I think the hydroxychloroquine is a medication with a ton of side effects. Some very serious ones. Even for conditions it has already been approved for it seems you have to really choose extremely carefully who you give it to.

I think in COVID cases, where they gave the drug to people as a last resort medication a lot of people died. They were about to die anyway. But also in that scenario, the risk reward ratio goes out the window. If youre going to cause blindness in a patient well... we may take that risk to save their life. If its a patient with mental health issues which may cause a worsening mental health condition... well maybe we can treat that after we save this person's life....

I think it was given freely to people who werent ideal recipients, because as a last resort medication it didnt really matter if the patient was an ideal recipient. It was a matter of life and death. And many still died.

I think this drug can be used carefully in an ideal patient probably before they are on their death bed. And a greater percentage of those patients will benefit. Many even without adverse side effects.

Im not sure we are ever going to get to that point. There are probably more effective treatments already on the way. I read something about a cholesterol medication (I forget what the name of it was) seemed really good. Even more recently I even read something about some kid of seaweed... Theres probably going to be a host of safer and more effective treatments to where we dont even need to de-stigmatize the use of hydroxychloroquine. Its probably not going to be a battle worth fighting.

We have large studies in those types of patients already though. In that thread I posted there's on that breaks down the groups by age and illness severity and still didn't see a difference. Another looked at early course treatment and prophylaxis. So I dunno I still have a really hard time buying it being effective in any population at this point. We don't have a true double blind case control study or meta analysis out there as far as I'm aware but we do have some decently powered studies now after the initial craziness.

I assume Goodwin’s opt out gets the Eagles to 81.  What time today do they have to be at eighty?

OK, so this is where games can be played no?  Could the Eagles go to BG, Alshon or any other player with a big cap hit this year, come to an "agreement" for them to sit this year out then roll that in to next year to help their cap?

We can't plan our lives based upon a vaccine if you ask me.  We will be stuck in this crappy 2020 world forever if that's the case.  I'm not a doctor but a quick search shows that the flu vaccine is 40-60% effective in reducing the risk of getting the flu. So let's play the average and say 50% of the time it works.  On top of that only about 50% of the population gets the flu shot.  With those percentages, the flu vaccine works on only 25% of Americans.

Are you willing to keep life on hold for a vaccine that A. hasn't been developed yet, and B. might only work for 25% of the country?

In my opinion it's ridiculous to say we need to hold out for a vaccine.  If and when they develop a vaccine and people decide to get it, great.  However, we can't live life dependent on a vaccine.

This is why I don't understand all of the hate towards Hydroxychloroquine.  From reports I've read, it isn't a cure but it does help in certain cases.  If it can help even a small amount that's a good thing in my opinion.  I've never in my life seen people so against a potential aid in fighting a disease all because one man said it's good.

@HazletonEagle   am I way off track in this thinking?

Flu vaccines are design to inhibit a broad-spectrum of strains.  It isn't totally effective because the strains mutate each season.

This isn't the flu.  It's a specific virus that can have a specific vaccine.

I have nothing against Hydrozychloroquine, so long as it's rigorously evaluated and used properly by doctors.

The issue many had was the manner in which it was aggressively promoted in lieu of normal treatment protocols.

At some point today, but I haven't seen a specified time. Guessing its by 4 or 5PM when all the days roster moves need to be submitted by for the day

No. Nothing changes. You would just be taking their 2020 cap and putting it in 2021. You would still be stuck with them next year and now a year older. Best case would be to play a week or two and then have the season canceled.

in any event, by now we should be on to bigger and better things. I dont really care much about that drug anymore.

Funny how an offensive lineman is just 33, meanwhile any running back not named Frank Gore at 33 is 3 years out of the leauge.

And then Phillies fly into Miami Monday. Great plan.

I think MLB made a big mistake by going for a 60 game season, should have capped it at 20-25 games and called it a season.

It is not correct to refer to the virus as Covid-19. Covid-19 refers to the syndrome caused by the virus.

The virus itself is called SARS-Cov-2. NO ONE refers to it as that. Its the corona virus, or some other slang term such as The Rona, rona, wuhan virus, Chinese virus.

Is Trump calling it the China Virus just to tick of China since he is pissed at how they protected China from the virus but infected the rest of the world and were dishonest? Yes.

However, this is a SARS virus. There is a middle eastern SARS. And even the previous SARS outbreak was often referred to as Chinese SARS because thats what differentiated which SARS you were talking about. And no one found that offensive under the previous administration. Some of you  hypocrites cant just be offended when its convenient to fit your narrative.

Amazing, every word of what you just said is wrong.

We need to be better.

I don't usually buy the "if he played for X Team he'd have been much better/worse" argument, but it's hard to overstate how weak the QB play at TCU was while he was there.
