Some quick thoughts on "Liberation Day," also known as "Liquidation Day." Obviously, these tariffs are way beyond anything the market expected. I think very little of Trump and the administration

Would you call it extortion?

@Arthur Jackson Is that too angsty?

Pretty much everything in @vikas83 's post, aside from the unnecessary personal attacks on your president for the color of his skin (not cool!), seem pretty spot on to me. I also happen to agree that Apple would win in a case over this were it to be actually implemented.

So there! angry

Also, who in Hades is Molly Ploofkins? That name is awesome.

Singling out one company and penalizing them for making a product overseas is so beyond the pale it's stunning, even for the Orange Imbecile. The EU tariff stuff is bad, but putting a "tariff" specifically on iPhones is bananas and clearly illegal and unconstitutional. If he goes through with this, it will cause financial markets to spasm. For the good of the country, I hope Apple takes the government to court (they will win), but I fear Tim Cook will make a pilgrimage to the Oval and make "concessions" (maybe buy a bunch of the meme coin) to avoid a fight.

I've been considering throwing a few grand into UVXY when it flatlines.

I almost bought yesterday. 🤷‍♂️

Right now the market is in the "we don't believe a word he says" camp for the most part. Well, that and his tariff tantrums are moving rates lower which helps equity valuations. But between it being the Friday before a long weekend, and people just not believing a word he says, the market is choosing complacency.

I hope they start pricing it in so volatility reduces and bau becomes "the president is an idiot"

But UVIX or whatever volatility index would have been a good play in hindsight. (I mean, same as anything really, but I actually considered this one lol)

radical judiciary!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So can this judgement be ignored or are the tariffs immediately paused? I honestly don't know what matters any more.

Winning.

"A little pain is necessary"

Which really is a far cry from "Trump low prices. Kamala high prices" and "We're going to be so rich".

The only way to defeat perceived communism is to institute actual communism.
