Interesting that NFL.com doesn’t consider Safety a need for the Eagles…and that they list the WR position first.  Who put together this info, I wonder?

I forgot Isaiah Simmons, but he also sucks and might be a sucky safety. Actually he’d be perfect here.

He's been a LB more then safety. Either way hasn't been impressive in either position. He's a depth backup at best

LB I can see a trade coming for a vet we had no idea was even available.

This is the problem, from where I sit.  I have zero confidence in Blankenship, Nakobe Dean or Sydney Brown but I get the feeling the Eagles do.

Have a really good Gilbert Arena story. I used to go to the University of Arizona Wildcats basketball practices when he was there. And he would always talk to me and my best friend after practice about video games and all sorts of stuff. And one time after practice, they were leaving to go on a road trip. And he’s just sitting there talking to us for like a half an hour. And you hear lute Olson just yell"Gilbert get on the Fing bus" and you just see his eyes light up and he’s like oh crap I gotta go just runs to the bus.

In my journalism days, I was sent to cover a hometown player on the Warriors. Gilbert was a notorious prankster, but was a habitual line stepper. I was with the hometown player and he told me we’d have to sneak away because Gilbert had been trying to find out where he lived. After we got back to the condo, Gilbert pulled up, rolled his window down and yelled "I got you!” The next day he broke into his garage and trashed it, leaving dead fish in there.

Another time, he stole the guy’s NBA pager and sent a message to the league office as him, saying he was going to come out as the first gay player in league history. That caused a minor stir with the league and team.

If we sign Jerome Baker, we'll be fine.

Does Jordan Whitehead move the needle at all? Obviously not on the level of a Simmons, but could be a reasonable deal.

I think he’s a good player. I don’t know the threshold for needle mover though.

As I've said before, I like the addition for 2024, just not the contract.  Barkley is going to be really good for this team.  But he's not remotely one of the best playmakers in the league.  That's just crazy talk.

Is it possible that, behind this OL, he more closely resembles the player drafted #2 overall and becomes one?  Sure.  But he just can't be labeled that right now.

I’ve come to this rationalization (for lack of a better word since, at the end of the day, that is what we’re doing with all of these team decisions)… Saquon Barkley is worth what the eagles are paying him if, and only if, he stays healthy.  Obviously that can be said for any player signed in free agency.  The difference is Barkley is a true 3-down back and is better in pass protection.  I do not think that his running ability alone is the difference in price between him and Swift… I think there’s more to it.  Again… my rationalization.

I was gobsmacked when I saw his market value estimated on Spotrac at $16.5M per season.

The Eagles have some really interesting personnel for a true 3-4.

Nolan Smith and Huff as the OLB edge.

Milton WIlliams and Carter as DE.  Davis at DT.  Both DE's there have edge level upfield burst with immense strengh.

Behind that kind of beef, Nakobe Dean re-enters the discussion as a really interesting ILB.

Payback for signing Barkley.

I tried to tell you all, anyone thinking we would sign a good, competent LB was kidding themselves.

We'll sign a RB to a stupid contract and bring in Huff just to cut Sweat though.

Looking forward to the 1st round tackle, too.

The Eagles don’t value LBs even when it’s a glaring glaring weakness it just is what it is. It’s like the Giants with the oline 🤣🤣

We will sign a bargain basement JAG and draft a guy

Meh. I can name 5 safeties off the top of my head who are still available that I would rather have.

I didn't believe you so had to see myself.

They have his market value at 4 years $66M

Right now he’s no better than I am.

Schematically, Barkley needs to be another instrument toward getting the ball out of Jalen Hurts' hands.  He also needs to open up space for AJ Brown and DeVonta Smith.  The only way he does that is by being a weapon in the run and short-passing game.  Hurts needs to be a distributor of the football first, and a playmaker with his legs second.

What the Eagles need to figure out is, what exactly is Hurts if you take the ball out of his hands and make him a distributor?

Please tell us all again how Jerry Jeudy is a great number 2 WR and that Sydney Sweeney is overrated.

Day 1 was a home run for Howie.

Day 2 has been a strike out looking.

Still plenty of options at S but LB is really thin all of a sudden and unless they plan on Devante Parker being the number 4 WR I don't get the move and I'm not even sure he's an upgrade to Quez/Zaccheus.

Parker is infinitely more talented than quez in every way, his problem has always been injuries
