April 25, 20241 yr Here is my conclusion. You will never have a coach good enough for Hurts....because he is so slow mentally that the coach needs to teach him all the basics. Moore is done in your eyes. The next too....if Hurts lasts that long For me... i think Hurts has 3 years...and I think he fails. I think the mental part of the game...if he is as dumb as you think he is ..will be his downfall.

You can always bring more rushers than can be blocked. You can try to matchup and block them all…or…get the ball off quick by utilizing hot routes. But WR has to be on the same page with the QB doing this.

Obviously you don't have confidence in his mental ability. Good thing he can run though right...most combined this and that...etc. The QB should be smartest guy in the room. He gets all the information and needs to process what all 21other guts are doing and needs to process it quickly. Obviously thar is the weakness of our guy. Sure isn't running.

You think you know the game enough to bring in the guy for extra protection?

Except Steichen did have him operating at a high level. Actually Hurts has operated at a very high level the whole time I’ve seen him. Already on such a clear path to being the best QB in franchise history. I’m riding the wave!
April 25, 20241 yr Let me ask.... you see Hurts coming over to ask...." you want Philly Philly "? Or calling in Ertz at lunch time on a Wednesday.. " hey Zach, when we get in the red zone, they are going to make this adjustment, I'm going to call an audible and I want you to change into this route " You see Hurts doing that?

Knowing this is coming why adjustment always needed for Hurts to overcome? You aren’t demanding Pop Warner QBing. You are demanding Hurts be the HC, OC, QB coach, QB and team leader. He’s guilty of the bad game plan and playcalling. It’s his fault we can’t correct and adjust. Does anybody else have a job other than QB1? I’m curious.

Yes…he has done things similar. Like the failed AJ deep ball against Seattle. Just got to the point where coaching had failed him to such a point of disgust they took matters into their own hands. Everything downhill after that.
April 25, 20241 yr 3 minutes ago, joemas6 said: Yes...Steichen unbelievable job keeping everything so simple and keeping Hurts out of mentally challenging situations. Wasn’t the case. Hurts proved himself capable of wing with his legs or arm. Then showcased what both together can be capable of.
April 25, 20241 yr You don’t see the coaches job as setting expectations? That he calls this play…D shows all these different looks and this is what the coach wants to happen? To me…that’s how football works.

What makes it to where I would have thought absolutely apparent being coaches not having answers was everybody knowing what the D is going to do yet still having playcalls that are terrible and can’t succeed. Then you can get into how the blocking assignments aren’t working. The WR aren’t adjusting effectively. The QB can’t beat the D.
April 25, 20241 yr Any QB just adjusts and executes according to the coaches plan, ideally. If the coach doesn’t have any answers nobody can succeed. Unless your whole argument is solely based on how uncoachable Hurts is.
April 25, 20241 yr 11 minutes ago, joemas6 said: Yes...Steichen unbelievable job keeping everything so simple and keeping Hurts out of mentally challenging situations. Steichen just understands how to gameplan and adjust. Playcall thinking ahead in a cohesive way. This play setting up the future plays and so on. Not just a bunch of individuals thoughts. But he has the knowledge and experience to counter. Coaches gotta have this ability. Do QBs? That’s above and beyond the job description there. Everybody has a job. QB isn’t HC, OC, QB coach….

April 25, 20241 yr All this is why I’m stuck in this forum defending Hurts so much. I can see issues and areas he can improve. But seemingly everybody here attacks and blames him for everything. Can’t even possibly get much into where I’d like to get to things on improving Hurts.
April 25, 20241 yr Brady wasn’t the absolute genius to begin his career. They were cheating and knew the playcalls of the D. Wasn’t him just reading the D so well. You could ask JJ if he was still around. He wondered why it was like they knew his playcalls the whole second half. But you could ask Spags. How did he fair against Bellicheat and Brady those two SB after he knew they were cheating like that? Beat him both times. Hmmmmm
