January 25, 20242 yr Think need to start looking into what was such an easy sell of drafting guys from the college dominating D from Georgia. Dean really hasn’t shown anything either.
January 25, 20242 yr Then you can add to that can send both edges can drop both edges blitz the interior LB can only rush the front 3 but having 5 guys up front and not knowing which 4 in the rushers simple but effective… You said Sweat was a 43 DE teams knew he was coming was no confusion when he was on the field….

January 25, 20242 yr Even the fans optimistically high on Nolan Smith potential have to admit they have doubts about his future after year one. Tough to break into a lead pass rush role here. But gotta expect a more NFL ready prospect coming in the first round. Not like he had to adjust from some small school level college ball either.
January 25, 20242 yr But a big selling point on these Georgia players was supposed to be easiest transition to the NFL. Big time SEC football at big time college game atmosphere. Under top level trainers and coaching.

But don’t think either will step up and train enough to be great. Milton transformed his body and worked like he meant business. I can rely on a guy like him much more. He’s big and fast too. A freak in any other setting of life not compared to the two high pick Georgia DT in front of him. I have my doubts Carter or Davis will have better careers than Milton. His hunger and dedication forces him to be relevant. Consistent. I don’t see either Georgia DT transforming his body and fully commiting like that. Milton is going into year 4... the urgency is there to make money. The Georgia guys will feel that soon too...natural progression that we have seen so often with players, especially DL.
January 25, 20242 yr But not what actually occurred. None of these Georgia high picks came ready to roll.
January 25, 20242 yr Just now, cunninghamtheman said: Nolan Smith potential have to admit they have doubts about his future after year one Not really when he was drafted he was under sized player especially as an DE in a 43. But our pass rushers also led to him not seeing much of the field who were we subbing out to get Smtih on the field? Weren’t going to take our Sweat or Reddick and if you did spell one you had graham and we had Barnett at the start of the year.
January 25, 20242 yr 1 minute ago, cunninghamtheman said: None of these Georgia high picks came ready to roll. Carter had 6.5 sacks as a rookie DT on a bad Eagles D he seemed pretty ready to roll lol
January 25, 20242 yr 2 minutes ago, cunninghamtheman said: Trade up to top ten for Davis and he’s looked this developmental? Think Davis just isn’t conditioned that his fault and he came out and owned that… guy that size that young isn’t that shocking…. He played alright first half the year it’s just getting him to play like that the entire season
January 25, 20242 yr Reality is Davis is never going to be that huge stat guy he going to be the guy stuck doing the dirty work that doesn’t get noticed as often getting to be a more traditional NT could be huge for him as well
January 25, 20242 yr Dean maybe never hold up at this level. That’s if he ever catches on to playing well even. Two years and not one game he showed as capable starter level. Couldn’t get a glimpse of action as a result of being behind Edwards and White even. Not studs that just couldn’t be taken off the field. Good solid pros. Legit NFL LBs to have to earn a job over. Dean couldn’t. And didn’t. But then looked lost in action. But suffered several injuries to deny him showing anything better. I liked Dean as a draft pick. Optimistic about him still. But expectations have fallen way back with him. Just want him to contribute and play a role now. Be able to hold up to pro punishment enough to be relied on week to week. He hasn’t flashed playmaking. Hasn’t fiashed just solid capable of doing his job. But just can’t even be believed he can suit up and start 20 games.
January 25, 20242 yr Didn’t recreate the great dominant D of college football. Didn’t even trade up and take Georgia guys so high and get the polished top level players ready to transition easily to the next level of football. Davis, Carter, Dean and Smith all went through the highest level of college prep only to arrive looking so developmental.
January 25, 20242 yr All but Carter looking like they aren’t durable players either. Finesse talented guys that worjed great on the lower level. Only on a team so stacked they rotated a bunch. Dean and Smith I believe they have the work ethic at least. They’ll both work hard but don’t have the bodies to hold up to play at this level. Hope I’m really wrong here. But the two DT could possess the durability and capabilities but don’t have the drive and love to commit and work hard enough.

