I think it was implied with Rosie’s answer concerning whether he saw Quinyon playing the slot. Rosie remarked…just want him to stick to leading the one job correctly first. Are we teaching the guy to have very tight great fundamentals and techniques? Or are we just developing sloppy try to get every job done the best you can day one skills? Then going to work on breaking bad habits we let him develop doing so. Real fundamental basic train of thought….I believed anyway. Don’t want a Jack of All Trades …master of none situation with a super elite athletic high potential player.

Brought in Shipley at RB. Are we lining him up in the slot WR role teaching that to him plenty through his first TC? He has versatility. Or are we concentrating on several key RB roles he could contribute doing first at the most sound fundamental way we can accomplish?

Why don't we let the kids get moved, meet their neighbors and teammates. Find out where the restrooms are at the Linc. We have(I assume) pro coaches not pee wee dads who do this on weekends.I would think they have all been down this road already?

My view was that was basically the main focus they had Hurts doing last offseason. Almost hyper focused on you got paid …we need you…don’t be so aggressive. Completely unnatural way of playing the game to Hurts.

Hyperfocused on don't be aggressive....while rushing 157 times?

As long as he isn't expected to be this slot guy having to cover the out pattern. We should be fine.

So it’s a no for DeJean in the slot from you

Have you seen any high school football lately.   Meaning see what these high school players learn/ practice and work on ...involving schemes and playcalling?

The game has evolved so much from a mental standpoint.  These 22 year olds are exposed to so much from the time they start HS ball 8 years prior.

You talking about COVID? JK

Not worried about Dejean.  We aren't the coaches.  They will use him how they think best works for the 2024 Eagles.

Then do the same thing in 2025, 2026 , 2027...and hopefully many more years.  With each year being what works best for the team.

Idk...call me dumb...I just don’t like the idea...I gotta cover a guy...but he gets a 5 yard head start in the direction we are both going?

Think about it...the inside CB has to cover the out pattern by the outside WR... that's like saying the CB should start 5 yards in the backfield while covering the go route?  Makes no sense.

Well as a TE(back in the stone ages) when I saw a guy laying off me,I had to watch him awhile to see if he was A)Setting me up or B) alot more talented than I was. Not more talented? Then laying off gave me the advantage as a receiver because I could make him commit with a twitch, then I could change direction which made him WAY out of place and he could not recover fast enough. I scored TD's this way. I was no "star" in fact I started as a RB,but it was mostly about getting your coverage to commit. IDK if that holds true at the NFL level, but I think it would

So,when I see things like the pic you posted,it makes me think "advantage receiver" Guys that would press me at the LOS gave me the toughest times

So for me last year the simple play calls weren't great,it was the fact we couldn't execute them, but we never replaced them with plays we COULD

For me it was a clear change of the book being out on our offense and never adapting. Coaches…good coaches talk about self scouting …I truely believe in this. I also believe in having multiple plays that come from each look. So the D isn’t just keying in knowing your playcall. I’m sure I learned much of that from AR. But if you line up in a certain way and can go multiple ways from that look…that’s an offense. Don’t want easy tells. When you hear the D yelling out what you are about to do? That isn’t good. Those plays don’t work a whole lot.

I think Hurts has that excellent ability on the quick short pass.

I think to expand his game...it's the plays where the whole world knows a pass is coming and executing the play is needed to stay on the field.  Can he make a read ..or two if needed while being blitzed?

The short quick passing game to me is almost like staying ahead of the chains because we are afraid we can't make the difficult 3rd down play.  In 2022, we could execute on 3rd and long...didn't need a quick play.

What is the answer to reading the blitz? It is the quick accurate timing passing game.

Idk...we ran the wishbone in HS.  My son's kid that is 33 ran a complicated scheme 15 years ago in HS... my other son's kid graduating this year has it even more advanced.   Shotgun every snap,  motions,  routes,  RPO...audibles...etc.  all of it.

Watching the opponents...I think one is the future QB for Penn State..very advanced passing game.

So much different today...starting at the younger ages

The local kids have the spring flag league.  High school has the spring 7 on 7 etc.  They just do so much more now, with exposure to many more plays/ schemes.

As I keep posting. If I have 2 plays and you can't stop me on either one it doesn't matter what we do or what you do.Unless you stop me I will run those plays to death

I will even call the play out to the defense because if you can't stop me who cares?

That’s great with Hurts on a Brotherly Shove. Exactly what everybody is trying to avoid otherwise. Hand signals headsets…guys trying to cheat and read playcalls. What did Bellicheat get busted doing? Heck Harbaugh was just doing what last season? You really think it’s irrelevant?

Why do I need to assign him a specific task in April???

Rosie was real clear after the first draft pick…going to concentrate on Quinyon learning that outside CB spot first before even bogging him down with slot job…but stated  knows he can do it and travel..eventually.

OMG just the TE position ALONE is so much more advanced than when I played. College guys coming out are "NFL ready". Just learn the speed of the game and you are fine. yes it's more complicated, but you are also better prepared than ever

So I see both of your points.

For me... I saw us ...on both sides.. pretty good on 1st and 2nd downs.

On defense too soft on 3rd down...just to easy for the opponent to pitch and catch for 12 yards on 3rd downs.

On offense...we move the ball...then in moments of truth...we go back to high school offense...QBdraw or something where we just kill a drive!

Like... it was just the timing of the few really bad play calls ...that killed the offense.   Was weird.

By the end with AJ out,  it was like watching a turtle go into his shell.  No creativity and no space... nothing was there at all.

So let me ask you. On 4th downs or 3rd and inches the defenses did not know we would run the tush push?? They knew we were and could not stop it. That is execution not play calling

2022...wasn't always a quick pass.

I'm in the "lets see his talents up close and who else we have and let the kid learn and grow camp"

So you are framing things based on our needs more than his natural position fit?

39 minutes ago, GreenbleedinNC said:

Let him cover AJ and Smith and the new Smith .He will get schooled rather quickly,so will Mitchell and that's what we want to happen

So play him outside CB first instead of S?

So if I can run a B gap RB for 12 yards EVERY TIME and you can't stop me why would I need 27 other plays?

How often today...do you have anyone 5 years in the same scheme?

The game has changed.

You bring up Mahomes a bunch. How would you compare Hurts his second season ever in the same scheme with the same OC and QB coach? MVP runner up were the official results

Let him cover all 3.He has to learn NFL speed first off. Usually that is what surprises college guys the most is how much faster things happen. Maybe we use Dejean differently depending on who we play. If their WR;s are not top rate we can play him where we think he can be the most effective.he is not going to match speed with Lamb, but you want him out there anyhow?

I get a simple answer there.   Mitchell in competition with Bradberry.  The goal is to get him ready to take over for Bradberry...yesterday!   That's priority.

I take nothing else from that statement.

I would think someone like yourself who drools over those old school shut down CBs ...would see it the same way.

But... if anyone is to make something more ...lol.

But seriously...that's all it seems. We should all be on board with that.

Did you notice the defense last year being masters at Patricia’s D right away when we switched?

Let's see if he can cover our new slot guy. 1 on 1 college guy on college guy. I would do that first. Let him cover A smiths slot routes, let A Smith play out just for fun at camp and let him cover that. Besides the speed he needs to learn different receivers. I'm sure that was somewhat limited in Iowa
