He was the guy that fired and hired the whole way. He telegraphed that very obvious step last season of firing Desai for Patricia. We had Fangio in house ready to take over the D …but Rosie screwed it all over hurt feelings over his boy Gannon. Lurie hires/fires the coaches not Howie
April 13, 20241 yr Crap but to be expected. Maybe a latish rd WR? https://section215.com/posts/devonta-smith-already-playing-hardball-with-eagles-contract-negotiations-01hv9g97n5kw

If the team / offense does something good, it's Hurts. When bad things happen it's not his fault. Who drafted Hurts? Best player in team history....in round 2? This is the internal conflict...lol.

Hilarious how people view the same information with a different spin. Btw... getting the deal done this offseason or before the deadline in the fall....that will keep the cap hit low, doesn't matter the cash or if it's 25 million or more
April 13, 20241 yr Wouldn't it be better to set the market then let others follow? Smith shouldn't be paid more than Jefferson, so it's anyone's guess.

Can't set the market with the player who isn't that level. It's why we set the market with Dickerson...he is that level. We set the market with McNabb, Wentz, Hurts....at those times when perception was the top of the market. Smith isn't that level. It doesn't work for either the Eagles or Smith to do anything first. Just the fans who worry about losing Smith so they want it done asap.

But if Jefferson signs for 33 mil that could equal 28 mil for DeVonta. It all affects each other in the market. I was thinking the 25 is a pretty obvious mark. Just comes down to the guaranteed money most likely.
April 13, 20241 yr Author OT- I am not religious, but I am praying for my friends in Israel with the huge imminent attack on the way. He has been a long time friend and I know he is used to this, but this is a much bigger attack than anything previous. I know this is a football site but..... Please send your prayers, thoughts or whatever you can offer to my friend Taylor and his lovely family in Israel. I fear they are going to need it this time. I have friends in Ukraine also, and I cannot fathom rockets flying over my head or hitting in my back yard. We can lose ourselves in sports and that's fine, but remember there are real problems in the world and we take security for granted where others cannot. Thanks for listening to my rant

So he's not playing "hardball",he is patiently waiting, that's not close to the same thing, but those POS writers need headlines so they juice up whatever their pea brains can find

April 13, 20241 yr Northern Iowa Dline prospect that wasn’t invited to the combine won’t accept Eagles attempt to have him visit.

Lamb and Jefferson drafted the year before... and Chase / Waddle drafted in front of him same year... both of those WRs will have a higher 5th year option as they were drafted earlier... same with Pitts. Ironically ...Parsons 5th year option is going to be slightly lower than Smith... even though his new deal will be much higher. Dallas will screw that up too as they won't get the deal done this year when they should. They will justify a 5th year option lower than Smith and think it's a bargain even though it counts 100% vs the cap and then they will pat Parsons the big contract with zero leverage on cap hits. Clockwork .

Not going to come down to that at all.... going to come down to the ability to spread the cap hit and the length of the deal. Eagles aren't going to cut him especially with huge dead cap. He's a solid player that's very young. He's going to get paid, just in a way that benefits the Eagles cap.

That's a great look to a prospective employer??? By employer I mean the league not just the Eagles. Idk about these kids and the advice they are getting or the mindset that goes on???

April 14, 20241 yr Since 1991, the Eagles have drafted 31 players in the first round, and only eight haven’t been linemen. Of those 31, 14 were defensive linemen and nine were offensive linemen. The others were five wide receivers (Freddie Mitchell, Jeremy Maclin, Nelson Agholor, Jalen Reagor, DeVonta Smith), two quarterbacks (Donovan McNabb, Carson Wentz) and one cornerback (Lito Sheppard)
April 14, 20241 yr A.J. Brown’s 2,952 receiving yards the last two years are the most in NFL history by a veteran in his first 34 games with a new team. Not bad from a running back at QB.
