But has BVS peaked?

Likely not he is only 25 and this will be his first full season as just a FB…. Did fairly well for us last year in limited action while still technically being a LB.

The other part is ST and BVS was a core part of that unit.

Not unheard of us going with 4 RBs and a FB but seems more likely we try and stash a RB on PS and just bring 3 RB and FB to active roster

WR and TE is interesting as well on how many we carry.

AJ/Smith/Dotson/Metchie are all locks to make the team at WR

Geodart/Calc locks to make it at TE

Smith, Cooper, Wilson at WR who could make a case for us to keep

Granson has apparently been impressing throughout camp and the team seems really like would be opt to keep him as a 3rd TE?

Once again BVS is going to take a roster spot somewhere and displace someone else if we keep him. Is he worth this sacrifice is my question. I have NP if he is or is not. Just wondering if his value/ceiling is higher than MJ, a WR,TE3 or someone on defense. FB is a dead dinosaur in my view, so is his value higher than a blocking TE? I mean other than a few select plays how much development can you pull out of a FB?. If you want him for 4th an 1's we already have a play for that LOL. If BVS is such a good blocker why aren't we trying him as a TE to develop? I have no answers, only questions 🤣

IDK where you are finding this roster space for 7 WR's and a FB. You can probably go 3 RB's, then again MJ will get poached off the PS, but you'd need to pull another position also if you want BVS. They seem to love Avery(why I don't know) so thats another roster spot. So these are going to be interesting decisions coming. Pick your poison

You guys have a good weekend

I'm off to Gulfport Ms for some fishing and great seafood restaurants

Did I say we are keeping 7 WR? I stated the 4 guys I think we keep then mentioned 3 WRs that have a case for a spot never said they would all 3 make the team.

Same with Granson he has a case for the roster never stated he would make the team

Doesn’t matter how we view the FB position the Eagles seem to want a FB…. And why would we look to train a player at a different position then what we want him to play makes no sense.

As to why Ben value is likely also higher then a 4th RB or 6th WR or even a 3rd TE is his ST value

Yes because he plays ST... and is arguably their best ST player

Only 3rd because of his injury

No offense to GB... I understand he is a draft guy and just loves college players etc.... and his approach at looking at total snaps for the season... he is missing where the trend was when BVS got injured.

He was out there as a FB pretty fair amount in those games... and on ST, easily a top guy. You can't look at 17 games where they started using him in the middle and then he gets hurt and misses the end. Then take that % of the season and say... look at the numbers, he wasn't that important. Watching the games as the season was progressing you could see how they were using him and that his role was expanding each week once they got the FB plays in there.

College guys aside (I'm sure everyone of them has all the potential in the world) you have to look at what a proven guy gives you...and the fact it's a young 25 year old, only allows for more growth. FB = Zig while the league is zagging. You have the perfect roster to use a physical style of play. Anything we can get to get the opponent to focus on stopping our short yardage or running game... just makes the offense better with a QB that has Hurt's abilities and limitations.

Couldn't agree more! DeJeans value is worth much more than being on ST's where big plays on ST's are more infrequent now due to rule changes.

PR is different than KOs. DeJean is built to be a return man…heck his return abilities are also what make him a lethal defender.

You’re going to need a vacation after your vacation. Catch The Big One!

You wanna zig while the league is zagging.

Look at our short yardage plays.... we go QB sneak by basically telling the entire planet it's coming.... and they still can't stop it.

On 4th and 2...is there a better play than the fade to AJ when he is single covered?

You take advantage of everything your QB offers there... tough to stop on the sneak with his build, shorter and strong legs, allows him to hide behind Dickerson and get lost in the shuffle.

On the fade to AJ... no reading of the defense, it's single coverage down a sideline... he floats it immediately without having to worry about being off balance or having to throw it 60 yards.

You take advantage of all his strengths and avoid he weaknesses ... you throw in a FB... now you continue to pound the other team... with a new element of Hurts keeping the ball and going opposite direction of the lead blocker BVS.

Good luck stopping it all. Do you use a nickel or do you put in the extra LB? Now what happens if it's a pass and you have the extra LB? What if the Eagles manipulate the formation where your weakest cover LB ends up on our TE or Barkley/Shipley???

Opens up a lot for the Eagles...when the defense either has to worry about the deep pass... or the short yardage play.... we have a perfect roster to do the opposite.

Johnny Wilson going to have season ending surgery on his ankle so he will be going to IR that frees up one of the WR spots.

My guess Cooper makes the team and we try and get Smith to pass waivers and put him on PS

Adds context to the Metchie trade…you know Rosie isn’t going to just volunteer extra.

Who’s the PR though?

Explain this one... I can't read your mind on how an injury made days after a trade adds context...and what the GM has to volunteer?

Im not disagreeing.. just stating that your thoughts are not being communicated here

It’s ..now..officially announced he has season ending injury.

I’m sure some analytics somewhere point towards Metchie will stack up near expected production from Wilson.

Is McKee available for week one as the second string QB? A finger injury..not requiring surgery…about all we know.

So Howie anticipated that Toth would roll up on Wilson's leg... and made the trade for Metchie?
