February 3, 20251 yr BTW, Mexico's already caved and cut a deal to pause the tariffs for a month. Canada will do the same very shortly.

February 3, 20251 yr Tariffs on Mexico have been paused for 1 month. Mexico has agreed to send 10,000 troops to the border to aid in preventing the flow of fentanyl into the US, and the US has agreed to take measures to prevent the flow of weapons into Mexico. The two countries will continue to have talks throughout the month. Good stuff

February 3, 20251 yr Hold up, I thought the tariffs were supposed to make us "so rich". That's still happening, right?

February 3, 20251 yr We never learn from our mistakes. The Smoot-Hawley Tariff Act of 1930 did not cause the Great Depression, but it made it worse. The act increased tariffs on imported goods, which led to retaliatory tariffs by other countries. This caused a significant decrease in international trade, which contributed to the economic downturn.