Again Carter 6.5 sacks as a rookie DT for comparison fletcher Cox only had 5.5 as a rookie. Smith honestly not sure what people were expecting from him as a rookie who does he replace as a pass rusher? We taking Reddick off the field or Sweat???? Slash Graham already limited snaps??? I really didn’t expect to see much of Smith as a rookie. Dean has been a disappointment and can’t seem to stay healthy… Davis has flashed but can’t play consistently but he will never be the flashy stat guy anyway
January 25, 20242 yr At first thought the idea of grabbing as much of that fantastic Georgia D was an easy sell. Just too obvious to even question or doubt. But now seeing a different view where it didn’t work out at all that well….. or like we’d assumed.

I mean kinda playing out exactly like I was assuming it would lol outside of Dean. Carter was a stud as a rookie not sure how much more people wanted from a rookie DT Davis we all knew from the start it would come down to conditioning for a guy his size if he knows it’s a problem as he has admitted high hopes he gets it under control. If he can play the entire year like he did at the start he should be fine. Smith- did expect anything from him always seen this year as essentially a redshirt year for him. Dean injuries is a concern and he might not be the guy. Ringo was a surprise and could be a potential starter for us.

He dropped over off field death if his teammate. Had everybody up his butt about him being some problem. Not a team guy. Not coachable. Not a hard worker. Think we got the perfect storm of situations to force the best version out of Carter. But don’t think he really changed himself. Think he got scared big time facing losing it all. So he kept straight and out of trouble. But even had a small incident looked like poor judgment. But it was ignored and swept away. But still don’t see a kid who grew up and is dedicated to his job. Don’t picture him starting a huge weight room barn like Lane. See him hearing how great he was first half of the season. Like you did. Praise his early sacks. All actually working against us with a player like I see him. We need him hungry. Wanting to prove himself. Not year two already believing he can just ignore the work and coaching to improve. This kid never had to earn it before. Just so big and talented. Finally got him to work his rookie offseason. But he ran out of steam half way. Wasn’t conditioned near enough to be a force for the NFl grind. Nowhere near peaking and ready to ride come playoffs.

Maybe he doesn’t work hard maybe he falls off or maybe he stays like he was as a rookie a guy teammates said worked hard, listened and wanted to get better and loved the game

First two seasons he looked shot and used up mid season. How can this be anything other than disappointing? He’s a limited snap count run defender. He’s the biggest guy on the planet. How can he just let any and everybody hold him in blocks like they did. He didn’t seem to ever get off a single block the second half of the season. That’s just will and determination. Can’t be 350 but not capable of withstanding the Oline manhandling like that. Big and athletic is uncoachable. But running fast at such a size only to collapse after half a season worth of games is disappointing to say the least. Top ten. From Georgia. Not a guy needed to grow into size to play as a pro. He just too fat and lazy to get himself conditioned to handle the job.
January 25, 20242 yr People love to forget nfl players are humans Carter is what 22 lol lot of people though Travis Kelce was a thug got kicked off his college team loved to party even when he got to the league and he turned it around as he aged one of the best if not the best to do it
January 25, 20242 yr 2 minutes ago, joemas6 said: Wasn't he staring and playing until he got hurt? He didn’t even sub in to play at all rookie year. But yes the whole plan was no experience second year Dean was the only known starting LB. He was going to communicate with coaching and all the D. Then got injured in preseason. Then started the season. But looked lost. He didn’t show any signs to outside observers he could even handle the job. Maybe all the responsibilities of calling the D. Maybe bad scheme and coaching. Maybe surrounded by not enough experience and talent.

A what 350 guy struggling with the length of the nfl season when he played what 12 games in college and went to an extra 5 regular season games then the playoffs… Again guy who young and has to be on top of his weight and conditioning did shock me… hell I remember Embidd having conditioning problems in the nba when he was younger loved his chick fil a and Shirley temples he figured it out
