There is a strong financial incentive to recycle them nearly 100% of the time. They're very valuable.

Even 10 year old batteries from an EV have strong charge retention. And a lot of value in rare earth material.

Right but today it isn't always cheaper for a variety of reasons including the lack of infrastructure and the costs of meeting govt regulations. Overall the rates for all lithium battery recycling are quite low but the car batteries haven't really reached EOL yet for the most part and the regulations are stricter for those which add cost but also increase the requirements to recycle. Hopefully, all that will sort itself out.

A buddy of mine s a green energy energy writer for a major outlet so he test drives a ton of EVs. He got a souped up McLaren Artura last year which was apparently an absolute beast. Thing was worth about $300k.

Of course the last time he gave me a ride he just happened to have a Fing Subaru 👎.

The Taycan is technically the wife's car now, but I still drive it about 40% of the time. Decided to get myself a GT3.

Honestly, wherever I need to. I have insurance if something happens. Never understood people who spend that kind of money on a car to never drive it.

It's not an investment, it's so I can enjoy myself.

But yeah, at restaurants and hotels, valets super careful with both the Taycan and GT3.
