Think we all really want to find a way to afford a third slot WR option here. Him especially being a huge factor if either of our two studs is out for any key moments. You still whining about Queen? LOL. Move on. We don't need to "afford" a slot guy. Take the top one in the draft,my guy Ainias Smith. Also see if Covey can do anything there. Retain Julio,he can do some slot reps on rotation(and he is a big plus in the RZ). Find out if Allen is serious about football or not. It's time to lose him if he's not. Nothing to afford doing that. Pick up another cheap FA while Smith gets in the groove(but he will do damage with whoever selects him). He's no JJ,but then again he won't go until round 4. That's excellent value for a guy who COULD start right away.

February 20, 20241 yr Author Traded back from 22 to 28 and picked up pick 60. Worked out well as I got 4 of my targets in Tampa,Trotter,Stover and Smith. First pick is still up in the air for me,but would have NP with the edge I chose
February 20, 20241 yr Author Here's Davis. He would be fine as a prospect where I got him. Need to refine his skills, but the talent is good enough for our RBBC approach. has NP running easy pass routes. A clone of what we have, but we seem to like those

We have plenty of cap space pay for Barkley or queen slot option or anyone else we want lol we are sitting at what roughly 20m in cap space can make moves that free up even more space…. Likely easily be walking into FAs with 35-40m in cap space. As for the slot WR not overly concerned with it we have 2 really good options outside and pretty good TE…. KC just won it all with Kelce and makeshift WR room if we can’t figure out our passing game with what we have there is a bigger issue then not having a slot guy

Should create more room.
February 20, 20241 yr Smith is on the books for $6.4 mil cap hit. That should go lower with an extension. Or at least stay near the same. Reddick will drop with an extension... Byard cut will save a ton. The money is there...it's just the desire. 2011...they had all the cap space in the world...signed backups everywhere... left the LBs and S spots to 3 rookies and 2 other ham and Eggers. It's philosophy and player selection...not lack of cap space that will be and has always been the issue.

The point is the same we will have plenty of cap space to work with and sign players that we want. Easily should be around 40m mark if not higher come FA
February 20, 20241 yr We are at what like 20m with projected cap increase cutting Byrd alone saves us what??? Like 14m that’s 34m cap space…. Extend or trade Reddick/Sweat opens more space…. Moving Bradberry possibly Maddox
February 20, 20241 yr Author We'll be fine on cap space and let's remember we have some nice high picks coming via comps. When do they do those?
February 20, 20241 yr Author https://overthecap.com/projecting-the-2024-compensatory-picks Projecting a 3rd and 3 5ths for us. I would bundle up those 5ths to move into round 4

Not what I would do however Would say I’d be shocked if we took a QB so high but we have done that recently with Wentz-Hurts so not like we can rule It out completely
February 20, 20241 yr I’m really not sure what we do this offseason. Id love Barkley but I just want that 3 down guy I don’t want the drop off from our lead rusher but since they can’t catch or pass block we have to go to someone else like gains who wasn’t nearly as effective but again Rook plus Zeke wouldn’t be a terrible idea if we he’ll bent on the committee think Zeke has some trend left slot WR mid late round draft pick this should be our 4th option if we can’t get our passing game going with trio of AJ/Smith/Geodart we have bigger problems then our slot. Be it the O design or QB Defense needs so much DL- good young trio Milton/Davis/Carter depth an issue NT is a concern with Davis conditioning Edge- Reddick if we work it out and extend is fine but still what 29-30… just don’t see Sweat as a great fit. Smith is still unknown maybe he fine maybe not…. Patrick Johnson about it on the depth side. ILB- I know we like Dean still and Cunningham but we need to upgrade. CB- we have talked enough about but could be looking at Slay then young guys with Maddox/Bradberyy seeing the door S- Blankenship and Brown(when he gets healthy) nothing else. I will say outside of maybe CB, S and LB we have some good young starting options it’s mainly the depth

Too little to make a call on,but both seem to be pocket passers, not real subs for Hurts because you'd need a plan B play book. I enjoy the west coast style passing game/pocket passers. I just doubt we would take one that high right now after signing Hurts to the big contract. I mean if this was year 3 or 4 I could see it,but the timing is wrong to do it now IMO. Also if we are drafting them to trade them later, then I could see that investment,so who knows. But seems like a waste to bring a QB along, then trade him. Suppose it's possible

We need not only a youth infusion in the secondary but some TOP TOP prospects. 5th,6th UDFA's rarely cut it. Blank was a nice surprise. I had Ricks alot higher. He is having issues transitioning to the pro level. I will give him some time. He has talent as a nice BU/relief/situational guy. That second mock I ran trading back from 22 to 28 and getting the 60 really looks nice to me. I got my top targets. You can change out who you want at pick 28,but the next 4 are right on what we need

Hurts hasn’t been bad but he hasn’t been the passer we need either… We have weapons AJ/Smith /Goedart lot of teams would kill for a trio weapons like that. Then you look at KC that had the most drops in the nfl last year won a SB really all Mahomes had was Kelce and Rice(who stepped up as the year went)
February 21, 20241 yr As for the trade option if we drafted say Penix in the 2nd what’s the chances we get a 2nd back for him???? Or higher??? Especially if he doesn’t play??? Hurts isn’t the healthiest QB but he good for 15+ games
