing machine is powerful and apparently very effective at casting a wide net. I think the overall fanbase is going to steadily continue to grow over time, even if there are some bumps along the way, and things like fantasy football and legalized gambling all but assure that. That's not to say the product will clearly improve during that time (not all things that are popular are necessarily "good") but the prospective to draw in casual fans from unconventional demos (kids, women, etc) seems to only be getting stronger, anecdotally at least.

Chasing Harbaugh.

He just keeps running away.

Or he’s not planning to make a change so didn’t deem it necessary?

Easy flight after the game from Tampa.  Likely needed a break from all the negative drama the last 6-7 weeks of the season brought.   Probably wanted to take time so he didn’t make an emotional decision - because I’m relatively sure he’s as frustrated (or more frustrated) than even some of the fans are at this point.

ESPN had SNF when it started.   Back in the 1980s/early 1990s, while MNF was still on ABC, CBS and NBC had the Sunday afternoon games.   ESPN got into the scene with Sunday Night Football.  I forget the guy who did play by play, but would remember him if I saw his face... along side Joe Theismann, IIRC.

Then Fox jumped in stealing the NFC package from CBS. So, CBS stole the AFC from NBC.  And for a couple years, NBC didn't have games.   Then NBC decided to get back into the NFL and took over SNF, and ABC backed out and let ESPN have MNF (They are both owned by Disney).

The reason ABC simulcast ESPN's NFL coverage is that paying to air extra content is expensive and so they decided to save some money on content and just get some eyeballs for MNF for the antenna crowd.

You're right, I forgot that they swapped SNF and MNF rights. Either way though, fragmentation has been an issue for a while. We just didn't think of it that way because most of us had cable packages with ESPN. Then when Sunday Ticket came along, the prices were so high, it didn't even compare so wasn't really a factor for most fans. Then we saw it again with NFLN and TNF. Now with the advent of streaming, there's this middle ground that's being tested where the "cable package" is more of an a la carte selection of disparate services rather than an all-inclusive package from a single provider.

Pulling an aaron rodgers retreat. Doing a bunch of drugs to help him come to an answer on sirianni and the eagles.

I hate to say it but don’t we have to go dline again? The pass rush just ain’t it in the least.

I don’t think so. Hard to get a rush when the ball can come out on the first read. Hard to continually rush when you can’t get off the field on 3rd down. Hard to get rush when the DBs are out of position every play. Hard to rush when you’re not rushing as a unit. Scheme issues, not the players imo.

Gross generalization, so much of the world is gullible through. So i know a lot of people shelled out money for the service (or a lot already have it).  But the NFL has reached a point where they’re trying to find new avenues to bring in revenue. This peacock thing, Amazon for Thursday games (it’s amazon right?), the switch to YouTube that is somehow more expensive than DirectTV.  Fubu has a lot too?  Stream service fatigue is going to catch up at some point.  I should have added ‘will’ to that statement.

Streaming isn’t the problem. Federating the games on niche streaming services (IE not live tv rather ones with exclusive content) is

Meh.  Not really a missed tackle.  Guy was 2-3 yards away from him in open space when he juked.

The missed tackles I’m concerned with are when guys literally have their guy wrapped up and just let him go.

Slay is the least captainish team captain this team has ever had.   I'd rather he were gone.

Not a coincidence it took him until 31/32 to become a Captain, anywhere

Yeah, I've said this a couple times but I think the Philadephia fanbase is fundamentally incompatible with Fangio style defense. And I think that's okay. I know basically any form of "Bend but Don't Break" (which is like 90% of the league these days) drives Philadelphia fans absolutely crazy.

Find a michigan tree coach

Although in watching the natty i see an awful lot of Bear Front concepts in that defense. Am i wrong @just relax?

I agree, its going to take time.  But my point is that the actual product isn't as good as it once was.  As I see it, the golden age of the NFL is over, but as they have continued to grow the audience, their revenue continues to grow, and they continue to mine new revenue sources, making it grow even more.  Eventually, I believe that bubble will burst though.

Depends on what you mean by "bubble bursting". I think the trend in viewership numbers might taper off a bit eventually, but I don't foresee a large sustained drop or anything like that. It's gonna be the most popular sport in this country for the next few decades, I don't see anything else challenging it.

All of these comments year after year of people always throwing out "yeah for the vet minimum" or "yeah for less money". These veterans while sure are not what they used to be but these guys are not going to come back and say yeah I helped bring a super bowl here, and was a valuable leader, I'll take half pay. It's just not going to happen. Than they will go somewhere else and we are right back to depth issues. I'm talking specifically BG, Cox and Kelce. That doesn't set a good vibe to young guys or free agents coming here that there hard work and leadership doesn't gain them some type of respect with the front office.

You don’t pay guys for what they did years ago. That’s bad GM’ing. Their pay is reflective of the role on the team and if they still produce.

Kelce played a pivotal role and produces still. Which is why he was the highest paid C in the NFL.

Cox played a starter, but rotational role and produces still. So he got $10M which is a good number.

Graham played a pure rotational role and is the least effective of the 3, so he gets less.

Plus, all 3 have a lot of pull with the FO and others can see that without looking at their pay. All have been here 10+ years which is rare in the NFL. All will have jobs handed to them or created for them post playing. All 3 are plastered all the walls of NovaCare and will be in their ring of honor or have numbers retired.

How does Sirianni even start these conversations with prospective coaches? "Hey, man, I think you’re probably good enough that Mr. Lurie won’t fire me. Will you take this job? Like, you know, my job depends on it. I can’t go out like Doug did. That would be embarrassing.”

Don't forget the OC would just be coming in to call plays for Nick's offense

Who says hiring a defensive minded coach is a bad idea?   I would love Mufasa back here.  Never going to happen though.

Hope he's able to survive when he loses coordinators
