I’d expect Parker to get the first crack at it, but I also think there’s a fair chance that the guy who ultimately ends up as the Eagles’ third receiver is someone who isn’t on the roster yet.            Basically saying no one we have is good enough,that is badmouthing. He is in no position to make that call and he needs to shut up and stop being disrespectful before the competition even begins. It's rude and unnecessary. He has no clue how any of them will perform especially the new kid

Do you think Parker can move inside on the majority of snaps bud? I know they’ll want to move everyone around a bit but you’ve got to think Smith and AJ are going to be on the outside like 75% of the time in most games?

He is basically saying it's an unknown... how do you not see that?  There is a "chance" ..how is that badmouthing anyone saying he doesn't know who will get the #3 spot?

I think Parker...when he is on the field, will be outside... and one of the other 2 move in the slot.  Both can play there.  I think they mix it up with all these other WRs and use them all a little, and in different ways.  I'm not too concerned about as much as being curious and interested to see how they all perform.  I don't think they need a clear #3.  Think it's a limited chance they get another WR to come in and take the majority of #3 snaps.  However, it would be ideal if they do get a clear #3 who really performs well.  And ideally it is one of the rookies.   With it being even more ideal if it is GB's round 5 slot guy.  

I think their plan is to allow the rookies some time to develop, and it's probably why Roob is thinking there is a possibility of an outside guy coming in if the young guys are developmental and Campbell and Parker underperform.   It's absolutely possible.  None are locks to perform at a standout level.  " chance"  of anything really.

Sure, Parkers age probably keeps him inside,but he could also be an outside BU or a relief guy I would think. He would also be(Parker) another big target in the RZ. But I hope they do move them around some.I'm not sure how much slot experience DeVonta has,but he could be a wild man there on a few plays with the 2 big possession guys out. I would like to see this type mix from time to time,simply to exploit the weakness of opposing D's

I see it differently. When he says "that guy may not be on the roster" to me that is slamming all the guys we have including the guys Howie brought in in FA. It's like "welcome to Philly but you're not making the team" and I feel his wording was awful. Round 5  KIDS(as far as football goes they are KIDS) have dreams of playing in the NFL, just like round 2 guys. Ainias Smith fully expects to be our future slot guy. I'm sure Howie figured he would draft a slot WR at some point,but brought in Parker and Paris because they are veterans who are already up to NFL speed. The KIDS need to learn that stuff. but then again he slammed those 2 by saying they may not make the team either. At this point I don't see Howie going out and getting another WR unless the deal is ridiculous. So one one of these guys will be the slot,or maybe they rotate them,but to say"that guy may not be on the roster: was out of line to me. Just say something like "with all the guys we brought in, it will be an interesting competition to see who will be the slot guy" That's all he needed so say. Leave the "he may not be on the roster out" It sounds negative when he has no idea how they will do in camp. It's a slam to the players that are competing for that spot. He didn't say he didn't know,he said "that guy may not be on the roster". But maybe that guy IS on the roster. How does he know??? Even Ngata could be the slot,or Covey. it's just stupid to make the statement he made. We have 5 or more guys competing for the slot,but he seems pretty sure "that guy is not on the roster"???? Just poorly worded and he needs to know better than this. That is my opinion and obviously you have yours,but if I'm a writer I don't want to quash a kids dreams nor tell the pros we got in they may not make the grade. it's demeaning to them and not necessary. if they fail and we cut them,then write what you want,not before. Right now they are all Eagles competing for a job. I think Roob should "probably not be on the Eagles writers staff"

