The Cowboys played a game 3 years ago in which Tyron Smith got hurt and Chaz Green gave up 6 sacks.

There are no good options in September when your starters go down.

Cordy Glenn is a pretty damn good option compared to to the likes of Chaz Green, Jordan Mailata and Matt Pryor. And he’s sitting right there for us.

Why choose to go with inferior players who will assuredly hamstring your offense and eliminate 40-50 percent of your playbook? The Eagles has all camp to watch these guys. To bring in Glenn speaks volumes.

The whole "let the young guys play” only makes sense when you have young guys worthy of playing or you’re not trying to compete.

Edit: I should add that your example of Chaz Green further strengthens my point.

If it means protecting the franchise QB, you do what you have to do. And you already lost your young LT.

I’m seriously baffled that anyone would be cool with trotting out Mailata or Pryor at LT. Our QB has been through enough. Do we want him to be healthy or not?

Well they love Sudfeld and he was released by Washington...

Id rather Mailata at LT than pryor, at least Mailata has the athletic ability to play LT Pryor is a slob, hes woefully overmatched on the outside.

Putting Pryor at LT in an actual game is going to end in disaster.

IMO you've got to go with Stoutland's final word on this one; that's why the team hires position coaches to develop and evaluate guys.  I agree with you; just bringing in Glenn for a workout pretty much gives you the answer.  I'm assuming Peters told them no, or he'd be over there and no need for Glenn to come in and workout.

Or... They need depth because this OL is scary thin right now and they know Peters is going to miss time and they know Pryor at LT is a gamble.

I think both are disastrous. We’d have to help either a majority of the time in pass protection. That means we’re getting Goedert and Ertz into routes later or keeping them in the block for the play. Or we keep Sanders in instead of getting the ball into space or 1 on 1 down the field on a linebacker.

Choosing them means hamstringing yourself. I don’t agree with doing that in September. If Glenn is healthy and has a decent workout, he’s light years better than them.

I'm equally baffled that more people aren't criticizing Jason Peters for extorting the Eagles...he's actively putting his QB at risk!

also a possibility

So you really think Army and Navy would be playing if this virus was that horrible??Playing football is more important to Army and Navy than the safety of their future leaders??

I get why the Big Ten and others aren’t playing... the fear of lawsuits. All I’m saying is that if this virus made it 1% more unsafe to play football that I couldn’t imagine our military academies participating.

Army and Navy have far more control over their players socially, that is, they can limit their potential exposure more effectively than most colleges where it's difficult to quarantine your players and keep them away from the student bodies.

One is a negotiation and the other is malpractice. We’ll see if Peters really is refusing to play there or simply saying if you want me to play there you should pay me more.

Frankly, I think they should figure out some happy medium. Bump his salary a bit and work in a Pro Bowl bonus.

Fair point.

However, isn’t that all the more reason to play football? Without football, do you think the players are just hanging out in their dorms?

@bpac55  This should take care of you.

Is this as big of a dick move as it seems like it is by Clowney?

I wasn't impressed by either him or Darnold in college.

Who else remembers Beast raving about Rosen the night he made his first collegiate start? I'm not sure the words "the best quarterback prospect ever" were actually used, but the level of praise was pretty darn close to that.

I agree. Last year Mailata looked serviceable at LT in the preseason Pryor has never been serviceable at LT, hes barely a RG.

I agree,Bringing Glenn in though would be an upgrade over both

correct

Cordy Glenn is available because he's broken down. If he was good/healthy, he'd already be on a team.

And he could be bad and still a major upgrade over Mailata and Pryor. The bar is that low.

I have a Facebook friend who lives in Cincinnati and is a die-hard lifelong Bengals fan. I just asked him his opinion on Glenn, and he replied, "Yeah, he's at least competent at LT. Not great, but fairly decent." It sounds like a no-brainer to me.

Incidentally, today is one of my favorite days of the year. Cutdown day is fascinating. Tracking all the Eagles cuts and noting what else is happening around the league. Unfortunately I have to go to a family event today and will miss out on the nitty gritty.

You guys are worried about pryor/Mailata
