My sense from watching the game, and then the video cut ups of some of the plays where Hurts ran (very effectively ran) was/is that Hurts truly did go through his progressions … well past the first read. In none of Goedert’s 7 receptions was he the first read. Shipley was the first read on the 20 yard swing pass, but Barkley was consistently not the first read.

Hurts has been easy to criticize for running too soon in the past, but on Thursday he took what the Cowboys gave him when they gave it to him.

Za’darius will be coming into the BG role rather than Fangio’s preferred OLB role. So in many ways it won’t be Za’darius picking up and fitting, it will be Fangio adapting the same way he adapted to maximize BG’s talents and skills.

Good point. Also we need to understand despite being here awhile Patullo still has things to learn. The nuances of calling plays. he doesn't want to eff up and lose his job,so I suspect he will be tentative until he gets a feels for how players play. Watching is not hands on doing, so cut the guy some slack for a few games. As his confidence grows we should see more dynamic plays. Lurie loves giving people chances to perform and improve,so you can't expect a season pro out of the gate. If Carter returns we will have some semblance of a pass rush which will improve the defense for Vic, hopefully allowing more opportunities on offense. The first 5 games(well 4 more now) are a great test for Patullo. So far he is 1-0

He sometimes is a ball hog. I never said that was a bad thing,but he does make plays and that's all that matters. Personally would like to see a few deep shots to keep their D's honest and open things up a little more. JMO

Worthy is out. He is a big target for Mahomes. Contain Mahomes, make sure Kelce is covered tight. Not worried about their running game. Snuff that out early and it's all birds. With Carter back in, Mahomes will be doing alot of running like in the SB. I have this marked as a W. Score early to take the 12th man out of the game.
