No because Revis isn't an Eagle

But Revis could play S well. So you value his versatility over Shutdown CB?

In 5 months before the season....I can have Mitchell bump and run about a 1000 reps... he should pick up a little something before game 1.

That’s not what we’ve seen the most from Fangio’s Ds so far. He’s more known for mixing up varying Zone concepts.  So you think in one offseason completely teach him everything? Just not very realistic in my mind. Think Fangio can maximize what he’s been doing so much in college…Off coverage. Man and Zones. And begin teaching bump and run techniques and rules.

If a coach could teach a kid everything in one offseason everything would be completely different. Year two TC : guys would just come in to party and lift weights. Just be checking in. I’ll even use my boy Hurts who has as extensive experience as it gets at 25. He has plenty still to learn and grow.

But you hear coaches and GMs say these things about just focus on one job…then expand from there. But then you want to jump to just have this other guy come in and perform a thousand roles? No consistency there in the train of thought.

That's the mindset with basketball.  Everything starts with the one mismatch of the stud player.

If the opponent doesn't have a stud WR... or a stud DL to game plan against.  It takes away the sizzle of a shutdown CB or stud pass blocker that could neutralize the one stud opponent.

Who did Mitchell have to shutdown in bump and run for Toledo?   If there wasn't anyone for him...  you play him off so he can be involved more with helping everywhere else.

If a team doesn’t have a good WR then the game plan gets real simple real quick. But Off coverage is what they ran. What he was comfortable doing. You have your eyes in on the QB that way. More reliant on that fast break on the ball….or tackle. Bump and run is just very different. But just starts with teaching him the techniques. Is he facing the Z or the X? Is the WR trying to get around him inside or out? Is it a bigger physical WR or speedy shifty guy?

Outside CB is the easiest of the Secondary jobs to teach also really. Got the sideline working with always. So less variety occurring with the transitions of others in coverages. Nickel CB and S roles aren’t just your own job…but what your teammate is doing on each side of you also.

On top of that...my idea with the shutdown CB isn't as priority as you.  Because one guy doesn't cover all 5 offensive skill guys.   Only takes one weakness in the secondary...one mismatch and it's advantage offense

Conversely...with OL vs DL.... the OL needs to be complete.  The DL only needs one mismatch to create an advantage.

Therefore I see more priority for ONE stud WR or DL...  but a more complete group at OL and DB.

You think they wasted Revis not utilizing his quality S skills?

Do the math.   4 months time.  1000 reps = 250 reps per month.   Say 20 work days...  13 reps a day... I hope he gets that.

Four months to be ready to go against the best of the best? Every player should just have everything? Not even. Football is the only sport that is 90 percent practice for the 10 percent of game moments.

Now we have DeJean…but you don’t want him outside

For me it would depend on match ups

Then again, if I have a lock down CB I would want him to travel with the hardest receiver to defend. Take away the best weapons is the name of the game.

Exactly how I’d prioritize things. I want him to do this more importantly over being versatile showing me he can also play S. Best job would be showing me he’s a CB that can travel with the matchup inside and out. Any player can do this…that’s what I want him doing.

Two high S that can cover half the field, single high S that can cover ground and distance, SS in the box….all that comes behind CB. If a player dominates as a Cb…I’m not trying to show off his versatility at varying S roles. By doing the CB job so well he makes the S job easier anyway.

Much lesser of a talented player…but can remember Maddox. I always understood he was a Slot CB. But they touted his versatility. Played everywhere else but Slot. S and outside. Don’t look to great. Then they finally put him in the slot and wham… looked great. So fans telling me oh trust the coaches know everything. BS. Seen too much to know better than that. Coaches screw up all the time.

Hassan Reddick complete stud pass rushing…took years for them to get that right

Cowboys drafted Tyler Smith to be their T. Looked terrible at T so they moved him to G. Looked pretty good there. Now they are moving him back to T out of need. I hope we show them exactly why that isn’t a good move.
.

Landon Dickerson everybody was convinced was drafted to be Kelce replacement at C. Dude is a stud G. Don’t mess with that. I don’t care so much about his versatility. Let him rock and roll at G. Works for me.

I can keep going and going with lists of players coaches screwed up on. I’m not one for sitting back just eating the manure being fed just because the team calls it Cheerios.

You baffle me....you went streaking after we drafted Mitchell.

You complained all 2022 because getting a rookie late round one would have made the difference

Now... your guy just can't learn to play CB for us this year?

You see where you are frustrating to have a conversation with?

We need to draft for all in this year..  we get the guy you want...but he won't be ready to play this year?

Head on desk!!!!

Quinyon nicknames are Q or Buggy. Gotta go with Q. Autocorrect always wants to change Quinyon…so he’s Q!!!!!

I don’t expect him to learn everything all in one offseason. Not everything even about the outside CB job. So clearly not ready to know the Slot CB job everything also. Just like I don’t believe Hurts will be going through progressions to his third and fourth reads so much week one this season. Much less be adapting the new scheme with his WR being on the same page with the tweaks. One step at a time. Then add to it. These guys don’t possess Bellicheat level knowledge of the game at such a young age.

To be fair and honest I promised streaking…but chickened out. Calling myself out on this one.

Of course that allowed me to check out the rest of the draft and raise some money for charity…so probably a good call.

He’s  playing CB for us this year. Fangio loves Off Coverage concepts. A bunch for him to be taught there though still. He should rock and roll at it. Just keep adding to as he goes along. Will he be in Bump and Run and traveling to the Slot this season? Can’t say on all that. Not where my expectations lie honestly. (See what I did there?)
