Ok what about in the event of a 4 WR balanced alignment? Which us the strong side?

Traditionally the right side would be designated the strong side, Why? Because traditionally the qb is right handed

Maybe you should sit this one out😉

Did you look at my post showing the Ertz highlights, and he lined up on the left side more than the right, making the left the strong side.

@Utebird what is the strong side on this play ??

A few months ago there was like a 5 page debate on the best fast food chain chicken sandwich. All because I said chik-fil-a caused me to destroy my toilet.

... well made the same mistake the other day and had the silent squirts for two days. Such a dumb move

OMG.  You’re unbelievable.   I said he wasn’t a Philly Hero.  Like you said he was.  He was not liked in Philly when he was playing.   Now after his death he’s been respected and celebrated especially by fellow athletes and respected by all cities including Philly.    His birthday was Sunday.  They paid respect to him, that doesn’t make him a Philly hero.  It wasn’t an assertion that people didn’t like him.  Good God man.    You’re like arguing with a teenager.   You asked me why Kelce wore his jersey.  I showed you.   You can move the goal posts all you want.

So not liked in philly when he was alive but respected and honored  when dead?

What if tom brady died tomorrow in a car crash would you buy his jersey?

What about jerry jones would you rush out and wear a cowboys jersey on his birth day?

Kelce and harper especially kelce who has a pulse on the philly fan base and is a beloved philly hero wearing a kobe jersey from kobes highschool in philly would suggest that philly likes kobe and claims him as one of their own no???

Maybe not pre death but surely now no?

The right side.  That is where the blocking TE is.  That is where the defense has placed it's strength (three players to the left of the NT, two to the right).

The strong side of the field is the side where the TE  is lined up.  The HB, WRs and RB are all lined up to the weak side.

again i know what designates the strong side and weak side.

I appreciate those who are honestly trying to be helpful though.

The conversation spun out of control. I should have been more clear in what i was asking which was the origins of strong side weak side pertaining to left or right handedness.

The three players to the left of the NT are a DE, a LB and a safety.

So even though the majority of the offense and defense is on the left, the right is the strong side because the TE is lined up over there ??

Not trying to argue, this is an interesting discussion, and I don't think those terms apply to today's NFL like they used to.

Does not apply to handedness.  The Zach Ertz video shows that, he was on the left more than the right.  I would have to dive in, which I will with my superbowl DVD, but I swear the Eagles run 3 WR to the QB left side all the time.

I think the formation is more determined by the hash mark than the QB handing.  Why would you put 3 WR on the narrow side of the field.

He lost me as soon as he asserted velocity is the single most important aspect of pitching; it’s just not.  Control, movement, variation of location and velocity, the ability to throw at varying arm angles and release point are all more important.

Yes, it's strong right. Another point worth mentioning: the RB usually lines up on the opposite side of the formation from the TE. There are multiple reasons for this but they boil down to (1) the RB getting a better view of where he will run  if he gets the ball and (2) the QB can read the weak side LB, DE, and S before  the snap. He  will always have a hot read there if the defense decides to do something funky.

Just to muddy the waters further, in my day on my team we had a "strong" tackle and guard and a "quick" tackle and guard. The Eagles run that basic system although, because the NFL is such a passing league now, the LT stays home on most run plays. You will note that our RG rarely pulls except in a screen. It is almost always the LG, i.e. Seumalo. This is part of why I have said in the past that Pryor is not ideal at LG because he's not quick and agile. He's a masher. Not all teams run this system, obviously.  Mike Iupati has always played LG if my memory serves and he' is strictly a masher.  When  Evan Mathis was here he was a terrific LG. Alan Faneca at Pittsburgh was another such. Brooks and now Peters are RGs in Stout's system. Chance Warmack played LG for Stout at Alabama but he turned out to be too slow at the position for the pros.

So two high profile philly athletes pay tribute to kobe and your assertion is that people in philly dont like kobe?

Did philly boo bryce harper for reppin kobe.

I didnt hear or read anything on here or from philly media booing kelce for wearing a kobe jersey.

Ignore it. Kobe was liked in the Philly area. Yes he only played in HS here but he was a big Philly guy who loved and respected the city and its sports teams. He was a Philly guy in heart and people around here respected him for that. Was he a "hero"? No, but he was liked by most Philly people even when he played for the hated Lakers. Now a guy like Will Smith id say is the opposite at this point. A Philly guy who turned famous and really could give a rats a** about Philly now.

I get that. Im not suggesting that wentz or even current offense is designed with handedness in mind but that the origins of football were And as another poster said that design is based more on the running game than the pass game.

As for strong weak side  i posed that in the event of a balanced formation like a 4 wr set with RB directly behind qb the right side is designated as the strong side due to the origins of formation based on handedness???

By this point it's just a label. If the formation is balanced it's balanced, with no strong or weak side. Offenses look to identify the MLB, not a strong or weak LB.

Thats what i was wondering. I always see the qb or center pointing out the MLB but for the defense are they designating a strong or weak side or just calling it balanced?

I I eat Chipotle's tomatillo hot red salsa (which honestly isn't that hot), there's just something about it that ruins me the next day.  I think they insert mini-grenades inside the salsa that detonate while eating and explode on the way out.

I still eat it once a week and accept the consequences.
