Yep. Nothing from the Eagles, nothing from Peters, and nothing from his agent. Just "an NFL source. I'm thinking it was another reporter over a few beers, saying ish.

It’s probably the agent. They’re very often the "source.”

Your football knowledge is second to none, and I agree with 99% of your takes on this team, but I am surprised by this statement.  His false starts are annoying, and his injuries are bound to happen at 39 years old, but maybe show the best LT in Eagles history a little more respect than this.   This isn't Mad Men, and running an organization out of fear is the best short term solution to create a long term problem.  "Cutting the fat slob" who is possibly a 1st ballot HOF candidate (and who we need desperately after losing 2 starters) will have more detrimental effects to this locker room than keeping him.

"What have you done for me lately?”

Even the Patriots knew it was time to move on from Brady. It’s a business.

I would argue that my football knowledge ranks behind many.  Sometimes it is just time to move on.

Fair enough.  If I were to make a pure decision without an impact on a locker room, I would agree with you.  15 years ago, Joe Banner mostly nailed these decisions, but even then, players had to shut up and play.

Plus losing 2 starting OL before a game is even played is typical Eagles luck.  Someone like Peters can only help right now.

Good to hear, but wonder how well that will translate to "Smokin" Ryan Kerrigan and DeMarcus Lawrence.

I'm sure it sounds hypocritical, but that's the one team I don't make comparisons to.  Best QB ever, Best coach ever,  always 1 step ahead......6 SBs in the last 20 years.  The respect is there no matter what the locker room is like.  The Patriots are in a different stratosphere.

A great point I heard from some reporter recently when talking about Joe Judge, and I can't quote it exactly, but it was along the lines of "Every single head coach from the Bill Belichick tree that tries to coach like Bill Belichick......fails miserably."

Surely the Eagles had a contingency plan in mind if Peters had retired at 38.  Peters was only brought back in when a job at RG opened up with Brooks’ injury.

My preference would be to develop one of the younger guys at LT; if Mailata, Driscoll, Prince, etc. are not ready then Peters should be moving over — the only reason I was receptive to the Eagles re-signing Peters was he had that flexibility option.  If (and right now it’s if) he isn’t willing to help the team out under his signed contract then my preference would be to let the younger, hungrier guys play.

When one of these younger, not ready, guys gets Carson Wentz injured for the year, I’d be wishing they paid JP to play LT.

Most of us in the real world are asked do do tasks outside of our pay grade.  I had a female boss before.  When she went on maternity leave I covered her role for her.  Should I have asked for more money?  I did what I was asked to do, no questions or care tbh.  Part of the job.

O-line shuffling happens all the time, especially mid-season.  Just sounds like a major D to me, despite all the good JP has done for the Eagles.

Every day I drift further and further away from caring as much as I used to.

I have asked for raises before. What's the big deal?

JP is not that good at this point in his career.

And Jordan Mailata/Matt Pryor/Driscoll are?

They might be better. We don’t know, but we do know JP isn’t close to what he once was. He can’t even be a full time LT anymore

If you seriously think at 38 JP can be your starting LT for 16 weeks PLUS another 3?

You cray cray and are going NOwhere in this or any other league.

It's not even a question until you stick a younger guy out there and after a half or two , you just figure well "This aint workin' "

Wentz can take a hit. Stop being a buncha masked Wussbags. I swear the NFL these days. I'd put Seth Joyner at LT week 1 in front of half you millennial brained dopes.

Andre Dillard might be better too, but Ostman drove him into Wentz in camp and almost got him injured.

That's the kind of attitude you want from a player

He's not the same player. He's slower and kills drives because of false starts

I've never played OL in my life, but I always think about how ungratifying it would be to play a position like that.  If nobody talks about you, then you've done your job.  I undertstand it... IF from a young age you were bred to be a 300 lb ballerina on skates, but Mailata was playing professional rugby with the ball in his hands running over people because of his athleticism and size.  Then he's tossed into the NFL learning mechanics, footwork, use of hands, Stoutland intensity, etc.  It can't be an easy mental transition, but I'd like @justrelax take on this.

I understand that money talks, but I always wonder how much these guys actually love the job itself.

Oooh don't play ANYBODY under the age of 35, Carson might get hit playing "FOOTBALL".

This aint Flag, aint two hand touch, Myron.

OMG .. I'm a reporter who NEVER WORE PADS and I almost fainted when I saw Dillard get tied up with CARSON.

Hey Geniuses. Wentz is the guy who keeps getting back up. Dillard's ALREADY gone lol

Yet he’s still better than what we have.

No one cares about the age factor, it’s about skill.

Jason Peters can not play LT in this league. Maybe for a 4 game stretch.

"Skill" wise. He might make a good Guard.

Mailata's either your LT Or your Swing T.  The guy's the freakin size of Jonathon Ogden. So he grew up playing without pads. Is it REALLY That different?

What "Skill" teaches 6'8 350 with a wingspan long enough to choke the dopiest of speed rushers? God half the time all you gotta do is push their left shoulder pad.

Aint no Reggie in this League folks.
