Guyton is a rare athlete for an offensive tackle. He is a former defensive end and didn't start playing offensive tackle until he got to college. That inexperience is still visible.

His strike targets to defenders' bodies are inconsistent, as is his hand placement. This has made him more of a pusher than a blocker. Still, his natural physical ability is evident.

Guyton’s foot speed and stride length for a player of his size are impressive, allowing him to mirror without overextending. He can fire off the ball quickly, giving him a good punch at contact.

Put a super gifted huge athlete in pro strength and Stout training…he can be taught proper hand placements.

You have Mims that has very little experience from Georgia. He’s even larger though.

You add in he’d be coming in to be mentored by his fellow alum in Lane to be the eventual replacement? Pretty ideal situation in many ways. Two huge exSooners pumping iron together in Lane’s legendary workout barn half the time. Heck could be something that even keeps Lane interested in extending his career for a fewmore seasons. Especially if he gets Guyton next to him at RG.

I want to have the problem of paying guys too early... because look at the difference in the effects on the salary cap of Carson Wentz vs Dak.

You got so upset Howie paid him early... we had all that dead money, yet still saved $600k of cap space and got those picks that got flipped into the Saints trade etc.

Dak...by letting him play out the last year, they tagged him ( huge cap hit) .. put in perspective ( Dak's cap hit with the 2020 Franchise Tag, was higher than Hurts cap hit will be in 2026!)  

Dak gets injured and misses most of the season...they still are forced to then give him a contract with 2021 numbers instead of 2019. 

This is where you constantly miss what I'm saying.   Drafting the player IS DIFFERENT than handling the contract.   Dallas does the first thing well... they absolutely mess it up afterwards when it comes time to pay.

Dak cap hit in 2020 = $31.4 mil

Hurts cap hit in 2026 = $31.7 mil

But think about it...cap was $198 mil in 2020.  By the time 2026 comes around it will be up close to $300 mil.

 

Comparing the Eagles way vs Dallas way of just writing contracts 

Hurts total cap hits from 2020 to 2027 = $117 mil

Dak from 2020 to 2024 = 140 mil .  With another $40 mil of dead cap hit in 2025.

8 seasons for Hurts at $117 mil = about $14.6 mil per season

5 seasons for Dak at $180 mil = $36 mil per season.  

Look at the difference and how that changes what each team can do.  Throw in Wentz cap hits for 2020 and 2021.... doesn't matter. 

Write the contract early.   

Lamb should have been done last year.  It doesn't matter that Lamb is better than Smith... what matters is Smith is going to be done a year sooner by the Eagles.  

That will enable them to leverage his 4th year into the cap hits.   Dallas can't do that with Lamb.

When the deals are done...let's look at the cap hits vs the actual cash the players get.

And let's be honest... those running situations are the perfect time to use one of Graham and Sweat on the edges.  

You go 4 man front, that's more suited for those 2 than the 3-4.

Like you are focused on such a minimum amount... like the few screens to Goedert. 

You have 60-70 plays per game usually .. you have to worry about the majority not the rare plays. 

Idk... if Huff is on one edge and Smith on the other... you are the opposing OC... you want to run the ball. Where are you running?  You can only run it in one hole at a time.   If you pick a soft edge,  then the other guy chases the play.   You can't attack both edges at once?

Nah....the RB didn't get paid because people realized they could get a decent committee for cheap.  

A committee of WRs isn't as good as one stud.  The WRs are going to get paid.  Everyone is waiting for Jefferson. 

It's why the Eagles could extend Dickerson by kinda setting the market,  but have to wait for Smith. 

Dickerson is arguably the best G... or one of.  Smith is a level behind the guys that are due for their first big contract....Jefferson and Lamb.

He can compete and probably win the RG spot in the meantime.

They need a guy to play RG now...they need Lane's replacement in 2027... if the same guy does both....that's who they need to draft.
