That's a nice little slippery slope towards socialism.... Trumpism is just another form of collectivism, not all that different.

Looks like he took the wheel Let's hope he somehow got into Trump's ear and steered him in the right direction. 5 minutes ago, Diehardfan said: Or he was pushing for more which good negotiators do and then went with what he really wanted. 60 countries or whatever it was caved and came to him and he's rewarding them. You better than anyone should know you don't ask for what you want you go above it. The negotiations haven't even started. They normally take years to conclude. He caved.

April 9, 2025Apr 9 Putting the pieces together -- we know Bessent canceled his talk with House Republicans because he was called to the White House. Based on that quick press conference, it seems clear that he convinced Trump to pivot. So they will play this as Trump hit the global economy with a bat to shake things up and spur conversations -- MAGA will eat that up, and sane people will realize it's a cover story (because it was so remarkably reckless). But Bessent is in charge, for now. And that's a very good thing. Hopefully we don't see Lutnick or Navarro again.

I usually go to Aldi and my usual ~$6-7 for just under 2lbs of chicken is now ~$10 Beef is high and has been for longer than 90 days. I haven't noticed pork or chicken with the same rise. One problem with beef is that it takes a long time to replenish the herd. From the time a female calf is born until that calf has an offspring of her own is about 3 years. Cattle ranchers have to keep that cow off the market for at least a year in order for her to produce a calf. Hogs are about 6-7 months. Chickens? Surely less than that. I haven't seen a price drop either really but I seem to see more sales in many Super Market items.

You are ridiculous If he wanted X They said we aren't negotiating on that Last week he put things in place and they said we'll negotiate X meaning it will probably be less than X He says well I want more than X raising the bar so when they do negotiate he can come down to what he really wanted They are talking so he paused things for 90 days while they talk. In what world is that caving outside of TDS
