You think so?

He made some amazing clutch throws and plays. They are being overshadowed (especially around here) because of the mistakes he made.

The dime to AJ for 60+ yards could not be thrown better.

The first TD dime pass to Saquon could not have been thrown better.

And there were quite a few more.

His major mistakes were him trying to make something out of nothing and can be corrected, imo.

Those are routine throws...

I don't expect it to be a major injury

Sure looked like a multi-week or season ender to me. Definitely a knee issue with a major sprain or complete tear of one or more ligaments.

If Baun and Becton continue to play at high levels, they would be two prime candidates for extensions

34 points, 410 yards despite the first two series.

Yep, they were sloppy, Hurts made two ill-advised passes, the defense is a work in progress.

What I learned from AR is the first four games of every season are a "shakeout cruise," where players adjust to new schemes and plays and players.

This team has great potential on both sides of the ball.

After 4 games, the coordinators have two weeks to figure what needs to be tweaked. At that point, Brown and DeJean will return.

Somethings stand out:

Becton wasn't a disaster at RG.

Barkley is a beast.

Carter is a stud.

Blackenship is underrated by Eagle fans.

Baun is an athletic playmaking LB who needs to be more consistent.

Dean is still a work in progress.

Maddox looked like a guy who played S in camp.

Final Game One Prediction Results

@Mike31mt with a prediction of 34-27 gets the win, with @mattwill with a prediction of 35-28 gets the runner up.  Same total score, but @Mike31mt wins by predicting the correct Eagles score.

A total of 76 predictions were recorded with 53 for an Eagles win and 23 for a Packers win.  The average predicted score was Eagles 28 Packers 25.  The 76 predictions were as follows:

My bonus prediction was pretty close.

First pick was absolutely awful, but first center fumble was Cam’s fault

Second pick was iffy, looked like AJ maybe had a 50/50 play if he didn’t slip, but Hurts didn’t need to try that in that situation. Second fumble was 100% on Hurts

He did have some awesome darts to Devonta and the touch on Saquon’s deep ball rivaled any pass he made last year. Calm down with the spray & pray and we’ll be fine.

Nothing 'iffy' about that second INT.   It was against QBing 101 to throw LATE, AGAINST his body, OVER THE MIDDLE, IN THE RED ZONE, WHILE LEADING.   There was SO MUCH WRONG with that decision.   Brown slipping doesn't change any part of that decision making progress.   You just don't do that in the NFL, especially when he's not a guy with a howitzer for an arm.   He can't make that throw consistently, so it needs to be out of his head to even try.

And let's not forget his decision making before the end of the first half... or his decisions to keep on these RPOs that went no where.  He was very bad from a situational football perspective in big situations.  He had some very good 'physical' plays, and quite a number of bad 'mental' plays.

The pass rush made Love move off his spot often.  Or alter the throw.  I suspect that we'll see a lot of pressures in the stats.

For instance, Ojomo was hitting Love on the third down throw that went through the end zone.  May have been a 4-point non-sack.

lol no they weren’t.  Half the QB’s in the league would have a tough time with that exact ball placement on timing throws.

Agreed…Hurts did not suck.  His mistakes were bad and were magnified.  For his first game in the new system, he was ok.

The new system had zero to do with the INTs or the fumbled snap at the goal line.

He had someone underneath wide open on both of those plays which is the frustrating part

I said this last night, the second int was incredibly infuriating cause the play before was a really poor decision that nearly got picked and if the defender picked it off it’s likely a pick 6. Then the very next play he makes that poor decision. Given the situation can’t have a turnover there with a chance to kick a FG and extend the lead to 8.

How dare you talk about anything positive Hurts did?! Are you even a fan?

Now you're just hating.

Stick with the decision making.  Plenty of low-hanging fruit there.

He still struggles with the blitz.

You saw him struggle with the blitz last night? In which particular play because I think I counted only two blitzes from the pack and he beat one of them with a throw to AJ for a 20 yard gain.

I think the new emphasis on where OTs can line up is hurting Lane’s mojo.  He looked off tonight

He was heated after that illegal formation call and was yelling at the line judge before the next snap.

One would think the motion is helping with his reads with this early sample. We shall see.

and I forget who it was later but Hurts sideline throw where he looked like he was throwing it to a Packer.

That was the one to Dotson I think, and he threw a pick a couple plays later on that same drive.

Moore called a great game. Every weakness they had last year he rectified. Recognized the faults from last year and did his best to avoid them. No dumb screens, creative and efficient.

And stopped using Smith as a lead blocker!  :flex:

Ya .. both QBs could have thrown 3-4 picks in this one. Extremely sloppy.

Interested to see what the Eagles do when Rodgers returns. Do they play him in the slot? Play him outside and move Mitchell inside? Stick with Maddox? Go to DeJean?

Maddox was bad tonight. Rebounded in the 2nd half a bit, but still. Rough game for him.

Rodgers won't play the slot, he said it himself.

After last night, if the Eagles have any lead in the 4th, the game plan should be hand the Fing ball off to Saquon and watch him run.

The problem there is that giving him 25+ touches every game just isn't sustainable. He's an elite weapon on a big contract, but we have to moderate his usage at times if we want him to be at his peak for a playoff push and beyond.

I'm obviously very happy about the result but in some ways I feel like we "got away with one". We were sloppy with the football, and our tackling was atrocious.

I think that's the main sentiment... and it feels like a repeat of the start of last season where they never really looked convincing even while they were winning... and then all the cracks we saw early became chasms and the whole thing came crumbling down.  For me, the reason for optimism for this season to not be a repeat is that I trust the two coordinators this year to have answers unlike the pair last year.  Brian Johnson might one day grow into a great NFL OC.  But he wasn't ready last year.  And the same could be true of Desai.  And I think he got scapegoated a little bit while not having the talent on the defense that he needed, plus the injuries started to mount in the secondary.

Not necessarily excuses but reality:

- No preseason snaps for 1st team offense in pre-season

- New offense and defense

- 10 hour plane ride to Brazil - also dealing with a bunch of nonsensical rumors that it could be "dangerous” for them, smh

- Slick field

Still managed to score 34 points and come through in the end.

Felt this way last night, was a shame this game as played on a crap turf but also in week 1. Feels like if it was down the road in the middle of the season (and both teams stayed healthy) it’s probably less sloppy. It’s a shame because it’s two good teams but week 1 where both teams weren’t crisp.
