losing Dillard sucks. now we have to wait and go through this whole nonsense with him again next year.

It's also not like he looked good in camp.  It makes OT a top positional need in the draft.  Maybe they could sign Trent Williams on a short term deal but they have to plan on Dillard not panning out as a pick at this point.

I actually really liked the Dillard pick. Obviously it’s not looking good but still can’t write him off.

We have exactly one bad play documented  anecdotally. There was also a comment about six sacks in nine plays on a goal-line drill, none of which were attributed to Dillard. Are we dismissing the other OL guys too?

wait, now we have 2 blogs?

Did you think Dillard was lacking more in upper-body or lower-body strength? The pectoral tear obviously will limit upper-body training.

It's a bicep tear, not pec. Generally speaking, recovery should be shorter compared to other tears. He should have a full offseason next year to train.

Good for you! If they want to discuss "football only" call your creation something different. The blog is ours and we discuss what the hell we want, when we want to

How many months is the recovery?

Tega Wanogho is a rookie.  I think there is a real good chance he pans out as a swing T.  Personally other than Berman, I don’t think the beat reporters read OL play well, especially in practice.   At fifty yards away, they aren’t hearing what the instructions are.  Heck, they don’t know if it is a defensive or offensive drill.  I know you like Mailata as well   I cannot tell from what we get if he plateaued last year or continues to progress.  I wonder if the bull rushes we have heard about are a bend or anchor issue or hand use.  Or it could be performance by the DE.  Ostman had 13 sacks as a senior and was a dependable tackler.  Reason for his being an UDFA is his skill set is as a DE but he was way too light coming out of college. Toohill led Stanford in sacks and TFLs   Knock on him was he gets tied up on run blocks and wasn’t good (frankly, awful) in his gap play on runs   He lacked pass rush moves   He was projected as a 3-4 LB   Maybe he is viable as a backup backup at DE, but what the beats never report on is the wins by the OL.  Dillard looked decent at LT last year.  This blown out of proportion reporting on his camp performance so far this year is nuts.  I don’t know that I trust the beats that did it to assess his performance.

Frankly, they struggle with coverages too.  That is why the tweets are about catches and interceptions.  What they don’t see is mirroring and shading to the coverage which may be what the coaches are teaching.

Stephen A is yelling at Max Kellerman about Fox News. On ESPN...

@HazletonEagle probably would know better than me, but I think it first depends if he tore it at the elbow or the shoulder. My dad tore his at the shoulder last year and had to have surgery. You start PT around 2 weeks after surgery, full heal is about 4 months for a normal person to resume normal activities. Probably will be a few more months for him to regain full strength and range of motion for a football player.

I do have to admit the HE and 4x4 hijacking it and discussing roundball was funny.

Bicep tear is what I saw reported. Probably same result on upper body training.  Muscle tears can vary greatly, I believe.

Anchoring depends on core strength. That's mostly what he was lacking. If you look at JP, he's not a body beautiful but his core is massive.

So we get Dillard and Brooks back for our Super Bowl run with fresh legs.

Its pretty much the same for the distal bicep. I assume his is distal or else they might not be doing surgery on it. Or, it could be the short head of the bieps at the shoulder which attaches at the labrum. Sometimes it can tear a piece of labrum with it so theyd fix that too.

Either way, about the same.