I love all the possibilities. Covey was the #2 returner last year,so I think he sticks on ST's. Possibly an "emergency" slot guy. Ainias Smith can also do that ST gig,so there is another competition. Campbell and Ngata probably the weakest links. Paris wasn't used much before so it's hard to know what he is capable of,but if he wasn't used much,maybe there was a reason for that. Ngata IDK because I don't go to camps,but he's been here awhile and needs to step up to make the team IMO. Neither of these 2 would be world ending if we cut them. I would like to see Ainias from the 20,then Parker in the RZ. The slot spot is a bit easier to learn because it doesn't require as extensive of a route tree to learn. A rookie slot has a better chance of making the team and I'm sure Ainias will know most of the slot route trees from Texas A&M as the pros run similar plays. I think the kid was a great addition and will solidly be the slot guy once he gets there.Anias impressed me right away as a slot guy when I started my research(and Malik Washngton as well as McCaffrey) Being limited to the slot,he was never in my mind a #1 or #2. I had him as a round 4,so getting him in 5 was good value IMO. This will all shake out in camp but I suspect even if A Smith doesn't play he will make the team,but I fully expect he will be a contributor early or win the slot start outright. I had him or Malik as my 2 top slot guys in that draft. He seems to have the good hands Quez didn't and we know how costly some of Quez's drops were. I'm excited to see this offense. It's was boring,pedestrian and vanilla. Moore will open this up and it should be fun to watch this team again

It's possible....if the idea is the 2 draft picks are developmental.... and Campbell and Parker don't do anything to stand out.

He didn't say the rookies are going to get cut.  Obviously if they are developmental...they will stick.  But Parker and Campbell are one year tryouts...they could easily be replaced immediately if they don't look good ASAP. 

Covey probably is done. He’s a very good P returner. But that’s been his only job. He has to win the KO return job also. We have so many other options though….

He'll be replaced with Billy Ho. 

I could see having Shipley and Ainias switching positions out there. Motioning in to some very interesting plays. These guys both have a ton of YAC Creation Ability. Just have to get these guys involved with that batch of playcalls. Parris you have to consider being the vet option out there. Open up Goedert more for other duties. But combining with any of these guys out there on the field creates conflict in the D.

Ranking the first time MVP candidates pisses me off they have Purdy in front of Hurts.

It’s the NFL it’s what have you done recently and fact is Hurts played poorly down the stretch yes ton of that was coaching but its the media they don’t care about that

Oh for sure I want them to move guys around and find the favourable match ups. There wasn’t enough of that last year it seemed to be "here’s our offense, we think we are more talented so will win 1 v 1”. It didn’t work so I hope we are going to see guys move around a bit.

One thing I would say… I’m not sure Covey makes the roster. That’s just my very early prediction. Not because he’s bad but I just think they have other guys to return kicks and so far he’s not shown he can really play on offense. But hey he was superb at punt returns last year and that’s definitely value so who knows!

Yeah, been reading about Covey. Not sure if he got a really good shot on the field, been a good returner tho and with the new rules I'd hate to learn the hard way to keep an extra guy there who's playing on the O and gets banged up.

OT but particularly to those w/ med probs. Said the other day all we can do is have hope and grace, left out realizing there's nothing to forgive or beat ourselves up about - although we old timers do it all the time! Wound up at the ER this am, hardly did a thing for this 3 yr old, every waking moment headache. Had them call my doc up at Mass General - which is a good hospital and he's the ass't director of Neurology - so no slouch. Gave me the usual cocktail, then some Percocet ( which is nothing ), treat and on the street - that's what ER's can only do. So went and had some cocktails of my own. The bartender gave me more than enough shots of Mr Beam while commiserating, which helped a lot more than the percocet I didn't take cause I knew where I was heading and acetaminophen and alcohol don't mix . Got home and the hope kicked in. May be heading to Thomas Jefferson in Philly as they and a place in Ann Arbor are the only 2 headache intake units in the nation that take my insurance. So there's the hope part. Just sayin. My better half's in on this as well. There's hope. Hope it went well for you yesterday as well GB and others going thru this kinda crap.

Whatever Joe,we have differing interpretations and you aren't changing my opinion. He talked about A Smith in the same breath and it was a slam to him and Howie's FA choices saying none of those could be on the roster without having no knowledge at all just spewing his own BS

Like I said he was #2. Do you replace that guy with an unknown? But as you said, IDK if we have a roster spot for that limited play. 123 pointed out DeJean has that ability and if we's not going to start right away it would give him something to do

Really want Shipley to live up to the hype. Slot, TE, RB - all crossover positions who can cause confusion for D's.
